I don't know if we've seen any boxing since I've been out this afternoon, maybe there'll be the women's tonight. Not that I'm in favor of boxing per se, but it would be a shame if they didn't cover the women's events.
Saw some of the platform diving, and chaz, you're right about that, but boy howdy they must be doing something right in China, I've never seen such entries, Chen Ruolin is terrific. Wish she enjoyed it more though.

I thought the same thing about the Russian when I saw it yesterday sunny.....Thought it was poor form to be honest. Apparently she'd been moaning in the press before and after the match too. Fair play to Katie Great win, well deserved and the gold will certainly improve the Irish mood!! The only time I actually watch boxing is the Olympics.....Can't stand the professional side of it! One of the other things that I have enjoyed about the coverage of the olympics in the UK has been some of the guest presenters , we have had Ian Thorpe on the swimming and Michael Johnson on the track and field. They have both been knowledgeable and humerous a real success.

I've really enjoyed that too I must admit that, apart from when Irish athletes are on, I've not been watching national tv here simply because the presenters just don't do it for me...Plus there's all the ads haha! I've been glued to the UK coverage the whole time and I've really enjoyed it! Fiona

i know. which is totally unfair. getting silver is huge accomplishment especially when there's athletes who are just as good as you in your field

i know. which is totally unfair. getting silver is huge accomplishment especially when there's athletes who are just as good as you in your field I've never been a fan of the "gold is everything" attitude. There are countless athletes who would kill for an Olympic medal, of any color. Devaluing every achievement except winning gold is a terrible message to give, because the vast majority of course won't win, and their self-esteem can end up shattered. Of course, I must confess I'm from the country that has 18 total medals, and 13 of them bronze! To quote an editorial in my local newspaper..."We are BRONZILLA!". ;D!

Yesterday morning we got to see the team synchronized swimming (lucky we get to see any at all), and Russia got the gold again. They're streets ahead of everybody else, and the announcers were talking about how there's fierce rivalry among the other teams, and not just for the silver and bronze. I forget exactly which countries they were talking about, but one is determined to outdo the Spanish, somebody else wants to move ahead of Canada, things like that. When it would happen for them, they'd jump up and down and be just as thrilled as if they had won a medal. Cool.
