Diana...I will definitely be keeping you in my thoughts. I'm sorry that everything is hitting you all at once. I hope that your human family and your doggie family all get better soon. And be sure to take care of yourself as well -- that's important was well.

Walking in these shoes is extremely difficult (been there). What brought me through were my friends always being there to talk with me and God's strenght that kept me focused 'one day at a time'. I hope you are surrounded with love!!!

Continued thoughts and prayers out to you, Diana, during this difficult and challenging time. It's very hard being a caregiver PERIOD, whether for human or animal life. You're life, attention, and responsibilities get spread out soooo thin, that the only thing that's left for you is stress, loss of sleep and mental and physical exhaustion. Having been through many similar situations myself, I know that it's usually not being down the bottom of "the list", it is in reality, not being on the list at all!! A friend once told me when I was going through similar circumstances, was " the good thing about stress is that it doesn't last forever, it eventually breaks in to one direction or another". Although the outcomes may not be what we pray for, it's out of our control, so let the pieces "fall" so to speak. We lose all our energy by trying to hold up the walls and preventing the world from falling down around us. Simple truth is, it's gonna fall apart anyway, so save your energy for the aftermath. All the best to you my friend, will pray for you to receive comfort and help in dealing with these difficult times.....

Just wanted to let anyone who hears about Tornadoes hitting around the Cincinnati area with major damage and fatalities, that they all hit south of where of I live, so my family (human and canine)and I are fine. But, I did spend a couple hours hunkered down in my house with my mom and the puppies as the storms passed through this afternoon. I do promise to try to get an update on my injured puppy and step-dad's dad as there have been significant issues this week on both fronts out sometime this weekend.

Dianno, when I heard about the tornadoes hitting the Cincinnati area, my first thought was of you and your family. I'm so glad to know that you all are okay. I'm still praying for you about all the other issues. Thank you for keeping us updated even though you're very busy and stressed. Hang in there, my friend! The sun's going to shine soon.

I wanted to take this opportunity to first and foremost thank everyone who has kept me and my family (human and canine) in your thoughts and prayers and would ask that you continue to do so, as our journey still has a long way to go unfortunately. I also wanted to update all of you as where the various issues going on with me stand at the moment.
As for the downsizing at my job, the only thing I can tell you right now on that front is that we have a meeting scheduled for Wednesday March 7th, to have the director of our department (So the boss about four level’s up from my position) to give his perspective on the upcoming downsizing. Though honestly I don’t look for him to really tell us anything, as usually in these situations, human resources and legal usually forbids the managers from saying anything that hasn’t been pre-approved by them, which means the managers just wind up regurgitating what was written in the official press release.
Now as for my Step-dad’s dad. He was released from the hospital a week ago today, after having a cardiac catherization to help determine his eligibility for the experimental valve replacement procedure. He has been staying with my step-dad’s sister since he has been having shortness of breath due to being in heart failure while awaiting for the doctors to determine how they were going to address the issues with his valve. The good news is that the board of doctors tasked with determining eligibility for going though the groin to replace the valve met this past Thursday where they reviewed his case and determined that he is eligible for the experimental surgery. So as it stands right now, he is scheduled to have surgery at 6:30am EST on Thursday March 8th. So if you can say a special prayer around that time it would be much appreciated and I will keep you informed as to how he is doing. But the most stressful thing I have dealt with this week has been the issues with my little beagle who has the dislocated elbow. She came home from the emergency clinic on Monday night and that is when the fun began. When she came home she had a cast from her toes all the way up her leg, over shoulder and around her body. The reason I wasn’t able to make the chat during the episode Monday, is because I literally had one of my hands under her belly helping her balance herself as she was learning how to stand with one her legs in a cast. From there things just went downhill, as for the rest of the night she would sleep for about 45 minute, before waking up and crying. Needless to say I didn’t get any sleep that night, so I wound up taking Tuesday as a vacation day. Thankfully she started to sleep more starting on Tuesday, so I was able to rest when she rested, but given at this point she still had to be given pain meds at 2am in the morning I wound up taking Wednesday off too. Then on Thursday, I returned to work as my mother was able to stay with her for most the day.
Now at one point she did manage to reach one of her stitches from a small lacerations she got when she dislocated her elbow. The good news was that the stitches were due to come out anyway, so we took her to the family vet who remove the remaining part of the stitch. But the bad news is that he then told us that now that she has dislocated her elbow once she is more prone to doing again in the future and the only way we could ensure that it won’t ever happen again is to get rid of either her or our black lab mix as the black lab mix romps too hard with the beagle because of being a bigger dog. Honestly, the vet should have just told me to choose which arm I want to have hacked off, because I would have taken that much better emotionally. Just for the record, the beagle is more my dog and the black lab is more my step-dad’s do so there is no way in hell we are giving either of the puppies up, so as it stands we are in the process of figuring out how we are going to keep them separated in the house going forward and how to rotate taking them outside at different times.
Then when I was just starting to calm down a bit and relax, that is when she decided to really give me a heart attack as in the middle of the night Thursday, she some how managed to slip her leg out of the cast even though she was sleeping in bed with me, I never felt her move. Fortunately, my mother was able to take her back to Vet first thing Friday morning at which point the Vet decided just to take the cast off all together as she is bearing weight on the leg without appearing to be in pain. As it stands now we just have to try to keep her from jumping off and on the bed and when she goes out she has to be on a leash so she doesn’t try to run, even though there is nothing more than that she wants to do at the moment. Especially, this morning when she saw not only a squirrel but also a cat in the neighbor’s yard.
I hate to say this but she seems to be doing better at this point than I am. Honestly, I have to say I have spent the better part of the last week, jerking myself awake with every little sound and movement she makes. It got so bad that in order from having a complete meltdown, that I did something Friday night after the tornadoes past through my area that I totally detest having to do and that is take some of my prescribed anti-anxiety medication in order to get a full night sleep. Which thankfully did help my mental outlook tremendously. Anyway, I really appreciate knowing that all you are here for me and have been keeping my family (human and canine) in your thoughts and prayers.
