Hi well I have finished buying all my christmas presents and now I am wraping them up. I never leave it till the last min because I hate crowded shops with people rushing every where and bumping into you when you are trying to look at things.

Hi well I have finished buying all my christmas presents and now I am wraping them up. I never leave it till the last min because I hate crowded shops with people rushing every where and bumping into you when you are trying to look at things. Congratulations Mandy! *secrectly telling* I have finished also - almost! But I know what to get and where, so it's just a matter of time. And I need to finish it, so I can get what I will present myself this year. Made myself swear that this will the last present I will buy. (I know it's egoistical, but it's the last time in a long, that I will do something for me. Once the baby is there, everything goes to him). Still baking whenever I can. Hubby is inhaling what I already made. It's never going to last until christmas.

Margarine, I *love* Christmas pudding, it's my favourite, but I have to admit that I like my own home-made Christmas pudding far better than bought pudding! I have an old recipe that comes out quite light and fruity, and contains black treacle and Guinness. We make enough that we need to mix it up in a bucket because it's too much for the mixing bowl, and we all have a stir (the kids use their hands!) and make a wish as we do so. A funny tale: a few years back a friend in California asked for my Christmas pudding recipe, and so I posted it online for her. A few days later she came back to me perplexed - did I really mean 'mixed spice'? It transpired that what she knew as mixed spice is what we would call curry powder, whereas to me 'mixed spice' is a mix of cinnamon, coriander, dill, fennel, nutmeg, ginger, cloves and turmeric that I use in sweet things like cookies and cakes. I'm just glad she questioned the recipe before going ahead and cooking it... Recipe here if anyone's interested: azziria.livejournal.com/1009079.html Thanx for the recipe azziria.....If I may bother you what can you substitute the raisins, currants & sultanas with and get that nice fruity flavor....Reason I ask is because I am allergic to those......any ideas.... Hey sweetey, you ever considered substituting it with dried cranberries, cherries and something like that? Not quite the same flavor, but if it's alright it may be worth a try.

Drooling! There's some names I've never heard before - the kipferl sounds simple enough, and the pictures look like something my grandmother used to make but I don't know what they were called. When I Googled Makronen, all the first pages came up auf Deutsch! Cool. They sound good. But the Bethmännchen is definitely not something I'd encounter here, I may try it. Yum...

Every year I have all my Christmas shopping done by now but this year I only have to buy a couple of gifts....My nieces & nephews are at that age where they don't want a present they want money because they are putting towards what they want to buy....
Yeahhhhh NO running around thinking What do I buy......Less stress this year....
My 3year old nephew will be spoiled as he is the youngest...I went to have a look at some things for him today but wasn't impressed so next week I will be going.....My sisters and I are chipping in and want to buy him a little motorised car/fire engine.....But finding the right one....takes time........
I have been preparing food today as well...because tomorrow it's my parents wedding anniversary and the whole clan are coming over for a BBQ.....so it's going to be another day of drinking, eating & lots of laughter....Am looking forward to some fun.....Hope it's a nice day....that's all I want Santa....... ....

I love shopping for Christmas presents!! I went out with my mom yesterday to buy gifts for some little kids (the grandkids of her best friend). We saw the most adorable outfit ever. She didn't end up buying it...I was upset. I wish i knew somebody that was a little girl in a size 3T. It was like the cutest thing I have ever seen!!! I also love baking!! I usually make the traditional chocolate chips, we make chocolate lollipops in the shape of santa. And last year i tried these really good mint flavored cookies....I don't really know what to call them, but they were good. One thing i will be missing this year is my grandma's fudge .

Somebody gave me a receipe for Christmas pudding in which you simmer the fruit in an orange liqueur before adding it to the mix. I did it at the weekend. I used dried apricots and cranberries as I am not keen on sultanas and raisens. The smell was amazing, hope tastes as good as it smelt.

You are very welcome Sweetlikemeli, it appealed to me because a lot of my family dont like traditional christmas cake. If you want the whole receipe just let me know.
