I just got home from work and watched it, and it was okay. * The storyline was interesting. * Too much Grover, still taking over for Danny. Although Danny did have another case to work, it still seems odd to not be paired with Steve. And for the record, yes, I do think Danny is jealous of Grover, and he has every right to be. * PL can put any age he wants to Amber character, but that just can't change the fact that she is far too young for Danny. Although, I will admit that it was funny watching him gush over her a bit. But that's as far as it should go. Perhaps these eyelash fluttering moments are just meant to stroke Danny's ego a git. Okay, I can deal with that, or some teasing from Steve and Chin would be good, too. But another love interest is not necessary, especially when he just dumped Gabby over stability for Grace. * It was good to see Steve looking good in full gear in the forest. And Grover in the poisonous plant was funny. * The 3-way phone call (sorry, can't call it a 'cargument' because those are only between Steve and Danny) was funny. Always love Danny in daddy-mode. *Why did Amber wake up in the hospital and not ask what had happened? I mean, wouldn't you? I'd kinda wanna know, 'What the heck just happened? How did I end up here? Someone shot me?! Why?' No, 'So, what's your name?' does not top my list. * Good to see Kono back, but her reunion with Adam was totally anticlimactic and lame. I was greatly disappointed in that. She's come from not from far away... but another continent(!) to find him and he says, "You shouldn't be here." Seriously?! Hug and kiss the woman you love first, then let reality sink in and say that, you idiot! At least the ending with them arriving at McG's house was good. Although it would have been more 'complete' if Kono had said something to Steve about keeping a promise. * Catherine is in the reserves? Since when? Do the writers just randomly add stuff so the storyline makes sense, even though there is no continuity? Probably. Totally agree with the Catherine in reserves thing. Where did that come from? Liked the Steve in full gear and Grover in the poisonous plant, too. Not a fan of Amber. Liked Kono and Adam coming home to their ohana. Sweet moment.

Do the writers just randomly add stuff so the storyline makes sense, even though there is no continuity? Probably. The waking up in the hospital bit had me wondering too. I was in a quite bad accident that had me in the hospital for months. To this day I don't remember the accident but I know my first words upon waking were, "What happened?" When told I was in an accident I asked, "Did I wreck my car?" I'd actually been riding on a motorcycle with a friend and we were hit by a car so my car (fairly new at the time) was fine. But I was also thinking ... Amber didn't really elaborate on why she's in Hawaii. Maybe she's running from something and vaguely remembers the pain of being shot so she thinks someone caught up to her and that's why she didn't ask. Maybe that's the reason her character has been introduced. A stretch, I know, but not asking why she was in the hospital had me imagining the bizarre. I like Gabby so I'm hoping for a specific storyline for Amber (i.e., something more than just Danny's girlfriend) that will run its course and she'll be gone when it's all resolved and I can hope for Gabby's return.

This show is becoming human, don't you guys think? Hmm, yeah, maybe. But I get 'human' in real life, I watch Five-0 to hear carguments and watch Steve blow things up. Amen. It was never supposed to be taken seriously, was it? With all the means and immunity stuff? There was enough angst with Steve trying to figure out why his dad got dead. When they took M&I away and started in with the "evolving" characters and feelings and reality, it lost much of its appeal. Used to be, I could watch Steve dunk a bad guy in the shark tank and laugh and clap, and never think twice about how that would not happen in real life. In S2, reality started butting in way too much and even now it's still rearing its ugly little head - even when I was still supposed to be suspending reality. I don't want real, I don't want soap, I want a good mystery, four smart and sassy cops solving it, some unreal moves from the former SEAL, some funny bromance with the eccentric opinionated Jersey transplant and some sweet moments from the Zen guy and his kickass cousin. Everything else is peripherals and shouldn't spoil the fun. And cheap humour (or boo hoos) shouldn't have a place in what has been a creative, smart show.

You're not the only one imagining scenarios, Katlyn. I have already asked myself if I want Danny falling for a woman far too young for him just so he can be razzed by Steve and Chin, or do I want their meeting to have been part of a set-up in some sinister plot.

Geez, at 20 years old you should BE a fresh start, not seek a new one. But this would at least make the story somewhat interesting, plus Danno would fall for a damsel in distress. With a name like Vitale, she might be a Mafia don's kid. Hoping they don't do the "ex prostitute" bit. Or she's the old standby, witness to something she shouldn't have seen. Yet she seems pretty carefree for any of these scenarios.

This show is becoming human, don't you guys think? I think this show has always been human. It's one of the reasons I like it so much. Sure there are the implausible armored car rescues by helicopters but the show always comes full circle, emphasizing justice for the victims...they usually appear at the end, having some sort of closure. We see Super Seal Cops, and modern day Super Hero to the Rescue Cop(Danno) with everyday concerns over family and such...they are not just 2-D characters.....and, well, the Ohana moments...just precious.... As for this particular episode, we see the human side of our heroes. I loved the lesson that sometimes good people do bad things, make mistakes...again adding more dimension to people..as in real life. I do have to say I agree that I am suspicious of Amber. I am also suspicious of that whole shot by accident from the boat thing-the boat's name was FOXY LADY and I expected to see some high roller...but I am probably overly paranoid. Her name alone-Amber- means yellow-as in caution -you know there is more to her story, and it probably(hopefully?) involves danger...and she is too young for him so I don't think this is anything long term...we'll see. My husband even literally laughed out loud at the Danno -Grover exchange over the phone...very funny.... Love, love, love the Ohana moments at the end..... Overall, a pretty good episode...
