I'm a hard-line Olympics junkie. Every two years I'm glued to the TV for the whole thing, and wanting more. My favorites are the obvious - gymnastics, figure skating, track, swimming, that sort of thing - but I'm also extremely fond of whitewater kayaking, wrestling, skiing, short-track skating, and oddly, the sliders - bobsled, luge, etc. Since the changeover to HD TV a couple of years ago, I also get the NBC Universal Sports channel, so I get to see way more gymnastics and figure skating than ever before, so I'm having a good time.
I'm a very fair-weather baseball and football fan. The Rangers having made it into the World Series twice now, they've finally raised themselves in my estimation, so they're good. The Cowboys, on the other hand, have needed a dope-slap too many times over the past few years. I sniff in their general direction. But I do appreciate basketball, it's much more fun to watch than the others because they keep doing stuff, rather than killing time like football, and building up suspense with sudden letdowns like baseball.
Sunnyirish, you're talking about European football, I assume? As far as that goes, it beats American football but it still doesn't do much for me.
Needless to say, I don't do any of these things myself. Never been an athlete. (One of the reasons Alex is frustrating sometimes.) Miserable failure at ice skating. Threw the bat in baseball. Hit an old lady in the head at miniature golf. Better off at board and card games.

I've never been much of a one for organised team sports. My sport for many years (until I had my kids) was caving, including expedition caving exploring new stuff abroad. These days I run for fitness, and go sailing -this summer I crewed a yacht in the Fastnet yacht race, from Portsmouth to Ireland and back to Plymouth, which was an *amazing* experience. As an old friend pointed out to me the other day, I'm obviously not having a good time unless I'm cold, wet and knackered!

And I will admit to watching rugby. Which has everything to do with the sport, of course, and nothing whatsoever to do with the superb physical condition of some of the players... nothing at all...

I love watching football. As for participation, I'm a biker (uh, bicycles, that is).

We're a big hockey household here, love our NY Rangers; also big baseball fans. Our daughter has been playing basketball for years now, so we have gotten into watching the HS games but not the pros.

Sports? What's that?... Oh, yea, those things. I'll let you know when I fall in love with one of them. I used to run and play volleyball before... Now, I just dream about getting to run again. I will run some day... soon... hopefully.

How's the Strepthroat wife and family doing?
I love to watch soccer - World Cup, Euro Cup and Copa Sudamerica. Only when countries play countries, not "national" teams which are made up of people from everywhere else. Used to love to watch and play tennis. Also swam and did horsebackriding. Now I'm more into tamer stuff like pingpong and shuffleboard. The old muscles ain't what they used to be.

Hey, Danni! The strep throat family is hanging in there. I think we're going from one thing to another. How's your family doing? I hope you're staying well.
I completely forgot about ping pong. I grew up playing that game and love it. So much fun! It's a lot of fun beating my hubby and all the other guys. They always think they can beat a girl. Ha! Surprise! I also play table soccer. One of my girlfriends and I always teamed up when we were youth sponsors and would play against the teen boys. They would always look at each other and laugh and think they were doing us a favor for letting us play... until we beat the pants off of them. They would never play with us again. Their egos couldn't handle it, and we'd have to find some other guys the next week to take advantage of. Man! Those are good memories that I haven't thought about for years.

My 3 guys play table soccer. My sons saved up for a table years ago. I never got into it, but I do like pingpong.

Football. The kind where foot meets an actual ball. Both watching and playing. I feel like I'm too old to play and have pretty much constant pain of some sort but I love it to bits.
Horseback riding. I've gotten back into saddle (heh) after a 10 year break.

Oh Geez!
I love to watch all kinds of sport events. Olympics, Soccer cups, Worldcups of pretty much every sport that is on.
I grew up kinda suburban/ rural with a lot of boys so we always played soccer, went running through the woods and wrestled a lot. During the winter we played a lot of ice hockey to work of energy. Later on I did horseriding and played volleyball in school. Nowadays I enjoy running, dancing standard and given the opportunity I love to go trailing.
