I love Jeff Dunham, a comedian and ventriloquist. My favorite characters are Walter and Achmed. Sister! Another Jeff Dunham fan, hooray! So many people don't know him. I haven't seen him in a long time on TV although I know he's done cable shows. And there are videos. I love ventriloquists in general, and he's got to be the best, although Terry Fator gives him a run for his money. Did you know they both come from the Dallas area? So do some other interesting people but I forget who it was that I was surprised about, some while back. Cool stuff. Jeff Dunham used to do a regular show once a year downtown because he'd come spend time with his family in Richardson, and I saw him once. It was fabulous. As for other regular comedians, I'm fond of Christopher Titus, Stephen Wright, and I count Craig Ferguson because it's his calling, as opposed to being a talk-show host. There's others, Steve Martin and Richard Lewis included, plus a raft of comedian-actors. I've discovered a great interview podcast that a comedian named Marc Maron does. He's fun himself, but he interviews a whole lot of comedians and actors. It's a thousand miles from your typical celebrity interview, he does an hour or more with interesting people and they talk about really interesting stuff. It's called WTF - or, what you think it is, and it's labeled on iTunes as "explicit", which means they don't restrain themselves in their language or topics. Not for kids, although the only person I didn't want to listen to was Andy Dick. He's kinda...off, as well as off-color. Something wrong with that guy.

I had never heard of Jeff until I caught one of his shows on the Comedy channel. I just about busted my gut I laughed so hard. I don't usually like stand-up comedians, but he is so funny. He's done a couple of shows near me, but for one reason or another I couldn't go -- maybe next time.
