Unfortunately the negativity of Lori is buoyed up by White, so the ratings probably won't drop as much as they did for Jenna. or, a lot of fans don't realize she's signed up for 12 eps minimum, and figure she's gone when Kono returns. Ugh, if they make her and Kono BFFs when Kono returns, that will be another barf fest. Unless they make her Kono's LI, which would maybe suit LG. But Hot Fong could easily beat the crap out of her in that case.

Hot Fong wouldn't damage his hands hitting a stick.

I'm really feeling uneasy about this whole picture. Darksea, can you please tell me what your gut is telling you. If the ratings keep dropping, will they pull the plug or call an emergency reshoot and change the immediate story line in hopes to save the show. I'm sure you have answered this many times before, but I haven't been able to think clearly all day because I'm really worried.

My gut is telling me that we are doing pretty well.
My experience in this is telling me that we are still doing pretty well. The ratings drop was across the entire time period, and virtually the entire night. I think it may have been the sporting events more than anything else. Next week should be interesting because with the cancellation of the Playboy Club, there are about 1.4 million people up for grabs that are not going to be desperate enough to watch Brian Williams to talk to himself. There could be an elevation in ratings next week.
So far, we are doing pretty well, because not a great dip in the ratings, and still, there are actions being taken. CBS is not going to cancel this show, because they have too much invested into it. They are going to want to please the majority of fans who are disappointed, so that they can bring in more viewers. But so far, we have had a change at CBS's website to get rid of humping balloons, we have Lori going from 'potential love interest' to 'victim of bad press' (aka backpedalling) there are changes already happening. Lori's scenes are starting to hit the floor I am pretty sure already, and she's being scaled back in future episodes already. They will not reshoot, because it is psychotically expensive to do such. If they are going to get rid of her, they will wait until the holiday hiatus, or at the end of 13 episodes, when they can rewrite and stop production.
So basically, as long as we stay the course, we are doing pretty well. We may get a character at least backgrounded without losing dramatic numbers.

I'm with davilarose, thanks, darksea, that's a relief. I wondered about something - she's got a contract to make X number of episodes, do they have to complete the episodes with her in them? i.e., if she shot scenes but they're deleted, and she doesn't show up onscreen, is her contract still fulfilled?

Yep. If she gets filleted out of the scenes she still shot them, and got paid for them.

Yes! That's just music to my ears! Thank you darksea! I get the feeling we're doing pretty well, too. Just keep doing what we're doing, we're making progress...

And-- as seems to be with any contract--they probably can 'buy her out'-that way she gets the money she initially signed on for.

wow, I just posted something like what you said somewhere else.... I must be channelling you, darksea.... I also said I wouldn't be surprised if they start to scale back her air time (which was the way it was intended all along, of course, us people just over reacted as usual).
re her getting her money even if she does nothing - you'd think it would be peanuts for CBS to pay (haha, salute to darksea) as opposed to what it will cost them if the fans who are getting fed up with Lori and all the other stupid changes start to leave.

12 episodes would be more like sunflower seeds to pay off than the millions CBS stands to lose if they lose watchers.

Continuity. The background storyline has to be aired in order with this particular series, they add bits to the mystery in each episode, so therefore if you air them out of order like they did this summer, there were parts that were hanging that made no sense if you were watching it for the first time.
They look like they are already making adjustments, but they can't make any drastic ones because of the advanced shooting schedule. They already have at least up to episode 7 completely done, and continue to shoot.

If they cut bait now and start over with episodes already in the can, then they would lose more than buying out her contract. Each episode costs about $1 million to make. In an immediate loss that would be the one thing that would kill the show. If they bought out her contract now, it would only cut her out of like 4 at this point.

Darksea, thank you for calming my fears. You really made me feel better and a lot more hopeful. To think that everyone's message is getting heard and PL is trying to make some changes for in the near future is just the best news and the news for which I longed to hear. I just might get more sleep tonight. Thanks to you!
