I watch casually, but with a bit more interest since I started participating in my workplace pool a few years back! Here's hoping for some great hockey and (Go Wings!) a deserving (Go Wings!) winner (Go Wings!). Good luck in your pool, LS1628

Wings lost. Not only do I like them, I picked them and the Canucks heavily in the workplace hockey pool. I'm in trouble.

Is anyone else following the Pens/Flyers series? I'm watching game 4 right now and it's another nutty one. Score is 4-3 Pens...at the end of the 1st! The goalies will come out of this scarred for life.
Edited to add: Okay, every time I look up from my web surfing another goal has bee scored. 10-3 Pens at 5 min into the 3rd! That's a football score, not hockey!

That's a football score, not hockey! Yes! The Pens/Flyers series is insanely wild and awesome hockey to watch. Many goals, scraps and fights, love it. Just when we thought the Flyers would complete the sweep the Pens fight back and win game 4 10-3. I hope the Flyers can wrap it up next game though, my pool's been suffering quite a bit. Canucks also finally won a game last night too... the streets and shops of Vancouver got lucky. Yes, poor Vancouver. I hope the response to their fate this year is a little more civilized. My heart wants the Pens to get through, but my chances in my pool would actually be better with the Flyers. I have 1 Flyer player and 2 Pens, but most other pool participants have several Pens and 0 Flyers.

the pre-playoff favourites are dropping like flies.
Lidstrom has been a great player and captain. A worthy successor to Stevie Y.

Sorry for jumping in so late - you have a diehard NYR fan in the house here, watching them right now in game 6 - and boy, do we need a game 7 back at MSG!
I was surprised that the Wings went out in the first round too - and that that the Bruins are going to a game 7. Goes to show that anything can happen in the playoffs, right?

Proves any team can win it if talent, lack of injuries, luck and drive persevere. BTW, Happy 42nd birthday to the incredibly talented and virtually indestructive Nicklas Lidstrom , Captain of the Detroit Red Wings!!

Both of my teams were eliminated in the first round, Chicago and Ottawa Now I'm rooting for Ovi and the Caps to take it home.

Hello and welcome to the forum Hero. This is shaping up to be the year of the Underdog teams. It's exciting to watch how the elite teams are being eliminated so quickly. Not rooting for any one in particular, but have an appetite to see the Nashville Predators get eliminated since they eliminated the Red Wings. Each level gets harder and harder as you advance and it's not easy to win the Cup. Whoever hoists it this year has the pride and satisfaction of knowing they beat all the "sure bet" teams.

I love a good cinderella story. Since I don't have any emotional connection to any of the remaining teams, I hope the Kings hoist the cup.
