I'm just going to say, without any specific comments about the storylines, that I kinda didn't like that we had Chin, Kono and Grover investigating one series of crimes and then Steve and Danny were investigating the counterfeiting with Jerry. And it's not that I didn't find the storylines interesting as they were okay. But it just seems that they have too many principals now so we don't get to see everyone working together as we did when it was just the core four. I'm not sure I like the crowded credits that takes that away from us.

It was a good episode but I agree-too many regulars. If I never see Jerry again I will be happy. I would rather see Kamekona as the informer extra but that's it. I like Ellie but I feel it is too soon to have her in back to back episodes...little doses will be fine. Plus at least mention Catherine before you move on to the next girlfriend. I thought Danny was good(of course)-he had some great lines but I would have liked to see Kono and Chin say something to him, though. Hopefully future episodes will cover some of the more ongoing issues, like Catherine.....

Still no mention of Catherine. That last scene of Steve and Ellie fishing should have been Steve and Danno sharing beers in Steve's backyard. No one expressing their condolences to Danno was weird. That said, the opening scene with Steve and Danno was nice. Hope we don't see Jerry again for the rest of the season except in extremely small doses. They had Toast, and Kamekona, and his cousin Flippa for informants and comic relief. Now the cast is getting too big and Jerry is just too over the top. Grover did have good lines in this ep. Danno should have had more of a reaction to the barrel full of money---can't believe they did that so soon after the ep with Matty in a barrel. No continuity between episodes....doesn't the writing staff know what comes before in the story line?? I enjoyed this episode more than I thought I would...the previews didn't look so good. Just hope Halloween doesn't completely tank our ratings........

So far I am agreeing with everyone's assessment. Too many characters... definitely too much Jerry... new ones need to be kept in much smaller doses... more condolences for Danny would be fitting and realistic... another barrel was in poor taste... the episode that introduced Ellie was good because it gave a lot of background, but now she's his fishing buddy who's staying for dinner?
More comments later.

I do not mind that there was a lot of Jerry, in this episode had to be a lot of Jerry, because it's his thread. In 5x02, 5x04 and 5x05 was his pretty little. In subsequent episodes, for sure it will be less than 5x01, 5x03 and 5x06. And very glad that we had this thread for a few episodes, like in Hawaii as the episodes do not focus only on the case of the episode. And Danny certainly will have more scenes with other team members in subsequent episodes.

I am agreeing with every one about Jerry who is over done not needed every episode. Jerry should be like Max. Still waiting for Steve to mention Cath. I thought we would have Steve trying to contact cath and not able to or just talking to Danny about it and worrying about her. They don't need to take up much screen time maybe a couple of line in one or two of the episodes. This should have happened before he meets Elle.

Would have liked a bit more with Max and Halloween - the last several seasons his quirkiness was a bigger part of the Halloween episode - clearly reduced this episode with bringing in the other regulars. Also, can't remember if Grace was a part of every Halloween episode somehow but I know she was in several of them, would have been nice to have at least a comment about her being too old to trick-or-treat, or she's going to a party - storyline and character continuity over the entire life of the show is nice.
Was a bit surprised/not expecting the extensive fishing scene with Ellie at the end - I don't dislike the character yet but it does feel too soon after Cath.
While I do like all of the new regular characters that have been introduced, it does now feel like too many - I don't like the reduced screen time for the original regulars that were established in S1 & S2 - crowded is a good adjective - bring the newer ones in in small doses periodically instead of trying to include many in just one episode.

Overall liked the episode. Now that we are done with the fake money and Jerry storyline can we move on? But I am a fan of Jorge so I like seeing him. Like Ellie, the lawyer - made sense to contact her. Liked the scene with Steve, Danny, Jerry and her when she asked "What did you do Steve?" Don't like Ellie the fishing buddy. No mention of Cath. Looked like the writers are setting Steve and Ellie up to fall in love. Just pals, Lenkov? Doesn't look like it. Steve and Cath are a couple - too late to change that at this point, in my opinion.

Aaaargh, missed commenting on last week's episode due to personal stuff, and this week I missed watching because of people coming over. I did like last week's episode, Ellie is a nice fit, and although I was surprised to see her back right away, I like how she fits in with Steve. Which is not to say I want to see a romance between then. Maye because I'm older, but I just don't have to ship a man and a woman together as soon as I see them share screen time. So please no Stellie. Did chuckle at the fact that Steve wasted no time calling in favours from her. Anyhow, this episode. Not as hair-raising as the crazy homicidal dysfunctional family headed by Lee Merriwether episode (now THAT was a Halloween episode!), but still not bad. Those yecky corpses missing body parts were pretty gruesome. The storyline did have a nice twist at the end with the entitlement-issues son, wasn't expecting that. The rest of it was pretty routine horror movie revenge stuff, but still pretty good. Someone mentioned no Grace, yes I think she's been in every Halloween episode so far, I was looking forward to the costume and what Danno might be handing out - remember the episode when Danno was living in the hotel? Jerry, Jerry, Jerry. Yes he has been pretty prominent, but as someone pointed out, it was his story. I do like him so I don't mind him much, but I can see why people who don't love him are irritated with him getting so much screen time. I've been saying that Hawaii is a very crowded place since S2. There are a lot of great characters that you want to see more of, and they just don't visit enough. Anyone remember that chap Wo Fat? Where's he been lately? Sang Min, Kawaika, definitely Toast.... but we keep getting more new regulars instead. Must say I don't really mind seeing everyone work with everyone else for a while. I like seeing how they interact with each other and how they work together, no matter who they are paired up with. As long as we do have them all together now and then to bring the family together. Grover is growing on me more, I don't resent him being 5-0 so much. He's getting some good lines, he's working well with everyone, I won't grumble so much about him any more, although I still maintain there was absolutely no need for him, since the Core Four don't need no more. Jerry's storyline was good for me. I was totally confused by it and couldn't make heads or tails of it, so good work, writers. Good to see Steve do a bit of SEAL stuff there at the end, although we haven't had any fun crazy Steve stuff in a while. Always nice to see just how loyal Steve is to his friends, to the point of risking his career for them. Runner, the barrel thing, exactly what I said when I saw them. There have to be other container choices. So all in all, yeah, another good episode for me. That makes it 6 for 6 for me.

* I don't know why but I'm growing tired of writing in-depth reviews and were only 6 episodes in the season so I'm going to be quick. Let's focus on Jerry first. We open to Farrow's house where he has Jerry tied up with Farrow's associate Helms(Who earlier identified as Bowser in the credit in the earlier episodes) tied up and beaten next to him. For unknown reasons Farrow is wearing an apron and gloves. Was this to scare Jerry into thinking he is going to dismember him. Since it's Halloween and their kids out and it's sure a bad time to tie Jerry and Helms but he handle it well. He seamlessly shoots Helms dead. after threating Jerry for information, he drags the not-really-dead Helms out of the room. Not only he's good with books but he must be a special effect and a makeup guy. * After Farrow released him, he was found by the HPD. Jerry won't talk to anyone but the Hawaii Five-O. So after a small talk with Danno and Steve Jerry and they went to his house and discovered that Farrow has taken everything from his basement, his files, his recordings and his computer. Despite this he manage to get the swing of this investigating for the rest of the show. At the end he has a netbook, where does he get it? And how did Farrow and Helms get all the time to remove the junk from his basement and destroy it? * Unusually McGarrett attempt to get a warrant to search from his pal Ellie, remember her? This was because of illegal investigation of Jerry but this flops due to lack of reliable information so in a usual move McGarrett and a protesting Danno (Danno, has your protesting ever worked in four years?) to storm Farrow's place. They found nothing so McGarrett threats Farrow, nothing happens. This too totally flops as so later attempt on him due to lack of evidence. Also Farrow was known to denote money to judges on the Hawaiian islands and paid the Governor's campaign despite only been on the islands for 2 years * When Five-0 stops Farrow from leaving the country with his store all boxed up for shipment on a cargo plane, they once again uncover no connection to the funny money. Farrow protests he is being harassed, but McGarrett says they are holding him for failure to fill out "Form 7501," which authorizes the exportation of commercial goods. This is a Homeland Security document, but it is for the importation of commercial goods * Farrow is later discovered to be a British operative name Major William Corrigan whose identity is uncovered by Five-O. He is bitter about the fact that he is to be court-martialed for killing a family of Iraqis including a woman and children. McGarrett, despite killing so many people in the past gets all moralistic on him. is this a new character development on McGarrett? Jerry get's information on Helms who the Five-O determined to be alive that he is actually to be alive was Lt. Colin Helms who has ties with the radical IRA splinter group. the counterfeit money is destined to this group because Farrow feels betrayed by his government. According to Jerry, Farrow arrives in Hawaii in 2012 but his driver license was issued in 2008. Danno pointed out that the IRA died out with the Duran Duran band but the Duran Duran band is not Irish but English band. However, the IRA really ended in 1969, then became a Provisional IRA. it came under cease-fire 1997 and really ended in 2005 * Jerry says that the freighter boat is anchored four miles off shore, but the "freighter" looks more like a large tug boat destined to Belfast. As Danno and McGarrett were coming down from the helicopter, Helms and his man just waits for them to come down rather then shoot at them as they were coming down. And if I was Danno, I would not touch the drum, fearing I might find the body of my dead brother in there. But Danno manage to touch it and open it without any problem. *As for the crime of the week, Aaron, Sam Cole's son is killing his dad's bullies, he blames his dad for being weak and poor so he would chop off a tounge of one victim and a eye of the second victim and kills them both. The HPD somehow knew Weiss phone number but was too late, Aaron slash his back, ties him up and chops off his ear. He survives but subject that Sam Cole was responsible but when Kono, Chin and Grover arrives at his house they found out it was his son. Aaron was labeled as a serial killer but he only kills two people, Weiss and Sam were still alive * The next episode looks good

* I don't know why but I'm growing tired of writing in-depth reviews and were only 6 episodes in the season so I'm going to be quick. Not trying to be snarky ... just offering a suggestion if you're really growing tired of writing full reviews. We've all seen the episode so we don't need the review if you'd rather not write it. You could just tell us what you didn't like or did like and maybe some of the errors you noted ... like McGarrett quoting the wrong form number, except I think he was just pulling a number from memory of any form he could think of. The way the line was delivered, I thought it was sort of suggesting that he was just saying anything to stop Farrow. Impressive, though, that you know what the form he quoted is actually for!

If I just say "I don't like it" in almost every episode I post then people are going to think I'm being negetive so I have to write in reviews. Of course, if all you say is "I don't like it" we're just going to think you're being negative. Without details that's exactly what it sounds like. But if you tell us why you don't like something instead of just "I don't like it because I don't like" the explanation will be respected. Other people point out things they didn't like without saying only "I don't like it." They tell us what they didn't like and often why they didn't like it. But, truthfully, you have to admit that there are some things you like about some of the episodes because even when you write a review and sound like you didn't like it, you then have said at the end that it was an okay episode. So there must be something you like that you can also tell us about. Why not try it on the next episode ... make a list of what you didn't like and a list of what you did like. Figure out why you did or didn't like something and tell us about it. It probably would be easier than trying to just tell us what we all saw because you don't even have to get it in order or remember all the details. You'd only be telling us about the things that jumped out at you as good or bad. Hey, it's only a suggestion because you sounded like you were tired of just writing a review. Do you really want to do that for another twenty episodes?
