We had company stop by, so now I don't get to watch until tomorrow. Bummer. But I had also asked myself about Adam's non-appearance as soon as I saw that Dale was not on the cast list.

Grace Park was wonderful in this episode! She is so talented as an actress. Bravo to the writers for weaving Kono's childhood memories with her survival adventure in the Pacific Ocean. This back story for Kono was very well written.
At this point in the season, it feels like Steve and Danny are strangers. I am missing their chemistry in every episode. The lack of bromance makes me sad. They don't even smile or laugh much anymore.
Bravo to Peter Lenkov for the Hawaiian proverbs and the written translations... such a beautiful way to open each scene. I learned so much about the Hawaiian culture in one single episode. It is definitely worth a second and third viewing with On Demand.
And by the way, where was Adam?

Great episode and Grace was great
Loved both stories they were both about families one good one bad.
Loved the whole team on the beach to see Kono off Loved when Steve requested permission to come on board and Kone granted the commander permission I am glad we got to learning more about Hawaiian Culture and History Loved Miya Cech who played young Kono and all the flasbacks with Kono mother. Loved how Chin was so concerned about his cousin. Daniel and Grace have great chemistry together.
The crime of the week
Wow Alex/Steve is looking so hot and sexy Loved Steve and Chin working together we need more of this. Sad that The son was not very nice to his father.

Super episode. It was great to have an episode showcasing Grace's talent. Her character has always been a bit underused (IMO) They did a wonderful job with her backstory and culture.
Was the scene with her in uniform during her training period? She was never a uniform cop?
Watching last night reminded me of why I like this show so much and will really miss it when it's gone. Let's hope for another year!

Loved this episode from beginning to end. Took me a little by surprise it was the son who was the criminal. Alex and DDK should work more together. When they do it's better than Alex and Chi. I don't bother now with Alex and Scott as that rarely happens.
Grace was amazing. Loved her back story. Really liked the beginning when Steve stepped aboard. I know it would not happen from the beginning but always thought Kono and Steve had the perfect chemistry. Those feelings were rekindled in this episode. Definitely a watch again episode.
I too must add Alex/Steve is looking hot and sexy. Anyone seen the pic from last Wednesday in L A? Sorry just got distracted there for a moment. Going to watch again.

Loved it! A little early for Mother's Day, but the Kono/Mom story was perfect timing. The Good: - Kono always rocks, but this was exceptional. - The survival skills were not fiction...even the guys on Dual Survivor might be impressed. Matt would've been able to start a fire on that surf board...but only Matt. - Good choice having uncooked rice in her survival bag on the trip. I have used this trick myself with my phone to absorb moisture after unfortunate accidents involving water. - The flashbacks to the Kgirl and Kmom were perfect choices...so beautiful and well done. - Amazing how Grace can still play a young girl/woman by putting a clip in her hair and wearing a school uniform! - We are never too old to cry out for Mom. My favorite scene. - When the Coast Guard said they could not fly in the weather and Steve said that he could...I stood up to cheer because I thought for sure we were going to get a SuperHero scene. Steve would reach out with those arms and scoop her out of the sea...sigh. Interestingly enough, I actually loved how it played out. Kono saved herself...SuperShero. - Chin was fabulous...his love for Kono, partnering with Steve, etc. etc. etc. The Bad/Ugly: - Not enough Danny. So sad that we see him less and less. - Adam nowhere to be found. Kono - run, girl, run. B-lana I think most of us expected Steve to come to the rescue, but it was so awesome to see her save herself. in many ways, the show has really found itself again in season 5.

Kono tour de force and she was amazing, but as always, I still miss the Core 4 when they're not all together and here, since it was Kono-centric, the rest of 5-0 was negligible. The quick crime of the week still managed to be good, the kid had me fooled and I liked him. Danno not being in the team that took down Makai - not a good sign. I guess the writing is definitely on the wall, that we can expect no Danno next season. At the Coast Guard HQ, it didn't even look like he was even filmed in the scene with them - just the back of his head once, and then his one little line, with only him in view. What I did like was the solidarity when everyone came to the beach to see Kono off. Little Kono and Kono mom were both gorgeous. Nice to see the backstory. Agree that it was better to have Kono save herself, rather than be rescued by the guys. Didn't know Hawaiian weather was as changeable as Canadian weather - of course we get a wider scope. Looks like everyone learned Chin's rice & cellphone trick. Or did he learn it from Kono's mom?
