I agree. I definitely don't want it to become the "Steve and Catherine show", but I think what they did with Masi shows that it could work. I am kind of surprised that they took this leap, though--it seems to have come out of left field. Hmmm, I'm wondering if they could work it this way especially after having the crossover episode with NCIS:LA. After crossover the Gov realizes that there needs to be stronger ties between Five-0 and NCIS/The Navy so she becomes a liaison between the two. She could even possibly leave the Navy and become a NCIS Intelligence Analyst(aka Nell on NCIS:LA) as that is common occurrence (See Gibbs on NCIS and Sam on NCIS:LA). Then that way she isn't full time with Five-0 but can be brought in when ever there is a issue with the Navy, Homeland Security or a need for intelligence assets. Diana you make an excellent point here and it sounds great but the only thing I am worried about is how much of a regular Catherine will be and how many navy connected cases can they do to incorporate her character if she is to written in this type of capacity....just curious.....

I don't really know what my opinion is, yet. Maybe she'll serve some good to the storylines, but I agree with those who stated that there's still danger of making her the "fifth wheel", if they don't write her character well.

I am a huge Steve/Cath fan but I too was apprehensive when I read Michele Borth is being made a regular. If PL does it right, this can be a great move. If they have her as a regular just like Masi I can see this working. I hope she does not become a member of the team but someone they go to when they need some extra help. I would like to see her remain in the Navy and be stationed in Hawaii but not see her be front and center every episode (like you know who was). I give PL credit for adding some one most people like and who has chemistry with not only Steve but the other members of the team. Overall, I am excited just hope I do not get disappointed.

For me, it's going to be interesting to see how they handle Cath joining the team. Before, they didn't work together. Now he's going to be her boss. It'd be rotten for team morale and dynamics if one member is canoodling with the boss. And what if she ends up with 5-0 because she got in trouble for all the favours she did for Steve? She's always saying how she could get in trouble, and Steve just falls back on the means and immunity thing, which right now is clear as mud (do they still have full immunity or is the Gov still pissy about it?)... so if she got fired, wouldn't there be hard feelings between them?

Before we all get "worried" about how they handle this, there are a few things we don't know that will determine the outcome. A. How many episodes is she signed for? We learned from LG and Masi that regular doesn't necessarily mean all episodes of a season, so her appearances may be scattered B. Is she a team member? All we know is that she is a regular. No one has said she is a team member. As much as I love this character, I too am a little apprehensive, but If we must get another female regular, I am very happy its her.

There is no indication at this point that she will be part of Five-0.

*sigh* Why do I have the feeling I'm going to be the only one who doesn't like this news? Here's the thing, it's not that I don't like Catherine. I'm just skeptical as to how this is all going to play out with her being a regular. Sure have her show up every once in awhile, make her recurring, that's fine. But a regular? Yikes. I'm skeptical. Really skeptical. I hope they play this right and do it in a way that 1. doesn't make her a part of the team, and 2. keeps it from being too soapy. Better than Lori, but, I'll hold out until I see Cath's role before I jump for joy. Just saying. I totally agree with you MF.....an occasional visit now and then is alright, but we'll just have to wait and see won't we.

Now he's going to be her boss.
But if she is some sort of liaison for the Navy, that wouldn't make Steve her boss, would it?

He outranks her, so technically, he already is her boss.

I don't think Cath is going to be made a member of the team. She will be a regular the same way Masi is a regular. And just think about how much screen time he has had this year as a regular - not that much. She will mostly likely remain in the Navy but stationed in Hawaii - help with cases here and there and hang out with Steve. I think PL learned from having Jenna in Season 1 and Lori in Season 2.

I agree there cookiejar.....I can't see her joining the team either...I'm guessing that she'll be permanently assigned on land in Hawaii rather than being deployed overseas or on the Enterprise. He outranks her, so technically, he already is her boss. Although now he is in the reserves, so she is back on top again, and you notice how they never make out on the military base? Can we say 'red light'?

So his being in the reserves does factor in, huh. I'd wondered about that, but wasn't sure.
