Runner, you made me smile Though I'm not really a fan of this part of the year.... From Milan, Happy Holidays to everyone!!!! Thanks for the beautiful picture ile105. I too, am not a big fan of the holidays. I do love the lights and the music (and the food goodies, if I'm totally honest), but I don't have a lot of family left and we were never really big on celebrating anyway. But still, I do enjoy watching the little ones with Santa at the mall and watching their eyes light up, and remembering back to a more simple time when all you had to worry about was whether or not Santa got your wish list.

Everybody, I'm glad you liked the picture! Booklover, you know what I asked Santa this year? To get me a shining Steve McGarrett But you're right. I wish I was still that age I could actually make a list...

Well, let's just say I'm sick and tired of all the hypocrisy behind the "exchanging smiles", "exchanging gifts" with people you actually can't stand. Plus, I don't have that big, warming family... We don't have a huge Christmas tradition, Ile, the family I grew up in was neither big (I'm an only child) or what anyone would call 'warm' (red neck white supremacist usually aren't), nor were there any traditions (at least none that should be repeated, ever). These days, I have nothing to do with the few relatives I have left. And it's easy to look around and see the commercialism and greed this holiday can bring out in some people. I passed a billboard once that said, 'Be Happy, The Choice Is Yours'. Although it didn't pertain to Christmas, it certainly applies. Perhaps it's time to put down the wrapping paper and read the CHRISTmas story. Our world tells us Christmas is about children - it's not. It's about one child. Our world tells us Christmas is about giving - it's not. It's about one gift, that came as a child. Our world tells us Christmas is about love - it's not. It's about one love, that gave us all one gift, that was one child. Yeah, definitely time to read the CHRISTmas story.

Been a busy couple weeks - still is - lots going on, so I haven't been around much. However you celebrate the holidays - just take a moment and think about the 'reason for the season'. (very well said, Runner) HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!

That was really something, runner. Thanks for sharing. And you're right; I'm so focused on everything else I despise, that I'm failing to see the one Child that matters.

Hi everyone, will start to hit the road again in a few hours and I'm not sure how much time I can sneak off to visit you over the next days. So I wanted to wish everyone an early merry christmas. Frohe WeihnachtenEnjoy the time off with your loved ones, laugh, share food and drinks and no matter what make yourself a good time. It's those memories we can go back to, in times we feel challenged. I heart you all and big hugs to everyone.

Joyeaux Noel from Canada! (No, I'm not Quebecois, but living in Canada one picks up enough French to muddle through most circumstances... )
