Old-style ep with the core four and a little bit of everything thrown in. Liked this one. Episode started with a bang. Good Rolling Stones music, although I'm not still not crazy about the whole Bambi Amber♥Danno storyline. Monkey watched The Notebook with her daddy. Why would she be scarred when it comes alive? I suck at math so give me a moment here. Danno's 10 years older than Amber, so that means he's about 30, making him a daddy when he was around 18 since Monkey's around 12. Must have been the youngest member ever of the police force, since he met Psycho and married her when he was already with the Jersey PD, before they had Monkey. Really don't care for Danno's piercing accessory. And, is it not a really bad idea to go moving around when you have potentially punctured innards? How the heck does Steve know nothing major got pierced? Living proof that Danno will pick an argument with anyone, anywhere, anytime. Love dark and dangerous Chin protecting his ohana. "I'm literally being held together by duct tape." Kono comes up with her own innovative interrogation technique. Effective, though. Dr. Steve's do-it-yourself psychoanalysis and rescue. Who needs equipment and rescue personnel when you have McGarrett-McGyver on your side? Really, if I get trapped in a bombed-out garage, I want SuperSEAL right there with me. Looks like Cath and Steve will make their sushi date after all. Group hugs all over the place. My favorite hands down was Monkey and Steve, though. Oh, that Steve entrance was grand. Didn't expect that to happen. But it looks like Cobb (sp?) isn't telling after all. The whole McMommy, Mama Williams and now Fat Mom thing .... yawn.

I agree Dannos Dani!
I liked the episode but I have to admit, I didn't feel the drama. We know our heroes will survive ;-0. I can't imagine it's a good thing to pull out the rebar, and how convenient there was peroxide in the closet but I then remember that this is TV, not real life. I really loved McGarrett in this episode. As stated above, he was MacGyver, the shrink, Mr. Positive, and at the end of the episode Mr. Super Seal(Lieutenant Super Seal?). As far as the Amber/Danny situation, my guess on the ages is that Grace is 12/13, Amber is 25, and Danno is 35....Not sure how old they are IRL.... Loved Chin, Kono, and even Grover. Wonder when Papa Wo Fat is going to show up.... I really like this show :-)

I think Danny is close in age to Steve--on the show he is 37 - if I'm doing my math right -- so that would make Amber 27. Give or take a year or so.
Wondering if there was some sort of relationship between Doris and Papa Wo Fat. I'm still trying to figure out the relationship between Doris and Wo Fat......hope we get an answer to that this season.
It was a good episode....but of course we knew they would survive. Wondering how the ratings will be---I saw exactly 2 promos for this episode, and those were in the hour before the episode aired. They heavily promote NCIS, NCIS-LA, and the Monday night line up--but, they don't seem to want to promote H50.
I liked that the whole team was working behind the scenes to get them out and figure out what happened. And Catherine was actually given stuff to do that didn't involve wearing low cut shirts and doing nothing.

Am I the only one who thought it was 'meh'? Not bad, but not good - so much story meant that the key relationship that Lenkov wanted to emphasize was almost shoved into the background.
What if they had gone with the meeting between Grace and Amber as the tease, then spent the first two acts undergound ONLY - the cell phone should have rung the end of the first act and we'd only have seen the topside efforts through Steve's phone? The end of the second act would be a shift in the rocks and all, and Steve and Danny would have reviewed the blueprints sent down through the phone, noted the only direct access up was the shaft and decided to try for it themselves, Steve retrieving the camera button. Suspense created - will there be a rescue there waiting or not? Could Danny manage to make it? End of the third act would be the rescue and THEN we get into what Kono and Chin were up to and all the CIA stuff after they see Danny off to the hospital
What's the old saying - show, don't tell? There was way too much telling in this, and there could have been a lot more of the old Steve and Danny dynamic. I found the cavegument almost bitter and way too mean for a usual one, even given that Danny was injured, and there could have been so much more understated relationship rebuilding. I'm not a slasher, myself, my affection for the Steve and Danny show was always about their brotherhood.
Just as if you're a slasher you're welcome to it, if you disagree with me you're welcome to. But it's bugged me ever since the show aired. I almost gave up on this episode since there was almost no perceptible suspense.
Maybe I'll sit down and write my version just to get it out of my head!!

I like scooter's idea, but don't know if it would have made much difference moving scenes around. We know our guys will get out. And yet, with the Game of Thrones trend going full speed ahead in almost any show you watch.... maybe we shouldn't be so complacent. This isn't TV from the old days anymore, where the only ones to die were the blue dresses and the red shirts.
Now that Danno's deep-rooted psychological problems have come to light, does this mean he and Steve can be roomies at the mental facility when Steve gets around to having his breakdown?

I really enjoyed the episode! Favorite parts were Chin's threat to kill prisoner if the boys die. I was glad to see Catherine have a more active role in the rescue rather than being sent somewhere to look up information. I love the friendship between Steve and Danny... to me that is the bedrock of the show. I am happy that Danny is finally happy. Let's see how long that lasts. I was hoping that Superseal would find a way out of the building because the rescue team wasn't working very efficiently. Finally, what is Steve going to do with an ex-CIA agent's dead body? Call into 5-0? HPD? CIA? The look on Steve's face was priceless. Very good episode and even better the 2nd time around.

Enjoyed the episode but could have done without Amber. Gabby made much more sense. Can't understand that Danny would leave Grace and just go off with Amber to Maui. Another stupid relationship the writers thought up. Good amt of Cath In tthis episode. Liked the hug at the end. Still can't understand why they are getting rid of her character. She could go back to the navy or work with the police. Writers and producer messing up a good thing. Liked Chin, Kono and Max. Don't understand this whole mystery with Doris. Now she killed Wo Fat's mom not his dad. Did she make a mistake or that was what she was really told to do? Does Wo Fat know his dad is alive? Story too convoluted. I don't think PL or the writers know the answer. Very frustrating!

Nice to see Danny and Amber Vitali progressing. Thought when she was up and dressing while Danno slept, she was up to no good, or sneaking out at least. Was awkward Gracie catching them. Nice of Rachel to just dump her off. She would normally come in and tell Danny. Later she does prove she loves him when she brought Grace to the scene. You could also tell Catherine loved Steve. I was surprised when her Microphone slid in the rubble didn't really "save the day". But the banging on pipes was a good idea. Danny got hurt pretty good. With the maybe busted rib, beam on leg and rebar in side. Will he be missing an episode?? When Chin and Kono went to question JC Dekker(Xzibit from Pimp My Ride) he looked like he still had concrete dust in his hair. Nice to see JC got to "talk" to Spider in L3.
Steve going to talk to ex CIA agent Edward Cobb, I knew something would happen. Not good that he blows up a bld. and kills Marcus Dekker and tried to take out a lot more. But am surprised he told Steve it was Lake Quan Fat(sp?) body, Wo Fats mother, in the unmarked grave. He then went for a hidden gun and Steve took him out. Was surprised there wasn't someone else, a sniper or someone there to help Cobb. I figured with the desk by the window he had a sniper watching too. Wonder if Steve found any other paperwork in that office??
No Duke this episode. If you check the video at about 40 minutes it says that the ex CIA Agent is Edward Cobb.

I thought the CIA agent Edward Cobb said that Doris did not kill Wo-Fat's mom. It was agent Cobb. Was he aiming for Wo-Fat's father and missed but hit the mother instead?

I thought the CIA agent Edward Cobb said that Doris did not kill Wo-Fat's mom. It was agent Cobb. Was he aiming for Wo-Fat's father and missed but hit the mother instead? I just went back and listened to it and what Cobb says is, “The op went bad. My agent on the ground disappeared leaving me to clean up her mess.” I took that to mean that Doris was trying to kill Wo Fat’s father but killed Le Quan Fat (sp? his mother) instead and then took off leaving Cobb to get rid of the body. I have to wonder, after hearing that, what Wo Fat really knows about that situation. He has to know that his mother is dead … otherwise what would he think of her sudden disappearance? But does he know that his father may be alive or does he believe that he’s dead? During the scene in which Steve took the blood sample from WF and WF told him that Doris came to see him to apologize for killing his father, I know that WF was being facetious. But was he being facetious because he thinks his father is dead and thought it sounded like a plausible answer? Or was he being facetious because he knows that Steve believes WF’s father is dead and he thought Steve might buy that answer? If WF knows that his mother, instead of his father, was killed by Doris that totally changes any ideas I might have had about why WF and Doris didn’t each try to kill the other when they had the chance.

katlyn, your questions have me re-thinking the conversations between Wo-Fat and Steve. I don't what to believe anymore. It is really confusing. Let's hope the writers answer some of these questions before season 5 ends.
