I don't remember reading anywhere that anyone felt jealous of her, so I wonder where she got that from, except her own imagination. Yes, I remember reading that little blip. Pretty pathetic to diss the fans like that. In her imagination is the only place fan jealousy could possibly exist, because it a state of reality it's no where to be found. People had trepidations when they heard about her character when it was announced that she would be added to show, but that disappeared once they actually saw her.

What people had "trepidations" that disappeared? Wait. Actually, you're right. Our trepidations were replaced by continuous gagging, nausea, and frustration. Not to mention the constant urge to throw things when she was on screen.

I didn't actually gag ... except for dramatic effect when discussing the show with co-workers)! I was willing to give her a chance before 2.2 aired because many actresses matured as they worked more (a good example of that is Farrah Fawcett whose acting style was all smiles, teeth and tossing hair in Charlie's Angels but she later developed into a really good actress) but any trepidation on my part was after I saw that she, unfortunately, had not matured and was seriously damaging the quality of the show.

Really? Seriously? Okay, then we must be talking about 2 different shows here, because there is no way my trepidations did anything but multiply with every passing torturous LG scene.

Calm down, runner. I meant trepidations in regards to Lori being a love interest for Steve. Lauren said that fans were jealous of her, meaning that they thought she was there as another girlfriend of Steve's. When that didn't turn out to be the case, worries about her stealing Steve's affections wore off and they started complaining about her acting.

well the lack of acting skills more like. and that tag of trying to steal steve's affection was always there, especially after seeing steve carry her down the steps after she "injured" herself.

Perhaps it would help if you had been a bit clearer about that. Still, I have to disagree with you on your last statement. Here, at least, we were always talking about her poor acting skills. That was one of the main issues we had with her. Also, in her last episode Lori practically professed her affections for Steve. So that was still a concern (that she would be a love interest for Steve). PL claimed that she wasn't a love interest, but all you have to do is see the looks they shared (or attempted to anyways. They were always awkward. Go figure.) in the kidnapped kids episode, the hug in 2.10 (*gag*). Even after PL said they weren't writing her as a love interest, they still threw those things in there. To be honest, I really don't want to keep talking about this stuff. It was so horrible to endure the first time. The only thing, I think at least, is still valid to talk about is how poorly the character was introduced/written, and how invasive she was to the team. Only because those things are concerns (for some) with Catherine's addition.

I see where you're coming from, Trina, and I remember reading the interview with LG, but don't recall her being specific on why she thought other women would be jealous of her. Either way, she's still off her rocker, because no woman has any reason to be jealous of her. Jealousy topic aside, viewers didn't want to see her as Steve's gf because (1) he already has one, if you want to count Catherine that way, (2) or that would just be bad for the show's storyline.

Lauren wasn't specific. I surmised that the jealousy she referred to was female fans thinking she was vying for Steve's affections. That's the only way they could be jealous. This is all based on Lauren's comments that women will be jealous of her. It all started with her saying so, even though, as you say, you'd have to be off your rocker to be jealous of her.

Re-watching S2, and the Lori Weston makes even less sense than she did the first time round (although she's easier to take knowing that she's not permanent). I mean, what did we ever learn about her past and character that made any sense, had any depth or was at all interesting?
