In the party scene at the end-I liked how Danny had a framed map of New Jersey on the wall. He loves his NJ! Also----I enjoyed Kono and Danny working together --they have good on screen chemistry.

I liked this episode. It would have been better if there had been a little more Steve. This was when Alex took a break end of September beginning of October and was in Japan So what? There's other people on this show too.

There's other people on this show too. Kee may not think it's a big deal but thank you, Rita, for pointing that out. I have to admit that I did wonder why Steve wasn't one of those who got off the helicopter on the Big Island. I remember the pics, now, of him in Japan so that could explain it. Even being a Danny fan first and a Steve / Danny bromance fan second, it still struck me as odd that the acknowledged "star" of the show got so little air time.

So because he was not on screen in every scene the episode was not that good? Yeah I know he's the star of the show but the other people on the show are not a bunch of slugs. They can act too and they do a pretty good job of it. I thought it was a good episode with or without McGarrett in every scene. I'm sure the only people who are upset about this are the Alex fans who only watch this show because of him and could care less what the show is about.

Just finished watching the episode....
*Definitely not the S1 Steve that would have never insulted the island by illegally cutting down a tree from a protected area.
*Definitely not the S1 Danny that demanded a real tree.
*Tree strapped to top of Camaro... ouch to the paint job, and strapped the wrong direction to break the branches. Real-tree-Danno would have known that.
*So Danny is suddenly worried about being 'an accomplice to a crime' after previously murdering his brother's killer?
*I'm with Danno on the topic of rodeos... I don't really see the appeal, either. But that's just me.
*Nice ropin' by Kono.
*Max swearing? That just seems wrong to his character.
*No more Santa-Danno. But a good pep talk from Kono, and she's right, Grace has to grow up some time.
*The whole thing with Pua Kai was just kinda... weird. Except at the very end. Glad he gave Danny the citation, but held off on taking the tree back. Hopefully Danny learned a less,... and will get Steve to pay for half the citation.
*Was glad to see the man who was about to shoot a horse get shot himself. Bad, bad boy!
*Beautiful horse. Nice touch having Urban run to his owner.
*The Star Trek scene at the helicopter was.. well,... mixed. Started off cute, ended dumb.
*Kamekona can't sing. Although, neither can I, so not throwing any stones here. But if you're gonna sing a song, sing it right. They took out the entire middle of the verse that dealt with the real meaning of Christmas. That was just so very, very wrong!

I'm sure the only people who are upset about this are the Alex fans who only watch this show because of him and could care less what the show is about. You really should go back and read the comment you're misquoting! She said, "I liked this episode. It would have been better if there had been a little more Steve." There is nothing in there that says it wasn't good. There's nothing that says the other actors are a bunch of slugs. There is nothing wrong with wanting to see more of someone if you enjoy that particular actor. And misquoting her for that "crime" alone is just wrong! Personally, I never would have watched the 5-0 reboot at all if it hadn't been for Scott Caan. I only gave it a try because I'd heard that he was playing Danny and I've been a fan of his for quite some time. I'd never even heard of Alex ... so I watched because of Scott and ended up enjoying the show enough to keep watching. But I still miss Danny when there's an episode without him and, yes, I'd prefer to see more of him. But that doesn't mean that I'm saying an episode isn't good because he's not in it or that the other actors are a bunch of slugs, either. As for this episode, I didn't really think it was a good episode. I would normally watch an episode at least three times by now ... but I watched this once AND fast-forwarded through the scene with Max and the Star Trek action figure. I know some people thought the Max storyline was funny ... but I thought it was ALMOST the worst part of the episode. What was the worst part to me? The Christmas tree storyline and Pua Kai going after Steve and Danny. First ... NO, Steve would not have cut down the tree. That just wouldn't have happened with the Steve we know over five seasons. And Pua is acting very pompous ... maybe they think he's supposed to be comic relief but to me he's just annoying. I liked the crime within a crime of the horse being stolen and hidden away ... but all logical thought has to be tossed out the window on that one. Who would pay stud fees for a horse that, apparently, has never raced because certainly they couldn't have told people who the horse was or someone would have turned them in for a reward long before this. Personally, I'd rather have a monster big reward (because, of course, there would have been one) than the possibility that I MIGHT own a winning racehorse in a few years ... a horse whose lineage would have to be faked because ... well ... how could you tell the truth? Still, the horse was beautiful and the scene with the horse and the trainer was well played, especially by the horse! Anyway ... my point is that there's nothing wrong with liking (or not liking) an episode for any number of reasons ... but she never said it wasn't a good episode. In fact, she said she liked it.

Regardless of who does or doesn't like any episode.... this is a discussion board where we are meant to openly discuss our opinions on every episode.
So, let's do just that; discuss, share, comment, etc. While it's obviously okay to not agree with someone else's opinion, it is not okay to criticizing.

Your answer was a lot more succinct than mine! I was actually trying to make the point that there was nothing wrong with liking a particular actor and wishing he'd been in the episode more. And there was no need to criticize someone for stating that they'd have liked that.

I am not a blind follower of Alex O'Loughlin and my sun does not rise and set over him. I'm just a fan of his and am someone who appreciates his incredible talents as an actor and from what I have gathered from him off-screen he seems to be an extremely nice and friendly human being. That's as far as I go with him and I am entirely capable of getting through an episode of Five-O without seeing him every ten seconds. What were you people doing during season two when he had to miss some time due to his addiction to pain killers? You probably had to be locked in a rubber room or something.

We were respecting the fact that he acknowledged the problem and did something about it. You're still missing the point that the original post you attacked said she liked the episode. The observation about missing Alex did not change that. No one said they couldn't get through an episode without seeing him every ten seconds. No one said they thought the other actors were slugs. Those words came from YOU! You took an innocent observation and inferred all sorts of negative things about it. It's really too bad you can't just tell us what you did or didn't like about an episode without attacking someone for the comments they make.

I hope that for all concerned that the next episode of Five-O has Alex in every scene so everyone will be happy. Here's some possible scenarios. ...Danny and Grover are having a conversation. McGarrett stands in the background for no apparent reason. ...Kono is talking on the phone. McGarrett is tying his shoe in the background. ...Chin Ho is operating the Five-O computer at their office. McGarrett is playing solitaire on his tablet in the background. ...Kamekona and cousin Flippa are at the movies. McGarrett is a few rows back having popcorn. ...Jerry is having lunch at an outside cafe. McGarrett is seen in the background walking by and buying a newspaper.

Why are you being so cynical about this? And why do you continue to insist that ANYONE has said that they want Alex in every scene? It's obvious that nothing anyone says will change what you've chosen to infer from the observation that they wished Alex was in more of the episode. It was unusual that Steve wasn't leading the investigation. I'm sorry that you don't seem to have the ability to simply discuss the episodes with us; you'd probably have a much better time if you actually knew how to do that. I promise that this is my last response to you because, seriously, I'm not sure if you're that oblivious or that deliberate ... and I've decided that I no longer care.

Because I am a fan of the show and I am someone who is able to go for long stretches of time without seeing his face. I watch the show because it's Five-O and it's exciting and it makes me want to come back week after week. I'm a fan of the show because of everyone in it and not just one person. And am I supposed to feel deprived and left out because some anonymous person on the internet does not want to respond to me anymore? That's just going to ruin my entire holiday season. I am very willing to talk about the show with you because I can tell you are a knowledgeable fan of it but I must apologize if my lack of patience shows with people who are only Alex fans and nothing else. This show is so much more then just about him. He's a huge part but there is so much more that makes Five-O great. That is what I have been meaning to say.

So I'm being accused of only liking Alex...the other actors don't matter.
I watch it for the story and ALL the actors contribute to the telling of the story. So what if I wanted to see a little bit more of Steve in the episode. It was my opinion. If I want to talk about Alex I go to the fan sites for him. If you haven't seen the subject of the discussion it says episode 5.09. Really I don't care any more

Although I must admit I may have jumped the gun with you just a little bit Rita162. I am used to dealing with Alex fans who are only concerned about what shirt he was wearing, how he looked when he was talking to Catherine and what he said. You know, important stuff like that. These same people had no idea what was going on in the show. It got to be more than frustrating after awhile.
