So if CBS is really trying to keep this on the down-low...I guess I'm just wasting my time hoping for the best huh?

Previous to the premiere, there was a Hawaii Five O advertisment (the one with TOQ) every hour during prime time, and an average of 5 times during the daytime hours, in some markets. Since monday, the Episode 2 promos have aired a grand total of 12 times at least in the New Mexico broadcast area. 12 times, total. The extended promo with more Lori...hasn't aired at all here. (Our affiliate, gives me air slot times. Because I'm special.) Unless things have changed since I've retired from buying darksea, the numbers you have for the promo would extend nationwide. They would only be shown during network breaks, not local ones. Local breaks are usually filled with spots and perhaps a promo for a local show - like their news product or something along those lines. They always left the network show promotion in the hands of network itself. (In my buying days - which was when dinosaurs still roamed... )

I'm not too sure, I'm only speaking for New Mexico so I don't get jumped again. Last week, during the football games, people were reporting that there was no H50 promos, yet in New Mexico, there were. I thought that was national too, but several kinda acted like I was lying my ass off, and it was a national offense, so I am just claiming New Mexico and no further. I kinda know how the promos work, but basically, I just went through a week on this board where people were going out of their way to show that I'm an ignorant idiot who doesn't know anything, so I am going with the safe and putting disclaimers that it's for at least New Mexico.

I understand totally darksea - and for the record, you are a font of information and insight here. In my short time here, I've learned alot from both you and Dianno. I'll put it out there and say that the promotion for episode 2 nationally has been lackluster at best. Can't say if it's in direct relation to what's to come, but compared to the premiere promotion, it's skimpy. And that's a shame cause it will only help to widen the gap between H50 and Castle. Maybe the premiere of Mike and Molly tomorrow as a lead in will help - I guess we'll see on Tuesday.

Hi Diana: I have to agree with you when it comes to social media presence for Castle(just for the record I like both H5O and Castle, either DVR one or watch the other live), both leads on Castle have twitter and facebooks accounts(a great way to interact with there fans), and the other social media outlets they use. I think that is why, at least for the 1st episode, there were more fans watching castle and yes H5O did win the ratings(seeing on tvbthenumbers but not by much). I believe in the long run that might help Castle alot(my opinion only). And i think, from what I have seen so far for Season 2 social media for H5O, they are lacking a bit in that area, I don't think it helps that Alex, Scott or Grace have no twitter or facebook accounts(I know they don't like them), but to promote there show it helps alot and fans that can't get to see any of them in person, feel contacted and that is where Castle is better. OK, I have rattled on long enough, sorry about that, sometimes I get started and can't stop.

Hawaii Five O didn't win the ratings. They won the 18-49 demographic, but overall ratings, they lost to Castle.
It may be that Alex, Scott and Grace's absense on social media may hurt their image, to a point. However, there are quite a few who do have social media connections that make up for it, and are constantly out there making their mark. One of the hugest problems is that as a whole, CBS has gone back to slacking off on their promotion on screen. Castle also still has that DWTS lead-in, while H50's lead in is still weak. The rest of the CBS lineup after Two and a Half men, began to drop people. Castle also has a few years on Hawaii Five o with a more established fan base.
And then there is the biggest problem of all. Instead of a dedicated fan base, in many cases, H50 has a fan base that likes to get what they can for themselves, and then discourage others from having an opinion, which basically gets people to jump ship.

Sorry Darksea: My bad. I guess I don't understand the whole ratings thing, as well as I thought.

Certain H50 fans (maybe I'm one of them, and I just don't know it) really do the show a disservice. Which is a shame, because it is a great show on so many levels.
CBS is really sucking lately. Or maybe they have always sucked and I'm just now catching on...
Update: just turned on a football game on CBS and the H50 promo was on. I'll try to count how many come on if you'd like.

CBS has always sucked. Their previous decisions with certain shows did in fact inspire me to get my name known with them and not totally in a positive way. (though they do send me toys every once and a while, they may be bribes to pray I, and my other crew don't get woken up again. muhuhuhuh)

I had the feeling you were going to say that Oh, you know they're bribes!

Not that it really matters all that much since H50 was a repeat and Castle was a new episode, but for anyone who was interested here are the ratings from last night repeat of this episode:
ABC Castle 2.3(18-49 Demo) 9.75 (Million Viewers) CBS Hawaii Five-0 (R) 1.6(18-49 Demo) 6.10 (Million Viewers) NBC Rock Center with Brian Williams 0.8 (18-49 Demo) 3.10(Million Viewers)

Did Castle fans not know it was new? I don't think it was because people didn't know it was on as much as the National Championship Bowl Football game was on last night on ESPN and everything was going to get clobbered by it. I would almost bet my last dollar that when the DVR numbers come out that you will see a dramatic uptick in the numbers.
