This international/universal element of social media, therefore this board, just fascinates me every day. Don't ask me why you - nycgal - being in Manhattan excites me any more than sunnyirish being in Ireland or twassbrake in Germany or sweetlikemeli being in Australia, but...golly, Manhattan! Gee whiz. It's not like we're all in the same place around a table - you're there, and she's there, and she's there... And your weather is this, and hers is that, and hers is that. I bet darksea doesn't live in a place that looks like NYC. And who is it that lives on a ranch in Montana? How cool. I know what you mean marg I am fascinated by where all of you are from and how the weather is there....

sunnyirish08 - you poor things, hope it stops soon. I expect it will cross the sea and hit us soon. ahhh, we're grand, we irish are a strong bunch, used to getting pounded by the atlantic storms and ex hurricanes, wouldn't mind if that just happened in the winter months and not during the summer now looking forward to heading to the states, although still waiting on my brother to confirm it's ok with the wife. typical man. seriously the man is whooped Seriously you have to wait for confirmation....If that was me I would actually have spoken to my sister in law and told her I was coming over for a couple of weeks to visit.....No need to confirm....But I do know what you mean about brothers being whooped....LOL...

Thanks sunnyI... everything is okay here. Just was big enough to scare a few towns, including mine. But it did not do any major damage.

there's a rumour going around that ireland is going to be getting an indian "summer" for a day or two, then again this is supposed to happen on friday which is the 11-11-11 so i'll take that with a grain of salt.
at the moment we have a high over us. sunny weather for the next day or two. but cold.

Glad you checked in, okie, I just saw some news about the earthquake today. No tornado here, some heavy rain - I guess heavy, anyway, I didn't actually look outside. There were tornado watches for the entire NT area for an hour or so, but they cancelled, which was nice because I was worried I wouldn't get to see H50 if the weather kept up. CBS is touchy when there's weather, with my antenna. But I rescanned and pop, there's CBS again, yay!
I hope things calm down up there. Are there any newspeople giving dire predictions about faults in the area? Fracking? Or is it just odd all around?

Glad you did not get any tornadoes. Well some news people are saying that it is not really a mother nature thing with the quakes. You know how us Okies just love our oil... Some are saying that just nitwits don't know what they are doing and the drilling is causing this freak of events--quake wise-- i mean. I for one am not ruling that out completely some people have no business drilling and they explained how that would effect our state but i can't explain it that well. So it really all boils down to some people being reckless. I hope that is what you meant. IF not, sorry for misunderstanding. It is just so funky that all of the sudden we are getting several, & one day after another. And yet i don't think other states around us are!! Are any of you from California?! Do you get quakes on a regular basis?!

No misunderstanding there! We're getting the same thing, major protests against this fracking thing, which is drilling to free up natural gas, supposedly going to damage the rock layers and disrupt the existing fault situations. I buy the argument, frankly, and while I'm not a political activist type I'm on the side of the protesters. We've had some tiny rumblings nearby in the last couple of years, which some folks are blaming on fracking, and I don't want anything more drastic to happen, especially not because we're too stupid to leave Mother Nature alone.

Yep, that is what i don't understand. We have had small ones the past years but NOTHING like this. And the whole state felt them, at different times though, so i don't know if it is mother nature or not. I think that they should investigate though.
