I may be dead wrong on this - so someone please correct me; but wasn't Jack Lord in his late 40's or early 50's in the original show? Or maybe he just seemed "old" to me! Hi, beadmeup, Jack lord was 46 when he started playing Steve McGarrett. He was born on December 30, 1920. Hawaii Five-O filmed its pilot in the spring of 1967. The first season began filming in the spring of 1968, when he was 47. When it finished production for good in December of 1979, it was a few weeks before his 59th birthday, making him 58 at that time. Certainly, being in your late forties and fifties is not old. He didn't seem old to me. He looked young for his age.

A bit older guy for me is not much older. Alex. But if I were to go for the non-NCIS, non-H50, older man deal: Adrian Paul. Does 10 months count as being older? I sure hope so because you know me... there is no one else... but Alex.

So all the episode of season 12 was filmed in 1979? Yes, they were filmed from the spring of 1979 to December of that year. That's the schedule they followed every year of production. When production wrapped, Variety magazine published a large message saying "Thank you" to the cast and crew for their work and in helping to improve Hawaii's economy.
