Are these ratings good or bad? I'm hoping it is a good thing....although I am not an expert at the ratings thing.

Well, we're back up to the 10 million mark. Now whether that's good or bad...depends on how you look at it I guess.

If you look at it as Less Lori, more core 4=higher rating then I would say it was good. But no matter, the pressure has to stay on.

Over last week's ratings it is a downright improvement. But over all, things are still slipping, the demographic is slipping downward, and the overall ratings are still sliding a bit.

Funny thing is, the episodes are getting better, so really the ratings shoud be improving. Wonder if those first episodes that did better in ratings, actually brought the whole thing down, since after watching that crap, fans don't want to see any more, so they're missing the better stuff.

There's quite a few that are just not tuning in, until they hear that Lori is gone. How can you miss her appearance? Their press releases have her as a series regular, the credits now have has a 'starring', there are just people who watch TV for entertainment, and as long as she is around, they are becoming less entertained, so they tune in to something that is of interest to them.
My mom tuned out, because she watches TV to relax, not sit there and flip the TV off.

I agree with you on this point...I think we lost fans in episodes 2, 3, and 4. So why would they come back? Even if it is better --they were so turned off by the bad writing and LG that it will a lot to get those fans back.

What it means is more people are watching via DVR, than they are live.
What I think is hilarious is the fact that terrysagirl copied this, and made it seem like it was her own, when it in fact proves all these idiots who are arguing that total viewers don't count, that it does count. Especially on DVR playback numbers.
Also please note that they don't show how much Castle went up as well, though Hawaii Five O did in fact win the slot after the DVR's were thrown in. Also saying that the show is doing better than the second half of season 1 is a lot of spin, because it is a known fact that H50's second half season numbers plunged like a turd in a toilet.
So to put it gently, yes, Hawaii Five O is doing decent in the ratings, if you add in the DVR numbers.
One of those outlets not reporting and updating is TV by the Numbers themselves, but hey, hypocracy is their game.
And guess what, the DVR numbers are not commonly counted, and are weighed differently. (check Nielsen themselves) they are not counted as significantly as the live numbers, hence the reason why many outlets just don't update it. Because you can go past the ads on DVR, the numbers are not significantly counted like live numbers where you have to suffer through the commercials. (Nina Tassler, 2007, Nielsen, present)
It's nice that the zealots are going to the end of the earth to try to find their silver lining, but there is still this something called reality and judgement that is going to stick its nose in.
Aloha Time Period Win HAWAII FIVE-0 overtook “Castle” in viewers with live plus 7-day playback lift after trailing in live plus same day ratings to win its Monday 10:00 PM time period, according to Nielsen live plus 7-day ratings and live same day ratings for the week of Oct.3-Oct. 9, the third week of the season. When live plus same day ratings were released for Monday, Oct. 3, HAWAII FIVE-0 handily beat “Castle” in adults 18-49 (3.2 vs. 2.5) but trailed the ABC drama in viewers (11.07m vs. 11.23m). With today’s release of live plus 7-day playback lift, HAWAII FIVE-0 gained +3.39 million viewers to move ahead of “Castle” (14.46m vs. 14.07m) while also gaining an additional +1.1 ratings points in adults 18-49 to increase its advantage in that key demographics (4.3 to 3.4). For the week ending Oct. 9, HAWAII FIVE-0 was once again a top playback performer ranking fourth in viewer lift among all broadcast programs. For the third consecutive week, CBS posted the largest absolute lift in viewers (+1.89m, +17%), adults 18-49 (+0.7, +24%) and adults 25-54 (+0.8, +21%).
