Here is one the articles to come out this press conference: ‘Hawaii Five-O’ Star Alex O’Loughlin Recalls Life After Rehab; Co-star Scott On His Other Passion Hollywood Bulletin By JANET SUSAN NEPALES June 10, 2012, 3:41pm
LOS ANGELES – Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan, who both star as the hunky police officers of the hit “Hawaii Five-O” remake of the original 1968-1980 television series, are both trying to feel at home in Beverly Hills where we interviewed them.
Both miss the white sandy beaches of Hawaii that make them feel at home and comfortable. This afternoon, the grassy garden of the Four Seasons Hotel just has to do as their backdrop as we interview them.
Now on their third season as Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett (Alex) and Detective Danny "Danno" Williams (Scott), the actors have learned to take it easy and not take the pressure of making people continue watching the show. “I try not to take that pressure on,” revealed Alex. “That’s not really my job, thank God. I just try to get the material they give me and make it honest and tell a story. I don’t have time beyond that to worry about anything else. That’s a big job in itself and if I did think about that stuff, I just don’t think it’s conducive to what I do as an actor, as a part of the collaborative artistic process to think about the end result and to think about how many people are watching. I stopped checking the numbers of the show in the first season. I said I don’t want to know. It’s none of my business. The more I focus on what my job really is then it’s better the chance of that happening to me.”
The 35-year-old actor, who recently also missed shooting some episodes of “Hawaii Five-O” to seek drug treatment related to pain management medication prescribed after a shoulder injury, confessed that he does get “knocked around on the show a lot.” He revealed, “I do a lot of my stunts and I have done from the beginning. I am not a 20 something anymore as you can see from the dusting of grey on the sides of my head. I get hurt a lot. I got hurt pretty badly on the show and I ended up taking painkillers to get to work. I had trouble getting off them. That’s as complicated as it gets. It was really difficult for me to be away. The show is an enormous part of my life. I am at work like 14 hours a day every day and then all of a sudden you are not at work.
I got a lot of letters and a lot of messages from people saying the show is so weird not to see me in the show.”
He added, “The fact that a #1 next to my name on the all sheet does not really mean anything to me but it does mean that for some I carry some responsibility. This leads back to your question about numbers and the success of the show. When I answered your question, I hope you didn’t think that I meant that I don’t care about that. I care deeply.
In fact, I am so deeply about it that that’s probably why I can’t focus on it. I can’t think about it.
“Right now, I feel fantastic. It’s like nothing happened. My injuries are good. I am like doing physical therapy three times a week. I’m back and doing lots of Ju Jitsu. I’m surfing. I’m running. I’m doing all that stuff. I just have to say no to some of the stunts that I love doing so much. I got to. I enjoy doing stuff but I’ve learned that I have to let the stuntmen do that stuff.”

Scott, who is also 35, for his part, talked about his other passion – writing. He recently wrote a new script that is going to be produced on Broadway, “No Way Around But Through.” “I have a play that I wrote that’s up right now and it is running at the Falcon Theatre,” Scott said. “It’s about a dysfunctional relationship between a mother and a son and the son’s girlfriend who is having a baby. Melanie Griffith plays my mother.”
So does he see himself doing more writing and directing rather than acting, we asked. “I think eventually but I like it all the same now so I want to keep doing it until they don’t let me do it anymore,” he admitted. “I don’t want to be the one to say all right, I don’t want to do that anymore. I’m going to wait for them to tell me that they don’t want me to do it anymore. But I like it all right now.”

Great article. Glad to hear Scott enjoys acting right now and wants to continue. Doesn't seem like he is going anywhere any time soon.

aaaaaaaaack, sorry, no, I'll be the lone grumpy woman here, but no beards!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never liked them, they look hot (in a bad way) and itchy and like a bed for bugs and anything that might crawl in there... not to mention all the malasada crumbs.... guess they're just having a good time not having to look good (IMO). Good to see them so relaxed though.

It is nice thought, to see the men relaxed and have the option of changing their appearance as they wish over the summer months.
