I sort of wonder if part of the reason for the delay in announcing was just to limit the number of out-of-state fans flying in for the event, to keep the craziness level down just a little bit.
And yes, what will the other event organizers do now?

SOTB will be usually in the evening Hawaii Time, which means its the middle of the night EST. By the time the tweeters and videographers go home and make their Youtube videos leaking the info about the episode, most people wont see it till Monday morning and by then its premiere day, so no big deal. Last year there was an entire week to leak the info. I bet that has something to do with it also.
Oh and now that they have their SOTB, they are complaining about the date. This fandom is never happy.

Hmm, interesting given that is also the night of the Primetime Emmy Awards in LA and also the weekend that Alex is suppose to take part in the Tough Mudder Event in Lake Tahoe. So I wonder what impact if any these things will have on SOTB.
I agree though that putting it the night before has a lot to do with minimizing the leak factor because if it is shown at 8pm Hawaii Time that is 2am EDT, and unfortunately since I have to get up and go to work the next day, I definitely won't be staying up to watch the webcast and/or twitter feed. I also think them putting on a Sunday night and by holding off announcing until such a late date so that people can't fly in for it in is an effort to pare it down a bit.

There was an announcement a few weeks ago that Alex would not be attending the tough mudder event due to scheduling conflicts. Maybe they knew the date of SOTB and purposely didn't announce it?

Wondering if Alex canceled doing the Tough Mudder event because of his shoulder? Would be a bummer to re-injure it so soon after getting everything back on track. Just a thought......

Does this mean the fans (not on here) bitching about it can finally be happy now? I didn't particularly care either way, but I think it's nice they're doing it again this year. Looking forward to the pictures and interviews!

I understand what CBS is doing, trying keep the leaking of the season opener to a minimum. I also have a question that has been swirling around in my head sense I heard about this announcement this morning, isn't both Alex and Scott nominated for an Emmy or am I just imaging things?

I remember reading earlier in the summer that some people were trying to guess when SOTB 3 would be based on when SOTB 1 and 2 were held and booking airline tickets--hoping they were guessing right. So of course this year it is the day before the premiere and anyone who already booked a ticket is screwed unless they can manage to re-book the ticket and get the time off of work and etc. So yeah, I can see where some people would be upset. But then some people are never happy.
It was hard staying away from spoiler threads last year. If I remember correctly, SOTB 2 was a full 10 days before the September 20th premiere --that is a long time to keep secrets.

what on earth are they bitching about the date for? they get to see it a day before the rest of the world. for feck sake, here in ireland and the uk we probably have wait until january AGAIN before the premier is shown. thank god for the internet and the ability to watch it online.
the day before is A OK with me because it's just a day where i only have to escape spoilers, while i've read spoilers on here about certain events, i really would not like to be spoiled entirely.

Maybe they should have waited until there was an actual announcement. These people have no one to blame but themselves. What if there was no SOTB3? I feel bad for them but it's not Peter or CBS's fault.

Maybe those that planned that other will handle the overflow from SOTB, as some locals might prefer the smaller setting, because getting a glimpse of the case as they pass is not likely, and 10,000 is a lot of people to get on the beach and all wanting a good seat. Security has gotta be a nightmare to work out!
CBS is smart to have the premiere much closer to the broadcast date. At least they won't have to try to keep a lid on video leaks for an entire week this way.
