You need cross-stitch, let me know. I may even have the chart you lost. I'd LOVE handmade creams and stuff like that. I got one that smells like cotton candy and it's the richest body cream ever. And there are so many pretty bottles and containers.... hang a little cross stitch on plastic canvas (or spraystarch the aida or glue onto cardboard or magnetic sheet) on it as an added bonus. I give out lots of magnets and ornaments too. Small and quick, but still beautiful and made with love.

Do that, I'm pretty good at remembering what I have, or if I recognize a designer's style, I can look and ask friends if they have it. I have a vast network!!!

I spend Christmas with my family.....It used to be chaos for the last 15 years that's how long one of my sisters has been married....You see both my sisters & brother are married so my parents would alternate doing the Christmas lunch/dinner because they would go and spend the rest of the day with their in-laws...Then one day my mother decided to get everybody together which meant both my sisters inlaws & brother in- laws/sister in-laws plus all the in-laws from my brothers wife side.... So we would end close to 25/30 people christmas day...But each year somebody nominated their house and everybody would bring food.....It was great no rushing to get to the next house we were all in the one place from morning til late....The best thing was all the adults would do Kris Kringle for gifts but all thekids got presents and we would hand them out when were all together in the morning..... It was great... But over the years we have lost loved ones so now it just my sisters & brother and their families with me and my folks.....Having a BBQ or the spit going....by late evening we are roasting chestnuts on the fire and marshmallows for the kids..... But the best thing is the memories you make knowing you will have them forever.... That's what I love about the holidays.... I usually take a week and go away and rent a beach house and unwind.....I can't wait

Anybody want to get up a raiding party and move in on Meli's Christmas in Australia?
You cross-stitchers, you're all maniacs. I've got a couple of friends with your condition. You've probably got the "She who dies with the most (whatever) wins" title. But I could put up a crochet friend against you, she's got it too.

Cross stitchers live by the motto "she who has the most stash wins"... unfortunately so do patchwork quilters, so I'm running out of room for both my stashes. Because of this forum, I haven't cross stitched in 3 months and I think this will be the first year ever that my little nephew and niece will not get a cross stitched ornament. I think any crafter feels the same way. You need lots of stuff handy, in case there's a nuclear war and the stores don't open and you need something.

My mother didn't do cross stitch much, but she could sew, knit, crochet, quilt, and do needlepoint. My sister and I found at least half a dozen unfinished projects when we cleaned out our parents' house. I have a few of them in my closet that I have to get help finishing.

goldberry, my mom was the same!!! Anything with a needle, she could do. Funny thing is, I never liked doing any of this stuff while she was alive... maybe this is a way of remembering her.

I am just able to sew on buttons! Everything else, I'm pretty mediocre at. Until she was gone, I hadn't really realized how talented she was. That's why I'd at least like to get the unfinished stuff done.

Christmas and Easter are really big for us and have the most tradition with them. My first married Christmas was the first Christmas with out my dad. I had 9 year old sisters and without Daddy around, I wanted to help Santa. So, my hubby and I spent the night with my mom and we helped my brother and my mom with setting up a Trampoline in the backyard that was from Santa. That was the only year that Santa Clause brought the dog a present! LOL After seeing my sisters faces on what they got from Santa, we headed over his parents' house which was an hour and half away from my mom's house and spent the rest of Christmas with them swapping gifts and such.
Then his dad died a few days after Christmas and a couple of years later his mom and brother died as well. So now we just spend the night with Mom and do Santa at her house (this is the first year that my son knows that Santa is everyone who gives gifts in secret), and my daughter still firmly believes that Santa comes down Mam-Maw's chimney so we have to be there because we don't have a fireplace. So we will still do Santa Clause for her and then go to church for 10:30 since it's on Sunday this year. (I do church nursery every other week and the children's church and preschoolers are going to try to do a little program this year together, if I can co-ornate it with the children's church. LOL) Anyway... I this is our tradition. Oh I forgot Christmas dinner and opening of gifts from every one except Santa Clause is done on Christmas Eve, so my sisters and brother can be with their in-laws. And my mom tries to go see all the grandkids at their houses on Christmas day as well to see what Santa brought them. Although we do have one family that moved an hour and half away and she only got to talk to my nephew on the phone last year. But this year with a brand new baby, she might make the trip to New Orleans area to see her grandkids after seeing the others. LOL (Unless we can talk my sister and her family into staying with us at Mom's house and doing Santa with us.)
Anyway.... that's what we have planned for every year. But we are also flexable in case things change. :-)

Thanksgiving and Christmas for me is very quiet; just my brother and I. My other brother lives in Arizona and only comes over to S. Calif. four or five times a year and usually not at the holidays. So I just cook a small turkey dinner and make pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving and cook a good Christmas dinner.
And Danni and Sunnyirish, I'm a cross-stitcher too, although I'm very slow at it. I'm working on a hummingbirds pattern now...with a dragon and castle partly done. I'm always doing that -- starting one before finishing the other; not a good habit. I also used to de crewel work also. Haven't done that in years so perhaps one of these days I'll get back into that. Hey, I know that I have pattern books that I don't want any longer (that is if I can find them, I put them away somewhere). If anyone is interested, PM me and we'll see if we can work something out.

About the cross stitching. I can do cross stitching if the pattern is on the fabric. When I was in the Renaissance Faire a few years back, I did cross stitch my character's initials on handkerchiefs without a pattern. But I have no idea how to do the counted cross stitch. LOL
For Thanksgiving, we all gather at my Moms usually for supper after both of my sisters and my brother have lunch at their in-laws and we always have Birthday Cake and ice cream for desert. My daughter's birthday is Nov. 25, so it's always during Thanksgiving week. My husband's birthday is Nov. 20th so he gets his b-day cards on Thanksgiving if we don't see my mom before, and my Mom's b-day is Nov. 24 so again Thanksgiving week and she gets prezzies too along with my daughter. But it's real low key with her. She likes to put the spotlight on the kids. LOL My b-day is low key now that I have a neice who was born just four days before my b-day. I teased her this year when she turned 4 that her cake was my cake cause it was my b-day. She said, No, Auntie, it has my name on it! See?!" We all cracked up laughing it was so funny, reading that it doesn't look as funny as it was. I guess you had to be there.
