No, actually I thought that by this time it would be sinking in the ratings. Reviews aren't good, and NBC is still hyping it like it was trying to save a sinking ship. It needs to be sinking, we can't afford two strong competitors.

It think it's great that HF-0 beat their usual competition. I'm not factoring the race in too much, because it's a once-a-year event that is hard for anyone to compete against.

I was curious about the same thing, and was wondering if maybe this was confirmation of something AOL had said about Americans that I vehemently disagreed with at the time: that Americans didn't get irony. Sometimes irony in written format doesn't come across the way it's intended.
I had always loved reading this forum, and occasionally contributing, because of how nice and knowledgeable everyone was to each other. Two contributors last week were both really great regarding some things I said and offered really well thought-out statements back to me. I know other forums allow people to abuse one another, and this one is a welcome respite. Not that Darksea was abusing anyone, but maybe a bit of an explanation might be in order. Pretend I'm an idiot, Darksea. :-)
Thanks, everyone.

Trina and Kiera, neither of you are idiots. It's a very sincere question and Darksea is always good at getting back with quick answers. Keep on posting!!

I was actually encouraged a little by the ratings. There is no way to compare H50 to a race that is compared to the Super Bowl in popularity. So, if you take that out of the picture, H50 still beat all other shows in both categories, and it was still above 9 million which is what we want. If you do consider the race and just guess at how many of the race viewers would've been watching H50, it's possible (in my mind, anyways) that we could've had one of the highest ratings so far this season. I know I'm probably one of the ones that don't get this stuff, but these were my first thoughts when I saw the numbers. I've thought about this for a couple of days now. I really hope I don't regret sharing this.

I don't mean to rain on the parade but..... For what it's worth, here's the ratings spin from the NY Times media reporters - no specific mention of H50, but the recap gives a breakdown of the of the ratings impact the race had by network.....bottom line, no good news for H50 any way you look at it - H50 viewers were down vs last week as was the demo, so unfortunately, bad news all around for H50 and actually some positive/encouraging news for "Smash", they did not loose viewers vs last week like H50 did. See analysis below....
Daytona 500 a Prime-Time Winner for Fox By BILL CARTER
The Daytona 500 produced a spectacular crash and some spectacular television competition Monday night, as Fox’s coverage of the stock car race pushed the network to the top of the ratings against the most formidable lineup of shows on CBS, NBC and ABC. The race also may have indirectly helped the new NBC drama “Smash.” After a steady decline, the show’s ratings leveled off for the first time since its premiere four weeks ago. The big NASCAR event attracted 14.1 million viewers for the prime-time hours of 8 to 11 p.m. and a 4.6 rating among the 18-to-49-year-old viewers most prized by advertisers. One clear result of the insertion into Monday’s lineup of the race, which had been postponed from Sunday afternoon, was a drop-off for some of the established Monday hits. All of CBS’s powerful comedies saw declines of 10 percent to 15 percent, with three of the shows posting their lowest ratings of the season. (CBS is traditionally the network with the best ratings among the less urban sections of the country that are also the home of many NASCAR fans.) NBC’s singing sensation “The Voice” also scored its lowest numbers of the season, down about 10 percent, though with a 5.4 average rating among the 18-to-49-year-old viewers, it still beat all its competition for those two hours, including the race, which averaged a 4.4 rating for those two hours. “The Voice” was also the most-watched show of the night, with 14.9 million viewers. The slight falloff for “The Voice” might have meant further bad news for “Smash,” which follows it at 10 p.m. But the Broadway drama was steady in its 18-49 rating this week, averaging a 2.3. If the show managed to stay there, it would be the best 10 p.m. performance on NBC in a long time. Another positive sign for “Smash” was that the audience did not fall off as much as it has been doing at the 10:30 half-hour, an indication that Monday’s episode, as many critics who previewed had it noted, was stronger than last week’s, which was not well received. The one lineup that seemed to feel no impact at all from the revving engines on Fox was ABC, which posted better numbers for both “The Bachelor” at 8 and “Castle” at 10. Both shows have heavily female audiences, presumably less vulnerable to the appeal of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and friends

I hope this link works. If not, I can refer you to the correct place on AOL Rocks. Obviously he is trying to joke around, but still . . . alexoloughlinvideos.com/videos/949/h50-alex-interview-rtl-beThanks. I hope I didn't open a can of worms. Initially I was just trying to show that maybe I and others misinterpreted Darksea's comment. Not adding fuel to the fire, but this is just another example of biting the hand that feeds you. I am sure Alex didn't mean anything bad about that comment, but spending a lot of time in Europe, I can say that there is a sense of superiority, yet everyone wants to make it in America. We do get irony, we just have a higher standard. I hope Alex and other stars Like him, remembers their comments as they leave their multi-million dollar homes to cash their paycheck. #just saying.

Twassbrake and Margarine -- Done. It now has it own thread in the Actor's lounge in the Alex O'Loughlin subsection. Sorry I didn't moved it sooner, but I had been in meetings all morning at work since, I had to take Tuesday and Wednesday off to stay home and take care of my puppy. Plus, I am currently working on very little sleep, I hope to get a update posted to the OT section later today or tomorrow, letting everyone who has been thinking and praying for me know how things are going.

There are some certain inviduals here that no matter how much you explain the facts to them in pure, plain, unadulterated english, they redirect and rearrange the facts as they want to see them in direct defiance of reality. This ratings information has been explained numerous times. But hey, if you all feel that I am abusing this board and you, just say so.
