OK, I haven't actually watched yet, but didn't I see an episode where Danno Clone of a Different Tone has a ex-partner friend who is found dead missing, and is accused of being a dirty cop killing someone, so Steve helps out a friend and solves the case? Did I miss a memo somewhere announcing the departure of Danno, so that Grover can take his place? For those of you not as cynical as I, there was an episode where the new Gov had a friend who was accused of killing someone. And the whole Danno ♥ Amber thing... I've written my piece about that already too, but I'll wait to post it until I give the episode a fair shot.

Well-it wasn't too bad--actually kind of good. But why are Steve and Grover paired up?? The 3 way cargument among Steve, Danny and Grover was kind of funny.... The Amber character is OK--but why are they bringing in yet another love interest on this show? And since when is Lt. Rollins doing the Reserve thing? I thought she retired/quit the Navy...or is one required to do Reserve stuff...not sure how that works. I am just a musician.

So, this is what my comments would look like if I had a laptop and could post while watching: - Adam, looking good in a scruffy, Game of Thrones way. - Monkey is cheerleading - is there any activity this kid isn't into? - Because of the evils of foreknolwedge, are we seeing foreshadowing here to when Amber becomes thing #2 in Danno's life? - Fong again - the good looking guys are back. - Grover is funny. So's Danno. Won't say any more. But in all fairness, the Danno-Grover exchange was great. - Humble Steve? Perish the thought. - Kept thinking "where's Rick Springfield" during the beach shot. - Feels like a deja-vu of old cases, but OK, it's interesting. - Has to be said: How long have Grover and Steve been married? - And the best part of this episode - the ohana is whole again.

OK, Amber could have potential. She seems like a fun girl. But she is 19, doesn't look that much older, even if she can act older. Is part of the character supposed to be that she looks like 19 but is older and that'll be part of the "fun" when the age difference gag begins? This is what I wrote when I found out (about 2 days ago) that Danno was getting a new very young girlfriend.
So I guess TPTB weren’t done assassinating Danno’s character yet, because here’s the man who dumped his grown-up girlfriend because she wasn’t stable enough for his little girl, for a girlfriend who’s maybe 10 years older than said little girl. Yes, Svengali-Danno has always been somewhat of a clown – but he used to have dignity.
Oh well, since TPTB seem to be intent on getting the cheap laughs, I’ll just have to embrace it. I mean, love is blind, love conquers all, and what is age against love? I really don’t have a problem with age-different relationships, but in Danno's case it just seems weird. Won’t it be hilarious when Monkey and Amber do BFF stuff together – like paint their toenails and giggle over boys (tee hee, Monkey’s dad)? Won’t it be so much fun if Danno and Amber go on a double date with Monkey and her boyfriend, and Amber has more in common with Monkey’s boyfriend than with Danno? H50 should get a laugh track, I think. Won’t it be heartbreaking when Danno has to fight the angst of being an older man in love with a teenybopper girlfriend? Can't wait for the jokes to come about her looking more like his daughter than his girlfriend. And of course, now I'm waiting to see if Danno Sr. is also having a fling with a young thing, and that's why Mama Williams has left him. Like father, like son?

Wow----Dannos Dani-You make some good points. I guess the age thing somehow escaped me...she is young..I guess I didn't think she is supposed to be that young. I can be dense after a long day.

But, then, maybe the whole point of bringing this young woman into Danny's life is to make him realize that as much "fun" as someone so young can be, there's quite an age difference and despite Gabby's current distance, she's the one for him. Or maybe we'll find out that Danny's father has had himself a bit of a fling with a younger woman and Danny realizes he doesn't want to be like him. Or maybe he doesn't even realize how young she is (she certainly doesn't look 19 to me) until he sees her and Grace bonding over a love of One Direction. For every laughable scenario, I can think of one that might make a little more sense. I'm willing to at least give them the chance to explore this idea to see where it goes before I think they're turning H5-0 into "Danny and Amber's Next Great Adventure." Not saying it won't happen but I do seriously doubt that the writers are going to fill the scripts with a weekly "fun" scene with Danny, Amber and Grace.

I love this Review from TVFanatic
The overall theme of Hawaii Five-0 Season 4 Episode 12 was this:
There's a time to run and a time to face the consequences of our actions.
In fact, several of the characters had to face up to their past in order to move forward in their futures. Danno felt an acute loss for the time when his daughter was a baby and did not want to face the truth that she is growing up.
Lou had to face the fact that a longtime friend was not the person he thought he was and had to accept his friend for who he really was -- as well as confront a few internal ghosts of his own.
Chin Is Questioned
And Lou's friend, Jack Anderson, had to finally stop running from that awful crime he had committed years ago that cost a woman her life and admit who he really was and to pay for his actions.
On the happy-endings side, Kono finally found Adam, who had been in hiding fearing for his life, and let him know that it was over and that he was free to return home.
Their tear-filled reunion was brief, but only a prelude to the warm welcome he received when she brought him back, and there were hugs from everyone. They were all only too happy to close the chapter on that part of their lives.
Another new beginning that shows promise was Danno meeting Amber Vitale. Their moment at the gas station proved fortuitous as Danno was close by when she was inadvertently shot by a kid playing with a rifle on his father's fishing boat.
Bookending Danno and Amber's meet-cute was how she awoke at the hospital to find him sitting their and they finally introduce themselves. Sometimes there is such a thing as love at first sight and there was certainly an instant connection and attraction between Danno and Amber. Even Steve noticed and good-naturedly ribbed Danno about it.
A second strong theme of this episode was the importance of connections in everyone's lives. The people we share our lives with not only make up our teammates and friends, but also our family. The familial love was strongly felt here.
One fun example was when both Steve and Lou passed the phone back and forth while talking with Danno in an effort to lend their support and advice as Danno worried that his daughter was growing up too fast. Steve may have had the more soothing advice and Lou the more tough-love advice, but just knowing that both cared enough to offer their advice made Danno feel less alone while being in a fatherly freak-out zone.
One priceless moment was when Danno complained, "It's like her innocence is floating up into space or something" and the best advice Lou could offer was, "Father time is not your friend.
It was felt again as Steve tried to get Lou to talk about why Lou moved from Chicago. There is clearly some heavy guilt and angst weighing on Lou from whatever send him fleeing from the mainland to their tropical paradise. Lou's pain was acutely felt as he told Jack, "You don't think I know what living with regret is like. Everyday I look in the mirror and think to myself: What if I did this? What if I did that? So welcome to the club, my friend."
People move to Hawaii for two reasons: 1. To escape from their problems. 2. To reinvent themselves.
Lou obviously did that, as did Jack. It was also hinted at in the first conversation between Danno and Amber. He has only been on the island for four years and she had just recently moved there -- both to start again. To have a fresh start. He wanted to be close to his daughter and build up a relationship with her; and for Amber, her reasons for needing to escape and reinvent have not yet been revealed.
But she felt that instant connection with Danno as a fellow escapee, and appreciated his open acceptance and candor without prying into her motives for moving to the island.
Even Chin had a moment where we could see he had faced a loss in the past in his own life and how he had chosen to move on. When the husband of the dead women asked, "Have you ever had someone you love stolen from you?" Chin responded that he had.
But certainly he was not letting that weigh on him and hold him back from moving on in his life. It is just unfortunate that the husband had not chosen to move on too. Instead, he let his anger fester within him. He even admitted, "Hate corrodes the container it's carried in."
It sounds poetic, but in reality, it is sad that he threw away his life to allow that hatred to grow to a point that he tracked down and tried to kill the man who killed his wife. It cost him years of his life, and now will cost him even more.
He chose a life of without love, hope and forgiveness and now will pay for that decision by going to prison for attempted murder. He could have just as easily picked up the phone and told the police where Jack was; instead, he chose to enact his revenge. But there is a dire price to be paid for vengeance.
In the end, we saw how choosing the better path was more rewarding. For Chin, he was happy and moving on and he was rewarded by the safe return of Kono and Adam. For Danno, he chooses to be there for his daughter even as she grows up quickly before his eyes so he cannot miss one more second of her life. For Lou, he is learning to not push people away and accept their warm welcome into their lives -- even if he feels he does not deserve it.
And Jack, after facing up to his crimes, may get to return to his family one day too, or at least set a good example for his own children.
As for Steve, well, he knows the value of the friendship and family around him. He may have a few secrets still tucked inside, but he embraces the love and strives to be a better man. He lends his strength to those around him and they all strengthen each other.
As the episode closed, the final words were: "It's good to be home." And what a wonderful, warm, loving, accepting home they have created for one another. It is something we all would love to be a part of, which is why we are thankful for an all new episode next week. t is a chance to be a part of their family one week at a time. 'Til then... -

Agree with what you said, Dannos Dani. Enjoyed reading the TV Fanatic review, Mandyblue. Liked the basic story line. Glad Ohana back. Didn't know Cath was in the reserves but glad she isn't totally out of the Navy. Although that wasn't made clear from the beginning. How typical! Don't really like Danny's new girlfriend. Gabby a better role model for Grace and a better match for Danny. Don't see the point in a new younger girlfriend. Funny three way cargument.

Not saying it won't happen but I do seriously doubt that the writers are going to fill the scripts with a weekly "fun" scene with Danny, Amber and Grace. I don't see TPTB bringing back Gabby, although I would prefer her over Amber, even though I could never figure out what they have in common. Since she wasn't ever in the picture much, we never did find out. Could never figure out what Rachel and Danno had in common, either. Also agree that they won't turn it into the Danno♥Amber hour, but I don't look forward to Danno being the butt of all the age-difference humour, while the Clone gets all the good comic lines. I appreciate there is a wealth of material to be used with the whole age difference thing, whether comic or serious, but I just hate to see Danno being the recipient of it. Monkey will have fun explaining to everyone that no, this isn't her sister, but her future possible mother. That'll sit well with her, like fiveofan pointed out. And MaryAnn and Amber can always bond over their mutual experiences with older men. And of course it'll be fun to watch Danno explain to Mama Williams why her son is also having a midlife crisis, especially if they do the Rizzoli & Isles thing I mentioned in another post, and Danno Sr. is indeed having an affair with a young chickie as well. They can make it either funny or serious, but either way I'm not liking it. Maybe Lili doesn't look 19 wearing full makeup, but she is. There must be a dearth of 25-year-old actresses all of a sudden, if that's the age they want her to play, which is as far as I think they can push it. Something else I was thinking about after the episode - how come the Clone has always harassed Steve about his unorthodox methods, yet when he wanted to find out where his friend was, he had no problem pulling a totally SuperSEAL move on the guy at the hospital? Another Danno cloning moment to add to my list = that first time we saw the dark side of by-the-book Danno (strapping ex-Balky to the car hood to get info off him about his dead ex-partner). Really, is the Clone being written in (without much effort new-character-wise) to replace Danno because Scott is off filming?

This show is becoming human, don't you guys think? Hmm, yeah, maybe. But I get 'human' in real life, I watch Five-0 to hear carguments and watch Steve blow things up.

I just got home from work and watched it, and it was okay.
* The storyline was interesting.
* Too much Grover, still taking over for Danny. Although Danny did have another case to work, it still seems odd to not be paired with Steve. And for the record, yes, I do think Danny is jealous of Grover, and he has every right to be.
* PL can put any age he wants to Amber character, but that just can't change the fact that she is far too young for Danny. Although, I will admit that it was funny watching him gush over her a bit. But that's as far as it should go. Perhaps these eyelash fluttering moments are just meant to stroke Danny's ego a git. Okay, I can deal with that, or some teasing from Steve and Chin would be good, too. But another love interest is not necessary, especially when he just dumped Gabby over stability for Grace.
* It was good to see Steve looking good in full gear in the forest. And Grover in the poisonous plant was funny.
* The 3-way phone call (sorry, can't call it a 'cargument' because those are only between Steve and Danny) was funny. Always love Danny in daddy-mode.
*Why did Amber wake up in the hospital and not ask what had happened? I mean, wouldn't you? I'd kinda wanna know, 'What the heck just happened? How did I end up here? Someone shot me?! Why?' No, 'So, what's your name?' does not top my list.
* Good to see Kono back, but her reunion with Adam was totally anticlimactic and lame. I was greatly disappointed in that. She's come from not from far away... but another continent(!) to find him and he says, "You shouldn't be here." Seriously?! Hug and kiss the woman you love first, then let reality sink in and say that, you idiot! At least the ending with them arriving at McG's house was good. Although it would have been more 'complete' if Kono had said something to Steve about keeping a promise.
* Catherine is in the reserves? Since when? Do the writers just randomly add stuff so the storyline makes sense, even though there is no continuity? Probably.
