So Steve's stressy episodes are starting already. Boy, I can remember vividly when Steve was chomping at the bit, wanting to jump on the 5-0 wagon when the Gov offered it to him .... well, I kinda remember it .... do I? Yeah. Neither can anyone else. I love how 5-0 history gets rewritten for the benefit of a new storyline. Hello Jerry! Love Jerry the badass. H50 men should know that H50 women never stay in the car when told to. So what's Adam up to now? Did he get himself a new dishwasher job? Does he still run what's left of his dad's business? Grover fancies himself Cupid now and sets Clara up on a date. Danno's head really is going to explode. Zi's doing a Jenna. Please reread comment about H50 women and cars. Steve's got himself a new odd couple.

Steve's got himself a new odd couple. I would have thought Steve's stressy/PTSD episodes would have started long before this...maybe we are to imagine they were happening all along. I hate that they are tweaking the story line to fit what ever is coming up...sigh. No, Steve was not chomping at the bit to join 5-0. It wasn't until he realized he would have more control over the investigation and get more done faster with the means and immunity the Governor was offering that he called her to take the job. The writers/TPTB haven't learned. I thought there was too much Clara/Grover in this episode....it was cute, but had nothing to do with anything. Over all I thought it was a good episode. Could have used more Kono and Chin. I will be glad when Danny's family drama is over.

This was an ok episode for me. I thought so much was going on that the case of the week felt rushed. They came to conclusions so easily(eg..Taylor...Jorge knew the exact Taylor place they needed to go to). I thought Danno was a bit whiny but understand that's his character and he always comes through in the end. I have to admit I was a bit jealous when McG sought out Grover instead of Danno in his time of need. And while I love a good cargument, MgG and Danno's banter felt more mean spirited. The bromance wasn't there for me.... I will say I like Grover's character more now than I did....but I'm not sure why we need him in the first place..... And I agree, Danno's Dani, McG has got to come up with a better way to secure custody of women he doesn't want interfering in the chase...I think we all saw that coming..... Not sure what's going on next week..the promo was pretty weak other than Danno's Dad coming to visit, which is a good thing....

Maybe it is just me, but I have noticed that Steve and Danny seem to have fewer scenes together. I know we have had a couple of episodes where they are together and we have a Danny whump episode coming up where they will be together. But, overall it seems they are on screen less and less. And when they are, there isn't always Bromnace. And yeah, Steve should have been talking to Danny after his nightmare/flashback. Just an observation on my part.

I agree that the writers like to rewrite history for a new storyline. Steve should have been talking to Danny or Cath about his war experiences . Felt like Steve took the 5-0 job to catch his dad's killers not running away from something. He should have said he was dealing with stress from being tortured and finding out his mom was still alive. Oh, whatever. Seems like cath came out of nowhere. No mention about how her reserves stint went. Love Jorge . How does Cath feel about the new houseguest. Liked the ending. We got the intel after all. Ready for Clara arc to be over. Some cute scenes with her and Grover. Some good one liners Don't mind him he woke up on the wrong side of life You are my back up - a nice nod to the pilot episode

Maybe its because of Steve's PTSD coming out slowly that Steve and Danny's banter felt mean spirited and the bromance felt off because of this. So from now until the final episode it get a bit worst every week and then the full blast in the final or it gets carried into the next season. Here is what peter said about it
Linda Stein @lindastein1 · 12h I really hope that's not all we're gonna see of Steve's PTSD! Too much potential for great acting from Alex to let that be it! #H50
Peter M. Lenkov @plenkov · 13m “@lindastein1: I really hope that's not all we're gonna see of Steve's PTSD! #H50” that's unfolds very slowly
Peter M. Lenkov @plenkov · 10 mins “@lindastein1: @plenkov YES! Thank you! There's somuch potential for some great acting from Alex w/this. DVD will have more of that story 2
Peter M. Lenkov @plenkov · 15 mins “@brjericho7: @plenkov Steve dealing with PTSD?sounds like things are gonna hit the fan between now and the Finale *GULP*” not that fast

Loved this Review from TV FANATIC
The hour offered a stark look at how one can be simultaneously disillusioned of the world we actually live in and also compelled by our sense of duty to do something for the greater good.
Unfortunately, it was an episode of sad realizations for two strong women -- Clara and Elaine Tan.
On one hand, there was Clara yearning for a little adventure. She wanted to peek behind the curtain into Danny's world and see what excitement he deals with on a day to basis in his job. She also wanted to have a romantic adventure and see what it was like to go on a date with another man.
Both were not what she expected.
Watch Hawaii Five-0 Season 4 Episode 16 Online She was saddened to realize that she really did not want to know how dangerous her son's job was and even more saddened to realize that going on a date with someone other than her husband just was not as fun and exciting as she thought, either.
Then, separately, the Chinese agent Elaine Tan had to face the harsh truth that her ex-fiance had betrayed her and their country all in hopes of scoring a quick pay day by selling the fallen Chinese satellite intel to the highest bidder.
Fearful of being labeled a traitor and co-conspirator by her government, Elaine had to move quickly to track down her ex-fiance Quong and secure the intel before her own life would be deemed forfeit. In those final moments as she stood facing Quong, she was still hopeful that he would value her life and the love they shared over his greed; but as he pulled the trigger shooting her, she was forced to do the same.
She survived her wound, but he lie dying on the pavement and the satellite hard-drive seemed irrevocably damaged as it had been hit by one of the bullets during their gunfire exchange.
It must have hurt her doubly-hard to learn how little Quong had actually loved her. But her love and loyalty was to her country, especially with her life on the line.
In many ways, Steve and Danny were on the sidelines for this episode. They were there for every part of the investigation and for every action-packed scene, but the true story for this installment was the harsh realizations that both Clara and Elaine had to face.
The episode set up their stories perfectly. It was fun watching Clara getting picked up at Danny's house by Lou, as Danny practically sputtered over the idea of his mother going on a ride-along for the day. It was also great watching Clara bond with Lou over raising children and the sadness over how her marriage could have ended in such a non-eventful way.
It was even more fun watching Clara and Lou at the shooting range and Clara being hit upon by the gun tech and then how Lou finagled to set her up on a date. It was the day of big adventure that Clara wanted.
But as she stood by the SWAT car and realized for the first time how physically dangerous her son's job was virtually every day and yet how proudly and competently he did it, we watched the reality of Danny's world really begin to sink in. It was even more etched on her face after Clara's date and she resignedly sat down with the ice cream container with Danny on the sofa and she admitted that everything she thought would be exciting and fun had ended up being more scary and weird than she was ready to face.
It culminated in a beautiful moment with Danny and his mom leaning on each other as that life realization sunk in. Life always sounds so exciting until you actually get to see what it is really like.
Jorge Garcia Guest Stars
Danny's mom has lived a very content, sheltered life until this separation with is father. She just thought it would be fun to see what Danny's job was really like and thought it would be fun to go out on a date with a new man. Reality is just never as rosy as one dreams it could be. Reality always feels a bit more like a dash of cold water.
Then for Elaine, her bubble burst the day she realized her fiancé had taken off in search of the fallen Chinese satellite.
Had their entire relationship just been an opportunist's con to get close and score a big payday? Or did he simply choose money over her even after all their time together? Either way, it hurt her to the core. He had left the second his opportunity to cash in arose, leaving her to answer to her government for his betrayal and possibly losing her life in the process.
Fortunately, Elaine had a strong sense of duty and loyalty to her country -- even if it meant tracking down her ex-fiance and killing him in the process to recover the satellite hard drive. Her heart would mend, but she may never trust as easily again. Another dash of cold reality had been thrown upon her.
In Danny and Steve's world, they were doing everything they needed to do to track down the killers and recover the missing satellite intel.
With the aid of Jerry, Chin Ho, Kono and Catherine (she's back!), they back-tracked Quong's credit card and hacked his email to intercept the sale of the satellite hard drive.
The usual antics and banter were at play between all the characters. It was actually funny to watch Jerry taser Elaine after she pulled a gun on him in his mother's basement. It was fun watching Danny and Steve bicker over the top of the car about how Steve set up Danny's mom with the ride along with Lou.
It was great to see Catherine back in the mix as part of the team and her supposedly top secret rendezvous in the park with Jerry in tow. So the entire Five-O team were in fine form as they tracked down Quong in quick fashion.
It was also reassuring to see Steve at the top of his game, despite the fact he was having trouble sleeping and having nightmares about his friend Freddy killed in action.
Clearly still grieving and haunted by survivor's guilt, Steve has some deep-rooted issues to work through. But he was smart enough to call Lou to have someone to talk to and work it out a bit. Suffering in solitary silence was not helping and the act of reaching out to someone was really the best thing he could do.
Like in previous Hawaii Five-0 episodes, it was fantastic watching Steve and Lou bond over a common history of grief and guilt and recognizing that they both ran away from the situations that terrified them. Yet running away can be healthy too when distance is need to get perspective and time to let hearts and minds heal.
The fact that Steve is reaching out and trusting Lou is a huge step. Plus, it is just great watching them in scenes together. Alex O'Loughlin and Chi McBride just knocked those scenes out of the park.
The shocker of the night had to be the ending scene where Steve handed over the Chinese satellite intel to the U.S. government. Once a soldier, always a soldier.
Steve knew instinctively that information could be damaging to the U.S., so he secured it and wiped the hard drive before returning it. Yet he did not have to turn it over to the U.S. government, and he did. His sense of duty compelled him too.
He may now work for Five-O, but he will always be loyal and true to his country first and foremost. It was strong reminder of who Steve is at his core. He is not just a cop. He is a soldier in a police uniform.
That is why he is haunted by a friend who was killed in action saving his life and why he works tirelessly every day to repay that debt and no only keep the streets safe, but the entire nation safe. Whatever it takes. It is a piercing reveal behind Steve's careful facade. It is something to keep an eye on too. That duty runs deep.
Finally, special mention should be made of the cold opening for this episode. Watching the satellite crash down through the atmosphere and into the ocean by the boat was spectacular.
Then as the trio on the boat quickly turned around, there loomed the giant freighter where the militants stood with machine guns and then there was a hail of bullets. It was a scene set up perfectly to catch our attention. It was the excitement and wonder turning into absolute terror that captured our attention. Well done.
It also served to keep us invested in the investigation as we felt more connected to the victims and wanted their killers caught and brought to justice -- even if that justice was of the eye-for-and-eye variety. And there certainly was a lot more bullets flying when our heroes did catch up with the killers.

The fact that Steve went to Grover bugged me too. Now they're best buds and Danno just seems like the jealous girlfriend. So Steve's not sleeping well (for apparently some time now) - and Grover is the one that notices? The new best bud? Not the ohana that's known him for years now and has seen him at his highest and lowest? Don't buy either. The whole stress thing - I know it's a new idea for the show, but I hate it when they start pulling stuff out of the air that has no backstory whatsoever - like when Kono turned out to be seeing Adam. That whole Steve was tired of the Navy bla bla bla because his best friend in the world got killed saving him - there was never a mention of something like that. But I'll forgive a totally new thing that never happened, over changing existing history. Do the writers have any concept of continuity?

Didn't bother me one bit that Steve went to Grover - Grover had opened that door in the previous episode, they are both haunted by the loss of someone. And sometimes you reach out to different friends for different reasons - why should it have to be Danny, or Chin, or Kono? Clearly the writers are building off of Grover's backstory as revealed in the previous episode. It did surprise me that Steve mentioned being sour on the Navy as the main reason he came back to Hawaii, not to go after his father's murderer, but I am also not bothered by this new info - it does build on the Freddie story and if it moves this season's upcoming plot along, why not? As long as things generally fit in, I just see it as more character development. I did find it a bit unrealistic in the opening scene that the salvage ship (which was large) magically and instantly appeared next to the fishing ship - wouldn't they have seen it off in the distance beforehand, and could a ship that large move that quickly to come out of nowhere? Usually I can let the reality check go but this was rather unbelievable to me. As an aside, I'm re-watching S3 and Danny mentions in the roller derby episode that his mother was a huge roller derby fan - add that to our picture of Clara now that she has made her appearance.

I'd forgotten Freddy's the one Steve went to get (or rather, to find out why his body was the wrong body).... thought the footage looked somewhat familiar. And I guess we ass-ume he kept the bit about being tired of the Navy to himself all these years. OK, so it all makes a bit more sense now. And there'll be buildup to when he totally loses it (especially with Cath going back there? Maybe she'll get lost there?). Yeah, maybe it makes sense he went to Grover with this rather than the others, since Grover had his own post tramautic thing to deal with. But still don't want more characters to take over for the Core Four.

Steve having some flashbacks and seeing in combat the loosing of Freddie Hart. Will we see more of this or is it leading to something?? Will Steve have to see someone about it? I'm surprised he talked to Grover and not Catherine. But he had helped Grover on his problems a little while back. Also Steve woke without Catherine there? They taking a break? Surprised Kwon Low and his team would leave the big chunk of shrapnel in the side of the boat. Without it you have less evidence on what happened.
Grover and Clara Williams doing the run around was cute. Going to the gun range. But I knew it had to end up at a crime scene. Surprised they all stood around as the Bomb Squad took care of the bomb under the dead Agent. She had to come and see what Danno was doing. Grover said they have to send up the 5-0 Grover Bat Signal. A little full of himself? Lunch at Komekona's Shrimp truck nice. Her date later with Officer Kevin Palmer I thought would make Danny upset. But it didn't seem to. But it looks like she will want to be back with her hubby anyway. No Gracie tonight.
Nice to see Jerry Ortega(Hurley from Lost) back. He bunked with Steve after Zi had found his lair. Thought there would be more to that. He also worked with Catherine was cute. I figured in the shootout with Kwons gang that Zi would escape and stop him . But Steve finding them both down was a surprise. I thought that the Admiral Graham Rhodes might have been hiding something. Seems at the end that Steve was hiding something. He met the guy on the bench and passed on the info. that he told Chinese Intelligence Agent Zi Chen(Karen Chow) they could not retrieve from the hard drive. Will more come from this? Will she be back? '
