First episode of Magnum P.I you will see Noelano make a gust appearance from Five 0 Second episode of Magnum you will see Kamekona make a guest appearance filming at Steve and Danny's Restaurant. Later in the season we will get a proper cross over between Five 0 and Magnum P.I

In terms of potential crossover possibilities, this has to be right up there with peanut butter and jelly. Or in this case, spam and rice.

CBS' Hawaii-set reboots Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum P.I., which is joining the CBS fam this fall, will do some sort of crossover in the future, according to the creator of both shows, Peter Lenkov. Steve McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) and Magnum (Jay Hernandez) will eventually meet up due to a shared past.


During today's Comic-Con panel for Magnum P.I., Lenkov said, "The plan is to ultimately introduce those two characters, have them in a crossover episode, and at least have them know of each other. That's the fun of the fact they are both ex-Navy Seals," according to Entertainment Weekly.

But the two shows will collide even sooner than expected. Hawaii Five-0's medical examiner will appear in the pilot of Magnum P.I., which is something Lenkov intentionally planned out. He said he wants viewers to understand that the two shows exist in the same universe before doing a full-on crossover episode.

The real crossover is getting closer. In addition, we learned that in the season 2 of Magnum P.I. we see again Kamekona, Duke, and Noelani. And for the first timee we'll see Flippa, Private Investigator Harry Brown (William Forsythe), and Nicky "The Kid" DeMarco (Larry Manetti).

Though a full-on crossover between CBS’ Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum P.I. did not come to fruition during the latter’s freshman run, Peter M. Lenkov — the showrunner for both of the Aloha State-based procedurals — told TVLine as part of our Fall Preview Q&A that he is resolved to making it happen this TV season, and “sooner rather than later.”

When last we spoke, Lenkov said that the writers rooms had just begun bandying about ideas. Now, weeks later, the prolific producer has passed along this update: “We have narrowed down a story.”

Lenkov’s Five-0 reboot previously has crossed over with CBS’ NCIS: Los Angeles (not a show he runs) and, more recently, his own MacGyver reboot (in a singular March 2017 episode that saw Chin and Kono giving Mac & Co. an assist). Now, if Lenkov has his druthers, a two-part crossover between Five-0 (entering Season 10) and Magnum — airing back-to-back on Fridays this fall, with MacGyver on hold for midseason—will take place.

But until then, watch for some micro-crossovers. For example, Five-0‘s Kamekona (played by Taylor Willy), Duke (Dennis Chun) and Noelani (Kimee Balmilero) are all set to pay additional visits to Magnum, as they did last season. New to the crossover mix, meanwhile, are Five-0‘s Shawn Mokuahi Garnett (whose Flippa will make his Magnum debut) and guest star William Forsythe, who will reprise his Five-0 role of P.I. Harry Brown in an early November episode of the sophomore drama.

CBS’ Magnum P.I. reboot and a star of the original series are set to make beautiful music together, as seen in these exclusive photos from Season 2.

TVLine can exclusively report that Larry Manetti, who played Orville “Rick” Wright on the original, Tom Selleck-led procedural, will guest-star on the reboot in en episode slated to air Friday, Oct. 4 at 9/8c.

What’s more, Manetti will reprise his Hawaii Five-0 guest-starring role of Nicky “The Kid” DeMarco, who assists Rick in opening his new club LaMariana, which is poised to become Oahu’s coolest tiki bar.

“From the moment I met Larry, he gave me his blessing to give my spin on Rick. We were in love before the end of our first cigar together,” Zach Knighton, who plays Rick on the new series, tells TVLine. “I’m so honored and excited that he decided to join us on Magnum — and had to pinch myself when I was watching him perform again behind that piano. People are gonna love to see him back on TV.”

Manetti says, “It was such a thrill to be a part of the new Magnum P.I.,” adding: “Playing Rick in the original series was one of my greatest honors. It was such a privilege working with the whole cast, who were as warm and kind as they are tremendously talented.”

New interview with Peter about potential crossover. The first episode in the New Year for a potential crossover is a good date. That would also mean that in November they would have to start filming it at the latest, unless they would filming out of order again.


There’s a rumor of a possible crossover with Magnum P.I. this season. Some of the characters, like Noelani (Kimee Balmilero) have appeared on both, but is this going to be a bigger story than that?

That’s what we’re planning. We’re trying to make it happen. This will be more of a bona fide crossover, like real legit crossover. In terms of the crossover, we just started talking about it, so there’s not much to give. I definitely think that the main cast are going to crossover, at least that’s what we’re hoping, but in terms of the story, we just started talking about it, so I don’t want to give something and then it changes, because it’s still in the infancy stage. We’re planning to air it probably the first episode back in January.

TV Line confirmed that Januray 3 will be a real crossover with Magnum P.I. First in episode Hawaii Five (I think 10.12), and then in episode of Magnum P.I. (I think episode 2.12).

The time has come for McGarrett and Magnum to say aloha to each other.

TVLine has learned that a full-on crossover between CBS’ Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum P.I. is officially happening, on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020 in back-to-back episodes.

In fact, showrunner Peter M. Lenkov tells us that the Magnum half of the crossover has already completed filming, and the Five-0 half is nearly done.

Though this merging of the Aloha State-based procedurals did not come to fruition during Magnum‘s freshman run, as initially hoped, Lenkov had told TVLine over the summer that he was resolved to making it happen this TV season. Weeks later, he updated us, “We have narrowed down a story.”

That story will find “our Five-0 guys kicking down doors” to track down a POI at a hotel — unaware that private eyes Thomas Magnum and Juliet Higgins are surveilling the same room. “In a way, Higgins and Magnum become witnesses that Five-0 needs to help them,” says Lenkov. “And our two worlds collide!”

Specifically, Magnum, Higgins, TC and Rick (played by Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks, Stephen Hill and Zachary Knighton) will appear in that Friday’s Five-0 episode alongside McGarrett & Co., after which Five-0‘s Junior, Tani and Quinn (played by Beulah Koale , Meaghan Rath and Katrina Law) will continue on to Magnum P.I.

“It’s a big-stakes story that really feels like a two-hour movie,” says Lenkov. And while the series’ showrunner feared he would have a hard time convincing Magnum‘s much smaller cast that the “double-ups” (filming two episodes at once) were worth it, “That was not an issue at all.”

The awaited crossover comes in the nick of time, seeing as Lenkov’s MacGyver reboot will rejoin CBS’ Friday slate on Feb. 7, forcing Magnum to hit pause on its sophomore season.
