Hi Hope its okay to put this question here. Does anybody know if it has ever been mentioned in NCIS LA what rank Sam was in the Seals? No particular reason for asking I was just rewatching 206 and I wondered if one of them out ranked the other

Thanks Sunny , I should have thought of wiki. Thanks for the rank chart very interesting, quite a difference in rank between them. That is because the E ranks are for enlisted men whereas the O ranks are for Officers. The main difference between an enlisted man and a officer is that usually a officer has a college degree from Annapolis or another college where they participated in the ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) or was an enlisted man who was selected by the higher ups to attend officer candidate training (Which is what was portrayed in the Movie an Officer and a Gentleman which also happened to star David Keith who plays the SEAL commander Wade Gutches on H50). That being said though, when it comes to the SEALs it doesn't really matter if you are a enlisted man or an officer as they train side by side and expected to work side by side as a cohesive team irregardless of rank. Which means whoever is the expert at the task at hand will be in the leadership position of the team irregardless of whether they are an enlisted man or an officer. So if Sam and Steve were working on a team together and Sam was more qualified to handle the task at hand than Steve, Sam would be in the leadership position of the team. And, vice versa if Steve's skills were better.

You might also want to check out this website as it is the official recruiting site for the Navy SEALs. It has a lot of great videos and information on what it takes to become a SEAL and what it is like to be a SEAL. www.sealswcc.com/seal-default.aspx

Thanks Diana, I will have a look at that. I like to build a picture in my mind of what Steve might have been up to before H50.
