Just saw the preview for the Jan 14th episode of Hawaii Five-0. Apparently it is going to be a live event in which we pick the ending. There will be 3 suspects and they have filmed three endings, so the fans will vote to determine who the killer is and that will determine which ending gets showed. So what does everyone think, good idea, bad idea, corny idea?? Though I do want to know what happens if different time zones vote for different killers and will we have to wait until the DVD comes out to see all three endings?

I saw that tonight, also. Not sure how that is going to work--but it sounds like an interesting idea. I seem to recall that this has been done before on a TV shoe...but can't remember when or which one.......

It's definitely an interesting idea. Not really sure how I feel about it though. It's not like I really want my favorite t.v. show to turn into American Idol or anything lol. Guess I'll have to wait and see. Maybe they will give more info on how it's gonna work.

Ever since I heard about this I've had the idea it's been done before, and not on a recent show either. Finally I've remembered. In a 5th season ep of the A-team which aired in 1986, called Family Reunion, viewers could call in to a 900 number during the airing of the episode and vote on 1 of 2 possible endings (whether Bancroft was Face's father or not).
I imagine this will be something similar, except using texting and online voting instead of just telephone voting.

I don't think it's a 'bad' idea, I'm just not sure if it's 'good' or 'corny', though. But it is definitely an attempt by CBS to involve the viewers and boost ratings, not that I blame them for that.
I can understand if viewers are to be given a window to vote (via CBS' website, I assume), in order to determine which of the 3 endings they will get to see, but am also curious how that will work with each time zone. Will the East coast determine which ending everyone sees? Will each time zone get it's own ending, based on what it votes for? Regardless, I do hope they make all 3 endings available on CBS's website, so we don't have to wait for the DVD to come out to see them, assuming they would be on the DVD, that is.

And if they don't make them available on the website they better put it on the DVD! They can't just dangle 3 ending in front of us and not tell us what all of them are!! Right?!

I definitely put this in the interesting category but I'm not 100% sure if it's good, bad or corny Although I think I might be drifting towards corny. Like runner says, I hope they make the 3 endings available to us so we don't have to wait for the DVD. I'll be interested to see how it turns out all the same. Fiona

I wonder if they filmed 3 different "ohana" endings or if they just filmed the different killers being caught and have the same "ohana" ending (if there will be one). If you think about it, all of the suspects could be guilty so it's not like there will be a wrong answer. I'm just ready for the next few main plot episodes. I hope they're done rearranging for this season.

It is going to be interesting to see how this all plays out. Will it boost the ratings? How will they deal with the different time zones? And I think the fans might be upset if they have to wait for the DVD to see the alternate endings. Hope they consider putting it on the CBS website.

Looks like we all have questions, most the same ones. Hopefully CBS will be wise and put something up on their website to answer viewer's questions and not leave us scratching our heads.

Sounds like a bad idea to me. For a show that really needs all the viewers it can get, a stunt like this would really only interest the hardcore viewer. Many people watch TV for entertainment and don't want to have to think too hard about a possible outcome, especially if they are a casual viewer of the show and have no vested interest in the show - and the outcome. I would hope that CBS will put something on their website to answer viewer questions and not leave them hanging for a solution. I would also hope that a proper resolution has been decided on and filmed because when showing this in reruns you can't leave unanswered questions.

okay, I'm officially confused. Please help me out! How can we vote for an ending on the same night that they are playing that epi for us? Do they stop the show for a little while to change the tape to the one that we voted for, or is it to be continued until the next week? Me a little confused...
I guess I'm going to vote for a bad idea because this confusion going on in my head is stressing me.

I am looking forward to this episode, but, I would enjoy it better if I knew before hand the "how to vote" before the program begins. If it is anything like DWTS, well I think it will be a flop. It is going to be a long 13 days to wait.

I've been seeing these ads too, and it strikes me odd too. The last few comments are spot-on - beads, I doubt if I'd be attracted to watch if I were a casual viewer (and, no, I'm not planning to watch) - and for heaven's sake if I weren't a viewer at all, I can't imagine why I'd be interested. Besides that, it's completely out of character with the show as a whole. It seems like whatever thread of personality that was left is stretched way too far and could snap at any moment. The show is schizophrenic.

I'm thinking that those that are 'casual viewers' or anyone just not interested in voting will think it's no big deal. They simply will ignore that interaction promo and ignore the opportunity to vote, and just enjoy whatever ending others voted for.
I guess what I'm saying it, that it doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing for those not interested.
