First off I don't know what good place to post such thread so I thought here might be better. Second I understand some of you love the show the way is it yet there is many ways to improve the reboot. Think of this like a game
-Have Carguments contribute to the case and the story and not just bicker over pointless things -Have stunts and action done realistically -Have the champ box thing last one season. Have each season focus on different subject -Keep Bromace -Hire good story editors to make the storyline better -Hire actors who are willing to stay in the show as long as you want them -Hire better actress for Lori -Remove soap opera stuff -Have stories focus on different kinds of crimes other then just murder and kidnapping -Have stories focus on Hawaiian culture and nationalism -Have Duke(Played by a Native Hawaiian Polynesian), Truck, Ben, Kimo, and Lori joined the Five-O at the beginning -Have Kono played by a Polynesian woman -Have Wo Fat be a leader of a Shadowy Government -Hire better composers
My idea of the pilot would would almost be the same as Lenkov's pilot expect that Steve was unhappy with the way HPD is and decided to form his Hawaii Five-O to set things strieght.
What do you think?

I'm not sure I'd want Steve to just decide to form Five-0 as that would give them no real authority to do anything. They'd almost be vigilantes and that's hardly realistic. They need the backing of the Governor to be able to do what they do.
We don't really know that they've hired actors who aren't willing to stay on the show as long as they want them to. No one has left yet so I'm not sure who you're talking about. I don't think Five-0 needed to have five other people as part of the group and I apologize for not recalling who Truck, Ben and Kimo are. I like Duke where he is and I like the actor who plays him. I couldn't stand Lori; they tried to make her superwoman but her deeds didn't match her claims. I actually laughed out loud when she claimed to be a shot put champion in school. I doubt she'd have been able to put the shot any more than a dozen feet. I'd never have written her into the show in the first place ... but if I did, I wouldn't have hired the actress who played her as I just didn't think she fit the part. Truthfully, by the time Jenna was killed, I had started to like her character so I think I might have kept her working with Five-0 a little longer. I'd have Grover stay with SWAT as that was a good relationship for Five-0 to have. Duke is great as their sort of liaison with HPD and I think Grover could have been the same with SWAT. I also thought that Catherine should have stayed with the Navy and been assigned as a liaison with Five-0. She could have worked with them legitimately instead of always worrying that she was going to be caught using Navy resources to help a civilian organization. They wrote Catherine into a corner and couldn't find a way to get her out.
I like Grace Park as Kono so I don't see a need for her to have been played by someone else.
I like the carguments and the bromance, too, and I don't really mind that the champ box went more than a season but by now we should have had some resolution to it. As much as I like to hear that the show has been renewed for another season, I just know it means that we won't know everything there is to know about the champ box. To me, that storyline should have been resolved along with the Shelburne mystery.
I kinda like some of the "personal" storylines; I don't know if that's what you mean by soap opera. For example, I liked meeting Danny's family but I think that would have been a great time for the Matt storyline to be resurrected. And I think having Tom Berenger in only one scene, and barely interacting with Danny, was really a poor use of the actor. I'd write Gracie in more often as Teilor Grubbs is developing into a good little actress. She seemed awkward when they only gave her a word or two to say but with more dialogue she seems much more natural and I'd really like to see more of her and Danny together.
I don't have an issue with the writers or the music so no real comment about that.
I'd bring back James Caan as he was a well-used character and an interesting one. I wouldn't have given Aunt Deb a terminal illness because Carol Burnett was also well-used and even though she's back this season, I can't imagine we'll have the opportunity to see her again unless they decide that her terminal illness is no longer terminal. They've had some really good actors who were poorly used. Peter Fonda and Patty Duke really jump out as examples of that. So I'd say either use the actors for more than a cameo or give a local actor the part.
The only stunts that I've thought were absolutely too far-fetched were those that were CGI like Wo Fat's escape with the help of a helicopter and a monster big clamp and landing a plane on (I think) Kalakaua Avenue/Street/whatever. I haven't really minded the outrageous stunts (like jumping out of a window and landing two stories below) because that's what the show is about. Get things done in an unorthodox way. And the stunts contribute to that so I don't think I'd change that ... except I'd only do stunts that can actually be done by a person. No more CGI ... that's when they really blow it for me.
So ... having said all that, I don't dislike the show as much as you do. I would hate to see it turn into a copy of the original Five-0 because when I watch that now it doesn't hold my attention as it did when it originally aired. Sure, I have a lot of things I'd like to see changed but I still tune in every Friday night because I genuinely like the show and not because I'm hoping to see them imitate the original.

I don't wanted it a copy of the Original Series, just improving the reboot.
And I meant for Steve to get backup from the Governor. And while it's a neat idea to showcase families, I would have them appear the right time and have them connect to the case. I too would have Grover stayed a SWAT and not the part of Five-O

I too would have Grover stayed a SWAT and not the part of Five-O Not sure I understand what you mean. You said your idea was different except that Steve wasn't happy with HPD so he decided to form Five-0. But then you said he would get backup from the Governor. Do you mean Steve has the idea to form the task force and goes to the Governor for support rather than the Governor has the idea to form the task force and asks Steve to run it? If that's what you mean, I don't really see that as a big difference because we still end up with Five-0. How would you change that? Like, for instance, how Steve met Danny or recruited Chin and then Kono. Would you change those things? And you mentioned at least five other people as part of 5-0. How would you bring them in? And, really, I wasn't being snippy about Truck and Kimo and Ben ... I don't recall anyone on the show with those names (except the Ben who was an old friend of Kono's but I don't think you mean him, do you ... no police background). The offices would be kind of crowded with all those people and we'd lose the core-four by trying to give so many people a storyline. And I'm not sure I really said we should showcase families. I liked that both Steve's and Danny's mothers had a storyline but we've had four full seasons and except for the few episodes they've been in and the episodes in which Grace was kidnapped and Matt visited, families haven't really been showcased. If the families only appeared when they connected to the case, 5-0 wouldn't have much family. How many crimes can someone's family be involved in? I just like the little moments that we get so the show doesn't only focus on the crime of the week like so many of the police shows set in NY.

Wow ritter if you want this much changing on the show why are you watching in the first place. Why watch a TV program you don't like. I love the show as it is. If I could change anything here are the 3 thing that I would do.
Take Grover off the team and put him back as the Captain of Swat. As I love how the relationship with Steve and Grover developed in season 4 and Steve could have friend out side the team and still help them.
Get rid of Jerry he is a waste of space and takes screen time away from Chin and Kono.
Bring back Cath but not in the team did not work out, and the writers did not know what to do with her. Cath needs to be in the Navy bases at pearl Harbour to help Steve and rest of the team.
