Holy Toledo. "First come, first served" does not mean the same as RSVP. Announcing this over a month in advance is an invitation to chaos. A lot of people won't read past "free event, open to the public" and they'll be making their plane reservations on the spot. The place will be deluged. I don't know how the roads are around there but compared to SOTB there will be a traffic jam of epic proportions. My first thought exactly. Hope the estate has high walls around it, and they have good security to keep extra people out, and keep the ones who get in from misbehaving.

Dumb idea. Would Lisa Lisa be first in line? The police aren't going to be happy. I can only imagine the costs for SOTB just got too sky-high for CBS to foot the bill. Can you imagine the security nightmares?

First off, I think it's a clever idea. Obviously heavy on the promotional side, as that estate is very popular for weddings and other events... and as such, it surely must have some parking available. Another plus is that this is not an advanced debut, but is being held on the actual night that anyone can just watch it on their tv sets at home. That will go far in dwindling the crowds down. The only real draw here, is the idea of watching it at 'Steve's home' instead of your own... but still, it's a clever idea and I wish them well in it's success.

Can you imagine the security nightmares? LOL! Yes most definitely Lisa Lisa will be the very FIRST in line or heaven help the person who is. Thank you for the laugh. ;D

Perhaps they think they can draw a crowd with their claim that you'll "Party with the celebrities and fans of Hawaii Five-0 and celebrate in style." I'm sure they're hoping people will infer that Steve, Danny, Chin and Kono will be joining the party. Closer to fact is probably that they'll be inviting local actors / residents who happened to appear in the background of a shot or two. I agree that it's a clever idea but I'm one of those who'd rather watch it from the comfort of my own home.

So they want to invite thousands of people to watch in an actual house??? This is the part I'm having trouble with. How do you fit them all in? Obviously not everyone who wants to will get in. How many people do you fit into an estate? Where do they watch? Can't be in a living room or only 20 people are going to fit. Can't see it being worth the trouble for the amount of people they'd be able to actually get in. Would the cast/crew be coming? Who pays for the police and security and setup and cleanup? SOTB was a great idea but it got way too big. Holding it on the Monday night it premieres on TV would be a better idea, though - if it ever happens again. Maybe they could just have events in sports arenas on the Monday, like they did for the final Lost episode. That way each venue is responsible for itself. And there would still be some publicity.

Down here at the local Angelika movie theater they run the season premieres of certain TV shows and sometimes more. I don't keep up with it, but they ran Mad Men at least several weeks in a row, if not the whole season, ditto Falling Skies. For free, too. Some of Lost, I think, and in particular the finale. Which I tried to see but didn't want to wait in line. They could sure as hell do that in Honolulu.

SOTB3 is NOT in limbo any more...... As per CBS.....
CBS confirms a red-carpet SOTB #H50 Season 3 premiere will be held Sept. 23 at Waikiki Beach. The show’s regulars are expected to attend.
So I'm guessing this was the big news PL was alluding to last week....only one day before the season premiere airs on TV.

Outtakes Online: Five-0 announces Waikiki premiere
The cast of "Hawaii Five-0" thank the crowd gathered at "Sunset on the Beach" in Waikiki prior to the second season advance screening last year. (Star-Advertiser File) BY MIKE GORDON / mgordon@staradvertiser.com Fans of Hawaii Five-0 can exhale now CBS announced today that it will hold a red-carpet Sunset on the Beach premiere of the crime drama one day before the start of the third season. CBS will hold the free advance screening Sunday, Sept. 23, on Waikiki Beach. The exact time hasn't been set for red-carpet arrivals by the show's stars.
But Peter Lenkov, the show's executive producer, promised the season three premiere will be a jaw-dropping, nail-biting, edge-of-your seat ride. All of the show's regulars Alex O'Loughlin, Scott Caan, Grace Park and Daniel Dae Kim attended previous beach screenings and are expected to attend again this time. Lenkov is expected as well. Red-carpet galas are not the norm in television, but there's no better way to thank the show's appreciative fans for the love and support we receive on a daily basis, Lenkov said in an email. It's hard to articulate, but this show is like no other I have ever been involved with, he said. It feels as if each and every person on the island has a hand in the making of it. If they're not working on it. They're rooting for it to succeed. This is the third year CBS will premiere the season on the beach. But unlike previous seasons, CBS remained silent this summer on the prospect of any advance screening, frustrating out-of-state fans who wanted to plan trips to Hawaii to see the premiere and gawk at the stars. The network announced the event at 4:30 a.m. today via Twitter. Last year's event drew 10,000 people, including many who camped out all day in order to get spot near the red carpet. The arrival of the show's stars triggers a frenzy of camera-toting, tweeting, screaming fans. Lenkov said they are the show's ohana and their support is vital. "I can tell you it does not go unappreciated," he said."It reminds us of why we are working so hard."
