I just watched this episode last night..They must have known by the time they filmed it that the show was over....the ending was great but so sad! Loved the bromance and super Seal Mcgarrett. The COTW was really just a backdrop. I wonder if they reworked the script because initially it seemed Danno wasn't even included early on...I am simultaneously dreading the last episode and looking forward to it because I know it will be amazing...

They must have known by the time they filmed it that the show was over.... Unfortunately, probably not. Everything indicates that they did not know. And the last episodes created for the departure of Alex from the show. That's why this Lance Gross was to be introduced (probably to replace Steve), and Chuck Norris as his mentor. They will still be in the final and this Lance will have a big role. So if they changed something in the final it is tiny, which Lenkov wrote on Twitter that script practically did not change. It looks like CBS revealed this at the last moment, and earlier they wanted to do the show without McGarrett. That's why I'm afraid of the final. Because if they knew a lot earlier it probably looked different.
