Wow. Just about all of you have totally hit the nail on the head of how I've been feeling the past few weeks. And I was was starting to feel just a tad guilty. Yes, I have a lot of time and emotions invested in this show...and I was so looking forward to season 3. The episodes after LG left last season were so much better and the ohana feeling seemed to be back. But after some great episodes this season, we seem to have fallen off a cliff in slow motion and are losing our forward momentum. We are starting to turn downwards, slowly being pulled into the abyss of just another ho -hum procedural show that has lost its spark. And yes, Alex seems to have lost some of his luster--the stint is rehab was going to come out whether we, or Alex, liked it or not. But he once was so private and I've learned more about his life since August than I have since the show started. Maybe it is sleep deprivation--who knows?
Yes- I will continue to watch the show....and will probably start giving a bit more feedback about the watering down of H50. Just glad to see I'm not the only one feeling this way.

I remember some of the comments in S1 about the violence and I always thought it was strange because to me it seemed in keeping with the show and it never seemed to be thrown in for the sake of it . But everybody has different views and I suppose the network had to take some of those into account . I must admit I do miss S1 SuperSEAL , the roof top scene and the snark from Danny in the carguement afterwards is a scene that I still rewatch and smile at , but I am still enjoying the show and do look forward to it each week. I have said before that for me S1 was so amzing that I do wonder if they will ever be able to top it . It was the same for me with NCIS LA and it was only in the later part of S3 that it really grabbed me again.

I loved season 1. Personally the champ box never got old to me. (probably because i watched the whole first season in 1 week, instead of over 9 months.) I have to say, I was actually kinda surprised to see all these comments. I was under the impression that almost everybody was enjoying season 3. I know I am. I have noticed Steve getting softer too, but that will probably pass once the Doris plot is wrapped up. I'm not getting worked up about the main plot right now anyway. It'll probably last until the season finale and there's nothing we can do about it.

Talk about listening to the wrong people, then. The whole immunity thing is what made H50 fun and set it miles apart from the norm. People have been clamoring for it back since the new Governor came in, but they'd rather listen to people who already almost canned the show with "give the alien a chance?". Is this the same group that hustles bodyparts porn and holds contests about odes to AOL's behind? If TPTB are listening to them, then wave bye-bye show.

As you pointed out, many shows have times when they don't quite live up to the bar they'd set and I class most of season 2 in that category. But I have to admit, even if I'm alone in this opinion, that I'm actually really enjoying season 3 so far and I'm very much looking forward to watching the rest of this season. I'm sure I can think of a few things that I'd tweak slightly but, overall, nothing major......*ducks the flying objects* Fiona

It is leaps and bounds better than most of season 2. And I am amazed at how many people think season 1 was so perfect. It was really good at the beginning. I enjoyed meeting these people and getting to know them. But half way through the season, PL introduces Jenna Kay and why? Really didn't understand the need for a new character when he had not explored the characters of Chin and Kono. And, to add insult to injury, in the episode where we meet Danny's brother, Matt, we see Danny running back to his ex-wife's arms at the end. I always thought he should have went back to Steve to vent his feelings. Knew that was a mistake and then before we knew it, Danny was having an affair with his ex-wife. Is this really the season you think is so perfect? Making the governor bad and killing her off and breaking up the team were all bad moves as far as I am concerned. Too much, too soon. Of course, season 2 went down hill further until LW left. Season 3 - not perfect but enjoyable. I totally understand not having the same passion for the show as in the beginning but that is difficult for any show to live up to. Sometimes not watching the show and not getting on the boards is a good thing. And I totally support anyone who feels they need a break or is unhappy with the way things are - to each his own.

WOW! I have to agree with some of the comments about the show. I believe, if this thread was sent to PL he would get honest, objective opinions of how fans are viewing all the painful changes. I enjoy the program but change is sometines very good thing. Darksea, do you have a direct line to PL? You seem to have an inside track that none of us have. You would be supported for sure.

I agree with irishfan and gbird. And although there are a few things that kinda irk me.....the custody battle brought up but almost never mentioned again, and the fact that to a point they haven't (in my opinion) done much for Chin's character relating to Malia's death, where did Gabby go?, and a few other things......I'm enjoying season 3 alot. I still look forward to Monday nights. I'm missing Super SEAL as well, but I'm going to look at the "softened" Steve as the fact that he has ohana now (not talking about Mama McG here). The team has been together for 3 years now. Steve can let down some walls with his team/family. Although even my husband mentioned that Steve is missing some of his SEAL-ness lol. Anywhooo, that's my two cents and I know it's jumbled and not worth much but there it is lol. ;D

It was Steve hanging the bad guys off rooftops and throwing them into shark cages that made him the character we loved and the show a success. It was Danny being just the opposite that brought about so many great carguments and bromance moments.

Although I'm not going to judge your defense of this show, I giving an honest opinion. Season 3 really showed no change. There are still unnecessary violence. But that does not mean that I wanted the show to be as tamed as the original series. Hack, even Alias that has it's shares of flaws is more believable the the new Hawaii Five-0 and know what? I enjoy the show, Hawaii Five-0 however just tries way to hard. I understand they wanted to revert the tameness of the original series but it only looks too fake and silly. Had they continue what made the first season but make things believable, keep the characters human and add some realistic style the the show would have improved. And second the scripts are often sloppy. One example is when the bank teller got shot in the stomach but was she's not hiding behind the counter? Why did she even get up? That was very dumb. This happens because they want more blood. Also Danno bringing Grace to Victoria's secret was out of his character. There are many more examples of the sloppiness of the script and it shows me that Lenkov and writers are not showing much care of this show. All they care about is money. That's why we need to send them feedbacks. The only reason I watched the show is because it took place today. If the episode is well-written, I would like it more. I mean hack, one episode of this season was great, they should have done the same in every episode. They just need to stop trying way too hard, at the same time don't make it tame as the original series. Just remove the comic background, it's not working. But Darksea I agree with most of what you said. *ahem* Meet one of the people who speaks loudly and has given you the present of a watered down show...note the ignorance, bask in the ambiance. By the way, there was a LOT of violence in the original, it was implied, never showed.

Thanks, darksea, for the response and explanation. I picked up on some of the same things in S2 that you reiterated. The whole concept of the tight ass new Governor in S2 and the babysitter (Lori) to keep the team in check was to water down this so-called rogue team. It was just a coincidence that Lori was played by a mannequin from Old Navy which redirected the fan focus on her for about 15 episodes. The changes were happening with or without the Lori saga…to the show, to Alex, etc. For many fans, which I am one, that rogue team (in S1A*) was the unique concept that made this show so fun and addictive. Real life is nothing but “rules”…how nice it was to engage in the fantasy on Monday nights! You know, you just triggered a rather interesting point in my thought pattern. We don't even have governor interaction this year. We went from the Gov being the center of the universe, to being MIA.

I've stopped watching every week. I saw last week's episode, but skipped the previous 2 weeks, and I probably won't tune in tonight either (it's just starting on the West Coast) because the promo looked stupid. I'm not giving it up completely, but it's no longer must-watch TV for me because I usually wind up feeling let down.
I was furious about the season premiere and haven't really gotten past it. I was excited about trying a new season without Lori, and then that aired. Killing off Malia after like four minutes of marriage was an absolutely ridiculous decision that made it clear to me that the writers and producers are all over the place and just flinging crap at the wall.
I wanted to be excited about the possibilities for Mama McGarrett, but that was before they decided to play the character as an obnoxious shrew who seems to have NPD. It was amusing for about half an episode and then it got very grating. I like Catherine better than Lori, but I can't figure out what the point of her is and I don't think they know, either. It's just one sloppy bit of writing after another and it's really dampened my enjoyment.

I do miss Jean Smart , she played it so well .

I am also enjoying S3, its different to S1 but there are new things to enjoy and Steve stills goes all badass every so often , the way I look at it Steve has had to adapt to a different live so he has toned it down , but when he needs to channel his SuperSEAL ways he does .
