It's not what Lenkov necessarily wants, after all, it's kind of what several people were asking for for two years, and there is only one way the storyline could have progressed.
Everybody wants to blame Lenkov, and that's fine, as a showrunner, thats part and parcel of his job, but the reality is, every little comment that gets steam and more than two people behind it, is still listened to, and some of those comments and intentions are more 'in the moment' than 'laying it out'. And this is the general result.

Well I rather have catherine than lori on the team because she dose have chemistry with the fab 4 and is a better acter as well. I am going to wait and see how this develops if they do it right it could be ok. What I do not want is Lori coming back as steve girlfriend that will just be so horrible to see.

I don't mind Michelle Borth becoming a regular. If she must become a part of the 4, so be it, nothing we can do about it anyhow and at least we know her. I'm hoping she'll be good. Don't really care if the relationship continues, or if it fizzles, as long as they don't take away time from important stuff, and make it into a soap. What I really hate is the way the Boriwho? lovers are saying that the Cath-Steve relationship, if they do work together, will be just like what the Boriwho? "haters" were against (co-workers getting involved). Do they not see it's a totally different situation? Did they want to see Steve two-time his girlfriend with a co-worker??? Sorry, don't want to start anything, but it just irritates me when I read such mindless crap.

I can only speak for myself here but I think some people would agree with me. I have wanted to see more of Catherine since she was introduced in Season 1. I like the relationship between her and Steve. I want to see more of that and their background story. And I was excited and optimistic about her becoming a series regular (which doesn't mean a team member and in every episode).I had faith that PL wouldn't screw this up. But it looks like my faith has been misplaced. I don't want her on the team - only helping the team every now and then. I want her to remain in the Navy - an independent career woman. I want her to be a stabilizing force in Steve's life- not a disruption. I really hope PL looks at these boards. Maybe we need to start a petition before the season begins. Keep Cath/Steve as Cath/Steve - don't turn their lives and relationship into something else. Don't mess with a good thing.

This is one that a petition won't fix, your alternative is going to be her gone altogether. Not to mention if you make it a habit of throwing out a petition everytime you don't like one little thing, it eventually turns into 'well, you don't like anything, so why bother with the show'.
This is one case, where if you actually like and have faith in the character and actually want her to remain around, then you are going to have to give the writers a chance and give the storyline a chance. Even with Lori, there was no petition to get rid of her before she premiered, because to be fair, we had to see what she turned out like. For all you know, this could turn out even better than you thought, and just because it doesn't turn out like some of the shipper fan fiction, don't knock it before it has a chance to breathe.

Found this article on Hawaiifive0online.net. I think many of us saw this plot line coming when MB's new status on the show was announced. hawaiifive0online.net/ The good news for “Hawaii Five-0″ fans is that Michelle Borth will be a full-time part of the show next season. The bad news is that her character, Catherine Rollins, and McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) may be headed for some rough sailing in their relationship.
Showrunner Peter Lenkov says Catherine will join the Five-0 team next season, which means that her active duty in the Navy is likely at an end. Lenkov declined in an interview to say how she joins the squad, only that her addition “is very organic” to the show.
On the downside, though, McGarrett and Catherine may not handle that much togetherness all that well. In the five episodes Borth has appeared in previously, Catherine and McGarrett seemed pretty content together — but that could be partly because they don’t see one another very often, since she’s usually at sea.
Continuing their relationship is “going to prove to be difficult,” Lenkov says. “When she originally joins [the team], they are still dating, but it’s going to be difficult — just like any relationship is with .”
That’s next season, though. As for the rest of this season, Lenkov promises a “jaw-dropping” finale, which we’ll have more to say about after Monday night’s (May 7) Wo Fat-intensive episode. Check back after the 10 p.m. ET airing for more.Dammit Peter, has Jenna and Lori had not taught you anything?

Well said, Darksea.
Personally I'm going to wait, give this a chance and reserve judgement until I see how it works out. MB is a much better actress than LG, and as a character Cath has background and a skill set that we've actually seen her use, unlike Lori. Yes, Cath has no background in law enforcement, but then neither did Steve.
I am nervous of the potential for soap opera-ness, and certain decisions this season have removed any trust I might have had in Petey's judgement, but he does seem to have got the message about the importance of the bromance these last few episodes and I hope that at least he's learned that lesson.
Bottom line is, I'm not going to spend all summer worrying, speculating and getting wound up over something I haven't even seen yet. I'm going to go into S3 with an open mind and give it a chance (as I did with Lori).

I am going to go with Darkseas suggestion and wait and see how Catherines character plays out and what direction the writers take her in and also how they fit her into the team. I wonder if the finale will give us some clues as to how they will introduce her.

I've always been a fan of Steve and Cath's relationship *ducks flying objects* So I'm looking forward to seeing more of her BUT I don't want it turning into a soap opera either. I guess I'm hedging my bets haha!! It'll be interesting to see how she fits in etc. But at least I like the character this time and she has a connection with the team.....Unlike Lori. Plus I think that Michelle Borth is a better actress. Just my two cents......feel free to disagree. Fiona

Just in case anyone was wondering - I was kidding about starting a petition. Obviously, we have to wait and see how PL writes Cath into the story line next season. It is just that I was really excited about her being made a series regular and now I am a bit more apprehensive. Nonetheless, I am looking forward to Season 3.

She's becoming a regular but so is Max, and he doesn't even show up every episode, so that really means nothing much. If they do make her part of the team - and so far that's still an IF, we'll have to see. It could still work, and like we've said, we know her, she can act, I don't think anyone absolutely hates her, so definitely it might work out. Just don't make the show overly about her and Steve and we'll be fine. I'm still interested to see how they handle the relationship. I know workplace relationships are not looked at in a kind light, and since he is the boss, it could get sticky. But she's more than capable and I don't see him doing everything she says just because he sleeps with her. The relationship also precedes the job and everyone knows they're involved, so if she does come to work with the team as a 5th, it's not going to be a suprise to anyone - they'll all have their chance to speak their minds about it, and that would include the Gov, no?

All that said--I will be disappointed if it turns into a soap opera.

What Lenkov said in the article and what actually happens on the screen might be a little different and then again it might not. I like Michele Borth as a actress. I watched every episode of Combat Hospital even though I really couldn't get into it. I watched because I liked her part in it. Hoping for the best. I might even like the way the Cath character will be written in Season 3 more than I do now. Who knows!
