Simply magical, wonderful episode tonight! Wow! Only complaint is there still isn't enough Danno.

OK, I HATE episodes like these, they make me cry and this one had me going pretty well from start to finish. Can't say it's my favorite episode, but it's certainly one of the best and one for TPTB to be proud of. George Takei described life at one of those camps, when he was little, in his autobiography. I kept thinking back to that book as I watched the episode.

Lived up to all the hype. What a wonderful episode. I agree--I said to myself at the end "Now THAT was Hawaii Five-0."

Lived up to all the hype. What a wonderful episode. I agree--I said to myself at the end "Now THAT was Hawaii Five-0." I always think they're exaggerating when they say something will make you cry. This time it wasn't exaggeration! I was surprised to be reaching for the Kleenex. I so enjoyed this episode! James Saito was just right as David. They did a great job of aging him for the role. He's the one who had me crying when Steve returned the katana and then when he apologized to Ezra Clark. I'd be happy to see them find another way to use him in a future episode.

Yes--I would love to see James Saito in a future episode. I also thought the ending was very sweet---when David gave Steve the baseball mitt that Steve's grandfather gave to him 70 years ago.

A beautiful episode. I'm not usually emotional but did have tears at the end. I only have one thing that did annoy me and I really tried to let it go was Cath's presence beside Steve being the cop. It didn't work for me.

The flashbacks to Pearl Harbor were nice. Cinetone and all. Them taking David Toriyama to the site of the internment camp and finding it all shambles was sad. They should have preserved it as a Museum or at the very least a plaque or something. Nice that David was a Korean vet. The sentence of, "No treason by any Japanese American," was a good thing by David. Also was a nice thing to hear General Douglas MacArthur sited him. I am reading MacArthurs auto biography.
It was nice they had no shooting or fighting for a change. They need those once in a while. Steve in his dress whites always looks good. Surprised Catherine wasn't in hers?
No Kono, but being away it doesn't have to happen every week. Danno was playing the Chin role this week. Only in on part of the action. But very nice to see lots of Chin. And his little talk with David was great. My son said "isn't he Korean?", and Chin told David when he asked that he had a little Korean and a little Hawaiian/Japanese, very nice.
Danny saying that Steven is a big softie and becoming a human being was funny.
Then they had to dig up James body to get the bullet to match the gun, I figured it would take CSI and along time to be able to exhume him, and match the bullet to the probably rusty gun. But ofcourse not. After they discover that deceased Albert Archer killed James Triyama to get the sword. I worried he had sold it. But his grandson Thomas had it. Nice he gave it back with no problems.
Is there really an old bunker with all those files in it? Then they should be taken and protected, better! The George Rigby mystery was good to. Having the report half eaten.
The big hand shake and apology from David to Ezra Clark was nice. Also by the Arizona Memorial where David gave Steve the ball mitt that was given him from his grandpa Steven McGarrett was nice, and the big hug after, too. Brought tears. Was a good episode!

That was great episode, there were facts I didn't know about like those camps for Japenese-Americans(is that right?), I actually wanted to cry when David was telling the story about his life there, that must've been hard for a ten yo boy to be taken with his family to place like that. The whole episode was just amazing but I would like to see more of Steve's Grandfather story, just a little bit more. Anyway despite the hidden onions I have no reasons to complain. 5 stars ;-)

Excellent episode, I always like anything that includes a history lesson. Might have been nice at the end to include a statement that this kind of treatment of Japanese-Americans happened on the mainland too, not just in Hawaii. A very sad and embarrassing part of America's past.

Yes, it was a great episode. I have always enjoyed James Saito's work and he was simply exceptional here. As with others, the ending also had me in tears. I visited Manzanar National Historic Site, a WWII relocation site, here in California a long time ago when I was young and didn't fully understand it's meaning or purpose. I wish I could revisit now and see it with new eyes. It's located a high desert area where it gets cold in the winter and very hot in the summer; and as I remember it, with flat ground with little to no trees. Truly, a shameful entry in the history of our country.

Just had an opportunity to watch this episode. Never cried so much during an episode. Really thought it was great. Always like it when they weave Hawaiian history with the story of the week. That is what makes Hawaii Five - o so special.
