Here is the preliminary ratings for Ep. 210. Just so you know the MNF game was shown on ABC affiliates in Boston and Kansas City, so don't be surprise if Castle is adjusted down in the final numbers. Though this will not explain why H50's demo is down 15% from 3.3 last week to 2.8 this week and why it's viewers are down 9.8% from 11.466 million to 10.339 million, especially since this episode was being billed as one of the more crucial ones for the show since it featured the continuation of the Wo Fat storyline.
CBS Hawaii Five-0 2.8 (18-49 Demo) 10.339 (Million Viewers) ABC Castle 2.7 (18-49 Demo) 11.915 (Million Viewers) NBC Rock Center 0.9 (18-49 Demo) 3.628(Million Viewers)

PL courts the DVR audience personally now. Tweeted his love for them. Is it fair to say the numbers increased from last week, given that there was no Castle last week, so the increase then, over the week before, could be due to lack of anything better to watch? And since the numbers stayed about the same, it's actually an increase? Anyone follow what I'm trying to say? Sorry, I should never get involved with math.

Perhaps I can save Dianno & Darksea some time. I would try to explain it in my own words, but I just pulled this from Nielsen.com How We Do It
Panels Electronic metering technology is at the heart of the Nielsen ratings process. Our tools capture not only what channel is being watched, but also who is watching and when, including “time-shifted” viewing.
Nielsen’s TV families represent a cross-section of representative homes throughout the U.S. Their viewing is measured by our TV meters and Local People Meters which capture information on what’s being viewed and when and, in the major U.S. markets, specifically who and how many are watching. Additionally, we collect more than two million paper diaries from across the country each year during “sweeps.”
Census Using data from set top boxes, Nielsen delivers a constant, real-time stream of information, revealing tuning behavior during programs and commercials. We can tell clients which commercials are being watched and which have the strongest engagement and impact. We even analyze which position in the program or commercial block is most effective for a specific brand. Direct Link: www.nielsen.com/us/en/measurement/television-measurement.html

Thank You for answering me. So if I understand you correctly, the only people who are counted have a Neilson Box in their home. The rest of us do not count. As far as Neilson having a cross section of people in the US I don't buy it. I would want to know where this cross section is and how many boxes are installed. You may think I am a little nutty for this information but I would hate to think this so called 'cross section' could cost us our Fab 4 for another season.

From what I understand of the Nielsen system, I think it's very flawed. But like anything in statistics, there's no way for it to be 100% accurate without having the boxes in every single home in the U.S.

It's the way it's always been. Totally inaccurate and unfair. Keep in mind it's not so much an interest in how many people give a care about the show, but totally about how many people are actually sitting down in front of the TV and hopefully catching all the commercials. If they could get away with showing a couple of million people the Aquarium Channel (or my favorite, the Fireplace Channel) and putting in ads, that would be not only the No. 1 show in the States (because the rest of the world doesn't matter), but it would also be the No. 1 channel and station in the States.

ok some I may be ignorant - not the expert at this - but - H50 was pretty nicely whopping Castle at least in the demo - but while they do win the demo again - it is a lot closer (.5) is that bad?
the whole ratings thing defeats my comprehension.

I would recommend going to 'search' and typing in 'ratings'.
