Awesome premiere. A lot of action, great bromance between Steve and Danny, return one of the best villains in the show, and amazing debut of Tani. I just love Tani, and this is just her first episode. She is badass, funny, pretty, I love her chemistry with Steve and Danny. Especially her scene with Danny was amazing. I can't wait for more scenes with her. Action in episode was amazing, fire scenes, fight scenes, and other scenes. After the arrival of Eric Noris at the end of season 7 as the successor Jeff Cadiente, the fight became longer and we got them more often. This I missed in recent seasons, besides a few exceptions.
Duclair was great as always, and he died as he wanted in the fire. I think it was good decision to kill him because he running away again from the prison or Five-0 would be predictable. It was cool to see Taylor, Denis and Kimme in opening theme. I like how to explain the absence of Chin and Kono. We do not do that they left, the series is still doing amazingly. Maybe one day they will back to the show.

I enjoyed this episode. Good start to season 8. Tani was very good. Thought she fitted in really well. Did not miss Kono or DDK as I had already set my mind they were no longer there. The show needs some fresh blood.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I didn't like it. Yes there was a lot of action, but not much story. I have never expected realism from the show, but the helicopter/cabin scene was like something out of a children's book. I'll give Tani a chance, but my first impression is a poorly written action figure. I've watched from S1E1 and have never been this negative about the show. Hopefully next week will turn me around.

I really liked the character of Tani. I seriously was not sure about her because I didn't know her from anything else she'd been in. I was worried they were just going to try to make her a Kono clone. Not a clone at all! And I did love the almost immediate chemistry between her and Steve and Danny. I was kind of glad that they closed the Duclair storyline ... there are only so many times you can get away with a guy escaping from prison and either burning people or places until they catch up with him. The fire special effects were pretty amazing; I really could believe it was massive. Pulling the house off its foundation was pretty cheesy; seriously, just have them grab hold of the straps and hold on. That would have been more dramatic, IMO. It kinda reminded me of Wo Fat's escape when they picked up the transport he was riding in and carried it out into the ocean. But, you know, go big or go home! I actually enjoyed the episode quite a bit and am looking forward to seeing Tani as more of an official member of the team. Hoping Junior Reigns introduction in a few weeks goes as well.

Finally watched the ep...was good.
The rescue was a little over the top--but, that's PL for you.
I like Tani so far...I am glad they explained where Chin and Kono were. Did not feel weird that they were not in the episode, but that could change over time.
I had no idea Oahu could burn like that--that fire got awfully big, awfully fast.
I liked the silvery gray in Steve's scruffy chin.

So I finally got around to watching the S8 premier of HF-0. Agree that the episode wasn't bad. I also liked the character of Tani, even though I didn't think I would. Still not happy that GP and DDK won't be around till the end of this show, but at least they didn't make Tani a 'replacement' by having her too much like Kono.
Tani showing up in certain places needed better explanation, for sure! It just seemed like an excuse was needed to get her on-site. That part just wasn't done well, but that's the fault of the writers.
Was glad at Danny being toned down a notch, he really got on my nerves by the end of last season. He and Steve had a bit of banter in this episode, but not to the point of Danny being annoying, which is what happened last season. The restaurant thing could make for a good back-story for those two.
As for the flying cabin --- there are no words to explain how lame that was.

As for the flying cabin --- there are no words to explain how lame that was. “Toto...I have a feeling we are not in Kansas anymore” Yep, my brain immediately went to Dorothy's house swirling in the tornado, expected to see the cow and the Wicked Witch flying by!
