I really liked the episode. Almost like old times, Steve being crazy, Danno freaking out. Chin was given a healthy and well-dserved chunk of hero airtime. Kamekona provided the tear in my eye, all worried about his ohana, while making me laugh with him razzing the almost-cop. Toast was back, if only for a microsecond, and funny as always. The new SWAT guy, funny, has possibilities. Was the Navy guy involved in the plot, since he's the one that got Cath out on the road? Or just coincidence? Guess she would've found her way to the palace anyhow. Speaking thereof, is this how they change the buildings? Although it didn't really get blown up or anything. Little mystery there with Kono, it seemed like there was going to be a problem with them leaving... Konad couldn't have had a baby already, could they? Henry's Spanish was excellent. His fake Spanish-English was hard to understand, though. RIP Camaro. All in all, there was 99.9% good, no bad. BUT the ugliest ugly - the horrendous possibility that PL is forging ahead with the soapy "Steve, I am your brother" plot. Aaaaack.

Much better than last season's premiere. I really hope they aren't going the half-brother route. Doesn't PL realize that fans have been suspecting that since 301? Why would he drag it out for so long only to do the most obvious? I hope Max gets the results back quickly and tells him that it's not a match.

Hmm, unfortunately I thought this was overall a pretty weak ep. Quite a disappointment.
The Good - the return of Toast. Truly the only thrill I got out of the episode. - Chi McBride as Grover has potential. He's creative, competent, and has lots of personality. Hopefully he won't just end up as a two-dimensional character whose only purpose is to be a pain in the butt when they need an obstacle for 5-0. - the action and stunts. Stellar as always. - the return of the security guard from the football ep, now as a police trainee, was worth a chuckle.
The Bad - the plot. A pointless series of contrived events that only served as an excuse for gratuitous action and violence, and to try and set up future events (Kono and Adam). Catherine spends 5 minutes in the episode being nothing but a damsel in distress, and Steve comes up with the most inept "plan" ever to try and both get her back and not let the prisoners get away. Stupid. Why would the NLM care about helping the Yakuza and betraying Konad? Danny's ridiculous choice of timing to discuss his relationship woes was so awkward I couldn't manage to find it funny. - no word on Fong's condition.
The Amusing (hopefully) - right now I'm going to go with the assumption that having Steve suspect t Wo Fat is his brother, is Lenkov's way of poking gentle fun at the fans for all our fears over the past season. If he really is messing with us that way, then it's actually pretty funny. But I do hope we get a definitive answer about this mystery in the not so distant future, because I'm losing interest.

I do kinda think that they had Steve suggest he and Wo Fat are brothers as a wink at the fans who've been guessing that and begging for it not to be so. I think I'll actually be surprised now if they are because I just can't imagine PL showing his hand like that. He has to be misleading us! That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

I liked the episode. As stated above we got a healthy dose of everyone doing their thing. Was it over the top? Of course, it wouldn't be H50 if it wasn't, lol. I always leave my smart cap off when watching and just go with the flow....Since they are now looking for a familial connection between McG and WoFat, my guess is that there is none but that may mean that Doris isn't McG's real mom or something like that... Speaking of WoFat, doesn't his half normal, half melted face remind you of the Batman arch villain Two-Face?

I LOVED this episode! There was amazing action and the story line was great! The interaction between Steve and Danny was spot-on. We were able to see more of Steve's heart for Catherine...it is about time. Even Kamekona insisting on going into HQ because his Ohana was in the building was terrific. I loved seeing Chin using his fighting skills on the screen instead of just leaving to do a task. So sorry to say goodbye to Danny's car. Congratulations to the writers, Peter Lenkov, the cast and crew for an outstanding premiere episode for Season 4! Can't wait until next Friday!

Enjoyed this episode better than last season's first episode. Danny didn't seem so over the top. Liked seeing Chin go all badass. Steve was his old superSEAL self. Liked Chi, seeing the cop trainee confront Kamekona - so funny. Wasn't sure why the guys were after WoFat. And hopefully by next week we will know if WoFat is Steve's brother - better not be, just saying. But I have a sneaking feeling the test results will come back inconclusive - sounds like something PL would do. Not sure if Navy guy on beach was real Navy or just a way to get Cath kidnapped. Nonetheless, liked the scene between her and Steve when she was rescued. Funny how Danny picks the most inopportune time to tell Steve about him and Gabby. Surprised to see Toast again - love that guy. Not sure where the whole Kono/Adam thing is going. Overall, looking forward to watching it again on my dvr.

Just finish watching last night's season premiere, and enjoyed it very much. Steve was bad-ass and although he could have done with a few more scratches or bullet holes, for the sake of realism, it was still good to see him in good form.
Liked all the comradere and one-liners between Steve and Danny. "No, I went for donuts." "Hey, I think this tree is extinct." "Yeah, I can see that." "Do I need more kevlar?" etc. It was all very good. The only conversation that seemed out of place at all was when Danny talked about Gabby while Steve was doing chest compression on the perp. But since I can't think of any place better for them to have put it, perhaps it should have been saved for the next episode.
Some will gag over the McRoll scene, although I have to say it was done very, and surprisingly, well. It was at least good that Steve realized he was not willing to lose one more person that was important to him, whatever the relationship may be.
Liked everything between Adam & Kono. Thought it was well done and realistic.
Liked bad-ass Chin, as always.
Chi and his new role fit in surprisingly well. I can just see the friction between he and Five-0 in the future. Hopefully it will not interfere with the bromance too much. I can handle the new SWAT leader being a thorn in Steve/Five-0's side, but not too much more than that.
Overall, I thought this episode flowed very well. Too many premieres and finales just have too much crammed into them that it becomes hard to keep track and things get left feeling incomplete. But that was not the case with this one, which I was glad of.
I was thinking about this.... am wondering if the fact that Steve mentioned the half-brother thing, that it could mean they will not be. Perhaps PL is taking our suspicions and running with them, only to turn the tables on all us viewers by them not being brothers. After all, it would only take Max a few hours to get the tests done... not half the season, let alone the entire season.
So, I am going to go out on a limb here and say that the test will be negative and leave Steve scratching his head, because he thought he had figured out the missing piece of the puzzle.... but he didn't. And it will be that very, 'then what else could it be?' question hanging over his head that drives him nuts the rest of the season.

Runner, I'm thinking as well that the fact that they've told us Steve suspects that Wo Fat might be his brother means that he isn't - Lenkov did say something about the answer to the mystery not being the obvious.

Was the Navy guy involved in the plot, since he's the one that got Cath out on the road? Or just coincidence? I wondered the same thing, Dani. Could only assume that if he had been involved, that it would have become more obvious later in the episode.
