Yesterday morning we got to see the team synchronized swimming (lucky we get to see any at all), and Russia got the gold again. They're streets ahead of everybody else, and the announcers were talking about how there's fierce rivalry among the other teams, and not just for the silver and bronze. I forget exactly which countries they were talking about, but one is determined to outdo the Spanish, somebody else wants to move ahead of Canada, things like that. When it would happen for them, they'd jump up and down and be just as thrilled as if they had won a medal. Cool. I bet they're thrilled if they see any movement at all in the standings, because it practically never happens! You can't tell me these teams and duets can do two or three routines in a competition, and never make any mistakes serious enough in any of them to warrant being moved a place or 2. 12 teams in the duets and after 3 routines, I think 11 moved 10 and 3 moved to 2 after the 3rd routine and those were the only rank changes in the entire competition. I smell a pre-determined competition. It's like ice dance in the 80's and 90's, and that eventually led to huge public judging scandals and a whole new scoring system in the sport.

Closing ceremonies about to start on TV and Olympics withdrawal started to set in this morning. So much we didn't get to see, even! Did they show any of the marathons at all? That used to be Sunday's big thing - after the basketball final anyway - and I've seen way more water polo than I need to for the rest of my life. (Just can't follow it and the caps look so funny.) Hate to think when I get up tomorrow there won't be anything still coming, no more bits about London and the athletes, what am I going to do with myself? Well, this is the way to change my mood, I guess - make me angry. It's nearly an hour after I wrote the above and they're STILL recapping the Games! It's not even anything to do with a time difference, it's all over in London and it looks like all we'll get it a couple of hours bits and pieces of the Closing Ceremonies. DAMN. (For the Brits & Irish: used to be they'd start before this and go till nearly midnight. DAMN.)

why couldn't they re-cap the games AFTER the closing ceremony??? part of me is glad it's over because having read some irish idiots giving out about team g.b and how some of them "bullied" their way into medal contention. sweet jaysus, they were at home of course there gonna work their butts off for the home crowd. seriously irish jealousy rearing it's ugly head again. there also giving out loads about tom daley and about him getting a 2nd chance. i have defended every chance i got in the last week, because i genuinely thought they were having a laugh, than realized they were being serious. anyway, the closing ceremony was fantastic!!! thought the lighting display was fantastic, a joy to watch and the music was great, surprised that george micheal was there considering he hasn't been a good boy at all. freddie mercury still a LEGEND. Brian May, ROCKS!!! could have done without jessie j, did not do that song justice at all. but hey Brazil is gonna rock!!!

Very sad that the games are over but at the same time very proud of Team GB and the organisers of the games , this has been a wonderful two weeks for everybody and seemed like a happy games through out. Saying that I have cried so much in the last two weeks, everytime they replay someone winning gold the tears start

I asked the same question, then I saw a piece on the BBC, you could walk up to the top and have a view over all of the olympic park and most of London. Looked a tiny bit high for my liking

i thought it was a rollacoaster. but then wonder why a rolla coaster would be in the middle of the park.
as much as i'm afraid of heights and have vertigo anyway, i still wouldn't mind having a look.

Apparently NBC decided that we needed 2hours of commentary and less ceremony. They cut out some of the acts. One of the ones cut out was the ballerinas at the end. My cousin was one of them and lucky she posted some pics on her Facebook page or we would have never seen her. I don't know if other countries got a fuller version, but I was dissapointed. The show itself was good, but we waiting until the very end, just to barely get a glimpse of them standing there, clearly after they performed. Boo to NBC.

Boo is right! I heard a little on the radio about the beginning and we saw nothing of how it all got set up in the stadium. We basically got a concert.
