The first of the ratings numbers are starting to come in and things are not looking good. I will update with the actually numbers later today once they are released. But preliminary, it appears that at the 10pm hour, Castle came in first with a strong lead in from DWTS, Revolution came in second with The Voice giving it a good lead in and H50 came in third with hardly any lead in support.
Oh, and just for the record this was actually the second episode to air for Revolution as it actually had it's premiere episode last week to correspond with the kick off of The Voice.

Thanks Diana, I had a feeling that Castle would do well with the story line they had. H50 always seems to do much better with the later DVR ratings

Here is the 18-49 Demo for the 25 largest TV Markets (i.e. 25 largest cities in the US) still awaiting the numbers for the whole country, but unfortunately if this trend holds they aren't looking good.
Revolution = 3.7 Castle = 2.2 Hawaii 5-0 = 1.8

Diana, was the show that lead into H50 a new show? Not exactly. Last year the lead ins were: How I Met Your Mother - 8pm, Two Broke Girls - 8:30pm, Two and Half Men - 9pm, Mike and Molly - 9:30pm. This year it is: How I Met Your Mother - 8pm, Partners (New) - 8:30pm, Two Broke Girls - 9:00pm, and Mike and Molly - 9:30pm. The main difference is that NBC has come out swinging by putting a fall edition of "The Voice" on from 8-10pm followed by the new show Revolution which appears to be a big draw with the 18-49 crowd that H50 usually claimed last season even when Castle would beat it in overall viewers.

And, things just keep getting worse. For those of you that were banking on the DVR number to help bring H50's numbers up, it appears that Revolution might also put a hurt there to as just in the three days (not the 7 days that normally gets reported and which we won't have for another couple of weeks) after Revolution debut it's 18-49 demo jumped from a 4.1 to a 5.45 which is a new record.

Here are the full numbers.
NBC Revolution 3.5 (18-49 Demo) 9.29 (Million Viewers) ABC Castle 2.5 (18-49 Demo) 11.38 (Million Viewers)* CBS Hawaii Five-0 1.9 (18-49 Demo) 7.97 (Million Viewers)
* FYI - Castle's numbers will most likely be adjusted downward in the finals do to the Monday Night Football game.
Just for perspective here are H50's Season 1 and Season 2 premiere numbers.
Season 1 - 3.9 (18-49 Demo) 14.199 (Million Viewers) Season 2 - 3.4 (18-49 Demo) 12.19 (Million Viewers)
All I can say is Lenkov better remember what worked in Season 1 ASAP, or he is going to be grateful that he has that new gig.

Wow, those numbers aren't good. Maybe things will change once the newness of Revolution wears off. Do you think they might move H50 to another night? Could that possibly help?

EEK I know I've not seen it yet....But those numbers are not good I just hope they pick up ASAP Mind you, going up against the Castle season premier would have been tough anyway last night I think given the storyline there Fiona

Big ouchie.......I too am wondering if moving it to a new night would help. Actually, I was thinking along those lines at some point last year. I knew Revolution was going to be a tough nut to beat--if I weren't watching H 5-0, I would probably be watching that on NBC.
And something else I've been thinking about too.......On Sunday I was watching football on CBS, and they ran several promos for H 5-0. Part of me was thinking it was looking a little soapy (the whole Mom thing)--and maybe people just decided not to tune in after last years mess....

Wow, those numbers aren't good. Maybe things will change once the newness of Revolution wears off. Do you think they might move H50 to another night? Could that possibly help? The good news is with the syndication deal in place I don't see CBS pulling H50 before the end of this season, but what happens after this season if this trend continues probably won't be good. As for moving to another night anything is possible. The problem is where do you move it to? The only potential openings that aren't the nights of death, (Friday and Sunday) where they move things right before they axe them, would be 10pm Tuesday or 10pm Thursday, which have the new shows Vegas and Elementary in those slots. And unless one of those shows totally flop I would imagine CBS would give them a little extra time to see if they will gain an audience, much like what Person of Interest did last year. My guess if the numbers continue to be this bad CBS will want to do something rather quickly to try to right the ship. The quickest thing they could is to dramatically shift the storyline of the show and/or bringing in new management/writers. That is drawing back on the personal side stories (aka the soapy elements of the show) (Mama McG, Cath, Danno's custody issues, Kono & Adam, Chin's loss) and focusing more on the Core 4 working together to solve whatever the crime of the week. Basically taking the show back to what worked in season 1. Though much the like the issues they had last season the earliest they will be able to make any changes will be Ep. 308 as they are currently shooting 307 and by then damage may already be done. It is also very possible we could also see a reduction and/or replacement with cheaper cast members, (and who might go is up for debate, but one would have to guess that the only two that would be untouchable would be Alex and Scott), along with a dramatic decrease in big-name guest stars (Ed Asner, James Caan, etc.) and/or recurring characters (i.e., Mama McG, Kamekona, Gracie, etc), and less stunts and special effects as the show is one of the more costly shows to produce and if CBS is continuing to lose ad revenue they may start looking at ways to cut costs.

As far as I'm concerned they can scale back on the guest stars and special effects - that doesn't matter that much to me. Concentrate on the Core 4. I'm not sure season 1 had more procedural and less personal stories. We saw Grace, Rachel, Kamekona, Cath, Mary just to name a few. Steve was focused on the contents of the Champ Box and finding out who killed his parents - all very personal stories. I think Season 2 is the reason we are seeing the ratings drop now. A lot of people lost interest with the bad storyline and casting and H50 may not be able to recover from that unless people decide to give it another look.
