Here are the ratings for last nights episode, I am not sure at this point if there will be a downward adjustment of Castle in the final numbers due a DWTS overrun or not yet.
CBS Hawaii Five-0 3.0(18-49 Demo) 9.95 (Million Viewers) ABC Castle 2.5(18-49 Demo) 11.27 (Million Viewers) NBC Rock Center with Brian Williams 1.0(18-49 Demo) 3.51 (Million Viewers)

Oh that's not good. People must've been turned off by what they saw in the past few episodes. Last night's episode was wonderful, so hopefully more people get back into it in next week.

Oh, but they still won the demo. Less people, but they still won the demo. *rolls eyes* And I'm sure H50's still doing good in those DVR numbers. Yup.

Also smart enough to not mess with the chemistry of their four core team members (Beckett, Castle, Ryan and Espisito) by trying to bring in a fifth member to the team. They also make good use of their recurring characters (The Captain - who oversees the precinct , Martha - Castle's Mom, Alexis - Castle's daughter, and Lanie - the medical examiner and Espistio's girlfriend) without them taking screen time away from their core 4. In addition, in the four seasons that Castle has been on they have only really had two really big name guest stars. One being Dana Delaney and the other being Adrian Pasdar. And in both cases they were brought on as part of a two parter so everyone got plenty of screen time but not only that they were very central to the storyline. In Dana Delaney's case she was an FBI agent helping them catch a serial killer and in Adrian Pasdar's case he played an Homeland Security Agent that had lost his wife on 9-11 and was helping them uncover a dirty bomb before it went off in NYC. And, finally while they have their overarching storyline of Beckett's Mom's murder, Lanie and Espistio's relationship,Ryan's engagement, the will they or won't they between Castle and Beckett and Castle's changing relationship with his teenage daughter, they don't try to throw them all at you at once in addition to the murder of the week storyline. They will bring one these storyline to the forefront for a couple of episode, then they back off and let one their other character storyline get highlighted then. So you really only have two storyline going on in any one episode. The murder of the week and then character storyline featuring one of the core four, so that there is plenty of time to tell a good tight murder story while still growing their characters at the same time. Plus, they are not afraid to have some of the character storyline blend into the murder of the week story, by say having Beckett and Castle discuss the latest drama in Alexis' life while walking up to a murder scene, or having Lanie wink at Espitito when they think no one at the crime scene is looking. So you get the feeling that these people are not only co-workers but friends because you actually get to see them talking to each as friends and caring about each other as family, you're not just suppose to assume that it happened. In a nut shell, everything H50 did right in the first season and is doing wrong this season, Castle has been doing right all along. I hope what I am trying to say makes sense, cause to honestly I am currently hopped up on cold medicine, so anything could come out.

Nathan Fillion is in fact heap cute. And funny. The show is good, it's just bad luck (for me anyway) that it's opposite H50. (And for both of them as well, really, there are surely others like me.) I was watching last season online sometimes but haven't this season.

Diana--all good points. In other words-if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Hoping we haven't permanently lost people from watching H 5-0.....

Actually it was the other way around. H50 became the competition for Castle.
