...what did you think was going to happen? Did you think Reyes was really letting them leave? Or did you think it was understood by his men that they were expected to kill Steve and Danny? I'm not really trying to start a dialogue about the whole episode (hence the reason I'm posting it here). I'm just looking for your opinion of what would have happened in that one scene if Steve and Danny hadn't overpowered/surprised the guards before they could either let them go or kill them. Or maybe do you think Steve and Danny thought they were being allowed to leave and then realized the guards weren't going to let them so only then did they fight back? Or something else entirely? And if you think Steve and Danny were the ones to 'start things' do you think they did it specifically so Danny could go back and kill Reyes?

I am not sure what I was expecting. When Steve and Danny came back down I thought Danny was going to arrest Reyes and when he killed him you could see the shock on Steve face.

For me, I took it that Danny and Steve started the fight so they could come back inside, but I wasn't expecting Danny to kill Reyes. I don't know what I was expecting to occur at that moment, yet the killing was a very likely/probable outcome. I took the look on Steve's face to be the shock of an action that was out of character for Danny (we've never seen him cross that extreme line before, he usually restrains himself), but learning your brother was butchered into a barrel would do that/be a temptation for just about anyone.

The look on Steve's face was one of complete shock. It seems to me that as H50 moves into season 5, Steve has become more like Danny and Danny has become more like Steve. Danny pulled out his gun without hesitation or conversation and executed Reyes. In my opinion, Reyes received exactly what was due him. Yet, that action was not compatible with who Danny is as a person. It is more like Steve's character. Steve has become more tender and loving as a person. We see that tenderness with Grace. Steve reaches out and hugs Kono after Danny and Chin are kidnapped because he senses Kono's despair. Steve shows compassion to Jerry by allowing him live at his home for a couple of weeks. We know that Steve likes to live alone. Steve has continually forgiven Joe for lying to him. We are seeing a much softer side to Steve and a much tougher side to Danny. I guess that can what happen when you really know and love someone.
