Winners: Dancing With the Stars (ABC), The Voice (NBC), How I Met Your Mother (CBS), The Big Bang Theory R (CBS), 2 Broke Girls (CBS), Mike & Molly (CBS), Hawaii Five-O (CBS), Revolution (NBC) -Losers (excluding repeats): 90210 (CW), Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (ABC), The Mob Doctor (Fox), Gossip Girl (CW) ---------- -Ratings Breakdown: With only one-hour of Dancing in the Stars in the mix, ABC and NBC tied for first in the Monday overnights. But NBC will have a healthy lead among adults 18-49, of course, thanks to The Voice. And CBS was more competitive courtesy of a repeat of The Big Bang Theory at 8:30 p.m. in place of canceled Partners. Dancing With the Stars on ABC, which concludes its fall season with a two-hour installment tonight, led the 8 p.m. hour (and the night overall) with a 12.7 rating/18 share in the overnights. Next were the first two of four holiday editions of inspirational Extreme Makeover: Home Edition at a 4.7/ 8 in the 9 p.m. hour and a 3.7/ 7 (#3) at 10 p.m. Comparably, retention for the 9-10 p.m. edition out of the 8:30 p.m. portion of Dancing With the Stars (12.0/18) was only 39 percent. Growth for ABC of 84 percent over the year-ago evening, by the way, was a refection of Dancing With the Stars not airing. The Voice on NBC scored a solid 7.6/11 from 8-10 p.m., peaking in the 9 p.m. half-hour with an 8.0/12 and building from year-ago occupant The Sing Off (3.9/ 6 on 11/28/11) by a hefty 95 percent. Next was the fall season-finale of NBC’s The Revolution at a second-place 5.3/ 9 at 10 p.m. Comparably, that built from year-ago occupant Rock Center With Brian Williams (3.0/ 5 on 11/28/11) by 77 percent. And it is a shoo-in to win the time period among adults 18-49 thanks to the lead-in support from The Voice. Who says the lead-in no longer matters? Revolution will return for the second half of its freshman season on March 25. Over at CBS, an encore telecast of aforementioned The Big Bang Theory at 8:30 p.m. (#3: 5.5/ 8) had almost full retention out of an original installment of demo friendly lead-in How I Met Your Mother (#3: 5.8/ 9). With stronger lead-in support, sophomore 2 Broke Girls perked up to second with a 7.5/11 at 9 p.m., followed by compatible Mike & Molly at a 6.8/10 at 9:30 p.m. (#2). Hawaii Five-O capped off the evening for the Eye net with a dominant 6.7/11 in the overnights at 10 p.m. Elsewhere, veteran Bones on Fox finished fourth in the 8 p.m. hour with a 4.8/ 7. And that led into waiting-to-be canceled The Mob Wife at a mere 2.5/ 4 at 9 p.m. (#4). The CW capped off the night with 90210 (#5: 0.9/ 1) and soon-to-conclude Gossip Girl (#5: 0.8/ 1), which together dropped by 36 percent from the year-ago combination of Gossip Girl and Hart of Dixie. Nice. I think 6.7/11 is the highest it's been.

Okay, despited how so-so the many episodes are, the show's recovering. Good news to those who loves the show but bad news to those who hated this show.

Also remember, no more Revolution until March 25, 2013 and no more Dancing with the Stars until the spring of 2013, both of which should help improve H50 ratings even more.

Was Castle on last night at all? Rerun or anything? If not, could that be one reason why we were higher last night? I hope not, that number should be growing for the simple reason that the show's awesome.

Was Castle on last night at all? Rerun or anything? If not, could that be one reason why we were higher last night? I hope not, that number should be growing for the simple reason that the show's awesome. Castle was not on last night, instead the start of a special 4 episode arc of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was on. But that being said, if you look at the chart at the top of the page you will see that H50 live viewership has been steadily increasing for the past several weeks even with both Revolution and Castle on against it. So let's hope they stay on the same trajectory they are on, as if they do it is very possible they could be back to last season's viewership by they time they get to the Christmas break.

No Castle at all, at least in my area.
Both H5O and Revolution were up a bit in overall viewers, so that may mean Castle viewers were looking for something else to watch.
ETA: Di and I were typing at the same time, and I agree with her H5O's current viewership trend is promising. Let's hope the next string of episodes are as entertaining as the last few, and we'll keep all these viewers.

I hate to say it, but I think that the number of guest stars H50 has had this season helps, too as it gets people that don't normally watch the show to tune in. At first I was skeptical of all these people being on the show, but maybe it's helping after all.

The numbers have been increasing steadily because the cable programs are not really there, and people turn off of Revolution, and Castle, but not excessively. With Castle completely off last night, people turned to Hawaii Five-O, because of its familiarity, and the fact that you really don't have a major storyline that is pertinent to understanding the whole show, even with the mystery. As long as Castle is on, and in this case, Extreme Makeover had Jenny McCarthy on it, which was probably a turn off as well, you will see those numbers.
