Having just went through this I know there are no words that will make it better, but maybe this poem that has brought me some comfort will bring you some too. The Rainbow Bridge Poem Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Diana, it's perfect that you posted that poem. It happens that Runner has also lost her beloved cat Sammy this past week. I'm no stranger to these losses, and my heart goes out to all of you. They are precious friends.

They are precious friends. Well, you know what they say about death, marriage and births. They come in three's, so hopefully this will be the last of the deaths for a very very very very long time.

Oh, Dfan, I am so sorry. I feel your pain. Literally. Cochise and Sammy can play together and keep each other company at the Rainbow Bridge.... Danno's Dani sent me that poem last week and it helped a lot. I had never lost a pet before, so only now realizing how much it impacts a person. Take some time for yourself and cry all you need to.

To df and runner I am truly sorry for your losses, Cochise & Sammy.....sending my condolences to you both.....You are both in my prayers & thoughts...
@runner all my life I have had pets in my house and they each brought me such joy & happiness but when I lost my dog(her name was Nitsa) a long time ago I couldn't handle any more pain so I told everyone that I wasn't getting another pet..... but last year someone decided that I needed a companion they took me to the pet store and I ended up falling in love with the fish so I decided to purchase some and they are still with me today. It does impact a person alot losing a pet for they are a part of the family....
Sending you both hugs.....
