Michelle Borth Joins CBS Hawaii Five-0 As New Regular By NELLIE ANDREEVA | Monday March 26, 2012 @ 8:32am PDT EXCLUSIVE: Steve McGarrettfs love life is looking up. Michelle Borth, who appeared in five episodes of Hawaii Five-0es first two seasons as McGarrettfs squeeze, will join the CBS procedural as a regular when it returns for a third season in the fall. She will reprise her role as McGarrettfs girlfriend, Lt. Catherine Rollins. Borth, repped by CAA, New Wave Entertainment and Marcy Morris, first guest starred in the fourth episode of Hawaii Five-0es first season and was most recently seen in an episode last month. She previously starred on ABC's The Forgotten and Canadian-produced Combat Hospital. Borth is the second recurring guest star to be upped to regular on Hawaii Five-0 following last year's promotion of Masi Oka. She joins Grace Park as the second female regular cast member on the show. www.deadline.com/2012/03/michelle-borth-joins-cbs-hawaii-five-0-as-new-regular/

I love this news about Michelle because we know what she is like and she is not on the team. She won't mess with the chemistry with the fab 4

Well, boys and girls, just when you thought we were done with a 5th member on the team. The good news there is at least one person we can knock of the list as being the person in question from the season finale spoiler.

Well, this is certainly good news!! It finally sounds like TPTB are being smart about how they go about broadening the starring cast and there by taking some of the work load off of the 4 main leads.
This is how additions to the main cast should take place.....gradually ease a new member onto the show in a few episodes at a time, make sure they are clicking chemistry-wise with the rest of the cast and then let the character make the leap to series regular. I think the addition of Catherine really makes sense plot-wise as well. She's Navy intelligence (I think) and 5-0 can always use a little extra super-secret intel. Plus she will provide Steve with a few more distractions that don't revolve around Wo Fat.
Hey, maybe for some comic relief, Steve and Catherine can double date with Danny and Gabby - I am sure that would be amusing and provide more than a few laughs.
At any rate, I think this is great news and Catherine will be a welcome addition to the great cast of H50. S3 is looking good already!

This is not bad. She's already been written with some style, and god/dess knows she's a decent actress. It'll be interesting to see if she gets in the opening credits or "also starring".

*sigh* Why do I have the feeling I'm going to be the only one who doesn't like this news? Here's the thing, it's not that I don't like Catherine. I'm just skeptical as to how this is all going to play out with her being a regular. Sure have her show up every once in awhile, make her recurring, that's fine. But a regular? Yikes. I'm skeptical. Really skeptical. I hope they play this right and do it in a way that 1. doesn't make her a part of the team, and 2. keeps it from being too soapy. Better than Lori, but, I'll hold out until I see Cath's role before I jump for joy. Just saying.

I didn't say it was bad at all, though I do agree with MF that most likely she is going to wind up being the 5th member of the team (the question will be officially or unofficially), which makes me a little hesitant after Lori debacle, though hopefully TPTB have learned a few things and will write Cath very differently from that of Lori. [crossing my fingers ;D]
On the bright side this actually this gives me a little more confidence that Catherine isn't going to be killed off at moment's notice for dramatic purposes and that SWSNBN will not be back in any regular capacity. Now if NBC would just pick up SWSNBN's new show so we don't have worry about her returning in a recurring capacity I will be dancing the Snoopy Dog Dance of Happiness.

Remember Max is a series regular and he doesn't show up all the time......so hopefully they won't let her become the 5th member of 5-0. The Enterprise is being decommissioned and maybe they are going to write that into the plot line and she will be stationed at Pearl doing Naval intelligence. Who knows. At least we know she can act and that she has chemistry with not only Steve, but the rest of the cast too.....I shall look upon this as a happy move on the part of TPTB.....

MF, I hear what you are saying about not wanting Catherine to be the "5th member" of the team - plus that would be kinda awkward and inappropriate if she's still Steve's lady-friend or even if they are just "friends with benefits" (I would think). What do I know?? I guess I was kind of assuming that she would stay in the Navy and just be an extra helper to the 5-0 team of 4. At least I hope that's how it plays out. Well, we'll have plenty of time to think about this and discuss amongst ourselves. In the mean time, here is a photo of a pretty good looking group....

I'm with freaky, they definitely do NOT need a fifth wheel member, but at least it's someone we know and we can be pretty sure there won't be embarrassing hotel scenes with Cath coily asking Chin what the deal is with MG. So is she quitting the Navy or whatever it is she is? (what is her official title, anyhow? Should add it to the Champ box timeline) A bit weird, with her sleeping with the boss. But 'm looking forward to seeing her and Kono team up on some bad guys and kick their asses.

Hmm, interesting. I'm not sure what to think about this news. It will depend very much on exactly how they write her and how they justify her increased presence on the show. On the plus side, I enjoy seeing both the actress and her character, so hopefully it will work out well.

I have mixed feelings on this idea. Even as a Stath fan, I still wouldn't want to see too much Steve/Cath on the show. Just enough that Steve has a personal/social life outside of work.
Davilarose makes a good point about Max being a 'regular', yet we get small but frequent doses of him, which is ideal, and what I hope they do with Catherine.
I'll agree with all of you, in that I don't want or think she will be or should be a 5th member. Her current role with NI is idea and I'm hoping it doesn't change.
Diana makes a good observation; at least we know she won't be killed off in the S2 finale. Whew!
She seems to have good chemistry, not only with Steve, but with the whole team. Another plus.
I'm slightly hesitant about this (mostly because I don't trust PL), but mostly optimistic.

I agree with you Runner. I'm cautiously optimistic about her being a recurring cast member but I'm very glad that it won't be her getting hurt at the end of the season! I've said before that I'm a big fan of them together but I certainly don't want it to become a soap opera!

What is troublesome for me about the Borth news is how far TPTB have strayed away from the original series components. Wo Fat was original McG 's arch nemesis and we hardly see any of that tension and plot line any more. Whose the bad guys? Sang Min, Fryer? Gov? They keep bringing in new characters and then drop them and never resolve the story arcs I hope TPTB aren't leaning to compete w/ Castle and Bones format.
