And if Alex has allergies along with having asthma...he probably feels miserable half of the time... i am dealing with allergies right now, and they are kicking my butt....i can't imagine how it would be if i had asthma as well. Just a thought.

I sympathize, okie, we get do get the short end of the allergy stick down here. Nobody's said so, but I'm hoping that Hawaii is an allergy haven, it's got so many other great qualities.

Too many flowers, too much pollen.... so it would be bad for allergy sufferers, no? Or is it only if you're allergic to pollen? i was told I'm allergic to dust mites. Great. Name one place where there's no dust (my house ain't one of them). I feel for you too, oakie.

Actually, all the plants with the rainforest like atmosphere would be a killer for those like me that are allergic to plant mold.

Master plan to take Alex, Scott etc. into our domain and keep them as our drool slaves: 1) Need plane tickets for my fellow accomplices. 2) Build fully functional plastic bubble with appendages for grabbing.

Mold is a bad one for me too. I take allergy meds and asthma meds every morning. Recently there was a wildfire in Minnesota and the winds blew the smoke and smell over our state really bad for a day. There were air quality warnings. I stayed in the house for 2 days. UGH ...

Plastic Bubbles? How about we just take over NASA's ocean submersed laboratory that they use to prepare astronauts for long term deployments to the space station. I believe that it is located in the Pacific a few hundred yards under the surface. Full living quarters without any escape for our favorite boys? Anyone in???

Oh dear. I don't do water. Even going to Hawaii I'd need some major phobia support.

Don't worry about water phobias, you will have at least two chemists who can double as bartenders too.
Hoo ya, I'm game!

Hey, I'm in on the party too ;D
AOL should be OK in Hawaii, Yes, the high humidity is stressing, but the sea climate is helping him. Well, as long as he stays away from those cigarettes and keeps up his running regiment.
For all of you with dust mite allergies. Try make vacations in places over 4900 ft. Dust mites can't survive that high up, same with most pollen polluting plants. I'm riddled with allergies and allergic asthma myself. Dust mites, cats hairs, pollen, criss-crossin food incompabilities, I have them all.
Best vacation ever: Glacier trekking in the swiss and italian alpes at roughly 8000 ft. Was sleeping all week at 4000 ft and trekking higher up every day. Never breathed better!

I'm in too! Not a good flyer at all but it would be worth it if we had those two waiting at the end of the flight!

Actually when you have asthma, the high humidity is better for you, the sea climate can actually help constrict your airwaves, because salt is highly aggressive when breathed into your lung tract.
I really hate to contradict you, twassbrake, but I live at 7800 feet above sea level, and dust mites most certainly survive that high up, as do pollen polluting plants, add to the fact that the oxygen is thinner up here, and you have allergy sufferers, still. As a matter of fact, mountain communities have a higher per capita allergy sufferage than those closer to sea level. I have life threatening allergies, have spent a good amount of my life visiting Ear, Nose and Throat specialists.
For one, maybe the conversions are a little off, (generally glaciers are located at the 10,000 ft and above mark) and for another, you probably breathed better because you were on vacation, relaxing, and taking your mind off of it. It is actually a pretty hard core scientific point that one of the major cures for allergies is mind over matter.
