Stayed up in the UK to watch the live stream of the Blessing the time was going to be 11.00pm but as they were late doing the Blessing it was 11.40 so a very late night for me by the time I got to bed about 1.00am and I had to be up at 4.45 the next morning as I have to be at work at 6.00am not much sleep. I think they were late because they were waiting for Alex to get there. Alex just got off a plan from his holiday so he was not filming on the first day that was why he had the beard.
Love watching the Blessing every year. Love Alex and Daniel together pity Scott and Grace were not there.

From the Star Advister/Honolulu Pulse Article
BY GARY CHUN / gchun@staradvertiser.com
Filming of the new season of “Hawaii Five-0” got underway Wednesday, July 10, and the Hawaiian blessing of the production had an added dimension to it, as it took place in the show’s new home at the Hawaii Film Studio near Diamond Head.
Production was previously held at the former Honolulu Advertiser building on Kapiolani Boulevard, before starting its move to the studio back in April.
Star cast members Alex O’Loughlin and Daniel Dae Kim helped with the untying of a maile lei during the blessing. Mayor Kirk Caldwell was among the guests in attendance.
“We want to continue to honor the cultural traditions of Hawaii,” said executive producer Peter Lenkov, whose daughter is spending the summer helping out in the show’s art department. “And now that we’re in a real studio, it feels like home.”
Last season’s cliffhanger episode left a big question up in the air for the future of Grace Park’s character Kono Kalakaua, last seen leaving with her boyfriend for parts unknown.
“Grace is still in the show,” assured Lenkov. “I wanted people to wonder if Kono was really going to be gone. We have an interesting story arc for her this season, and I actually think this first batch of scripts are really special.”
The Hawaii Film Studio was previously home to ABC’s “Lost,” and Lenkov said some of that show’s cast members will be making appearances on “Five-0.”
“Terry O’Quinn will be back (reprising his role as retired SEAL Joe White) and Jorge Garcia will be a guest as well,” he said. “Plus there’ll be a big casting announcement soon.”
Production of the show’s fourth season had actually started earlier Wednesday morning with a location shoot in Waimanalo, and as soon as the ceremonial blessing was concluded in the permanent studio set of Five-0 headquarters, visitors were asked to quickly leave so filming of the first episode could continue.
The season four premiere is titled “Aloha Kekahi I Kekahi,” or “love one another.”
When not on location, “Hawaii Five-0” interior shots will take place at the studio’s two soundstages: stationary sets such as the squad’s headquarters and the morgue, and in the former warehouse (and original “Five-0” soundstage), the interior of Steve McGarrett’s house and the interrogation room.
There is one more set still located at the old building on Kapiolani Boulevard that was vacated by the production when owner Downtown Capital announced plans to build two condomium towers there. The high security set where the villainous Wo Fat was held will be used one last time before the building will be handed over to Hawaiian Dredging & Construction Co., which plans to make it its headquarters.
“Hawaii Five-0” moves from its Monday time slot to Friday this season, and Lenkov said “I’m excited by the move. I’m hoping our core audience will follow us to our new Friday home, and that we’ll also attract a bunch of new eyes to the show.”
Lenkov said he’s also bringing on some new writers on board, particularly John Dove, who worked on “CSI: NY” for nine years, along with Steve Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt from the canceled Fox series “Alcatraz.”
As with previous years, Hawaii will get to see the season premiere at “Sunset on the Beach” in Waikiki a day earlier than its national broadcast on Sept. 27.
“If last year felt like a movie, this year it’s going to be a big blockbuster,” Lenkov said.
