Right now, where I am it just looks like a relatively "normal" rain storm. Higher winds than usual, but it's gotten worse since I've been up, and it's supposed to continue getting worse. Not sure if I'll have signal or electricity tonight for H50. It's already gone off once (momentarily) and given that conditions are supposed to get worse....let's just say I'll be here if I'm able. I know watching the show isn't the most important thing, but I just wanted to let you all know.
Praying for everyone being hit by the storm. Keep safe!

Musicfreak, I just wrote you because I was worried. I should've checked here first. You be careful! Thank you so much for keeping us updated as much as you can.
Goldberry, I can't believe you're on a cruise ship right now. I hope you are having the time of your life. You be careful, too.
Isn't Sportsmom from right outside of New York City? Has anyone heard from her to know if she is there or evacuated? Sportsmom, if you're still around, I'm praying for you, too.
Is there anybody else that I've missed that lives directly in New York? I know Nicnac does, but she isn't around anymore.

Winds are picking up, but I haven't lost power. It's flickered a few times. Apparently the storm is now going to hit us at around 6:00 (I think originally they were thinking around 8:00). Hoping all our east coast members are safe and dry.
Oh joy, it looks like we'll be getting some snow, too. Lovely.

Scarlarose, I'm amazed I'm on a cruise ship too--I would have thought they would have cancelled. It's obviously about money to a great extent. And a lot of passengers did not cancel because travel insurance does not cover Acts of God/Mother Nature. We have gotten through the worst of it, but there were some problems--things breaking, water coming in windows and doors, etc..... I have to hand it to the captain--I think he picked the safest route. The port of Bayonne is closed, so I don't think staying there would have been an option, or desirable, given the conditions.
I am hearing about New York and hoping my friends and family are safe. It sounds a lot worse than Irene.

I'm keeping all of you in my heart tonight.

the crane dangling on west 57th street is scary. sure floods all over the place, but the water will recede, but that crane is probably going to be dangling for another day or two. yikes

The pictures and video footage, and stats on damage and power outages are incredible.
Even up here we got a bit of Sandy effects (I'm in south central Ontario). Torrential rains and wind gusts up to 100 km/h, flooding, some power outages. A woman was killed in Toronto when she was struck by a storefront sign ripped free by the wind, and some trees came down on top of houses.
I can only imagine what the hardest hit areas down in the States and East Coast Canada are experiencing right now.

Hope everyone is doing ok after the storm. Luckily I never lost power, it only flickered a few times and went out very very briefly. Just watching the footage of the damage has me thanking God it wasn't worse where I am, although it's much worse in areas across my state. Continuing to keep all those effected by the storm in my prayers.
Wondering how anyone else here effected by it is doing?

How is everyone in NY doing? Some parts of it still have no power, and there was really bad flooding. Where I am in Canada, we really had nothing, my area at least looks clean. There's two houses being built behind mine and I thought for sure we'd have debris flying around (and my kid's rooms face that side, so I was scared something might fly through their windows), but nothing. One of their fences did fall though, but not the one we share. And no flooding in my basement either, which really had me worried. We did lose power on and off leading up to it, then no power for about 3 hours, but we were all asleep so no big. We did have one death, though, which was sad. Not far from where we are, and before the "big" part of the storm hit.

Musicfreak, I can't begin to tell you how excited I was to see you on here after seeing and hearing all the news about New York. We still have some others that I hope we will hear from real soon. I had no idea that Canada was being affected that much by Sandy so I'm glad to know that you all are okay. If we can keep getting everybody to check in one by one, then I'll relax. We had enough wind to blow off siding and some lost electricity for a minute here in Indiana. I believe Ohio got it worse than we did. I wonder how Dianno is.
