Any Equestrian Fans out there? I would have loved to get Olympic tickets to see the 3 day eventing but will have to make do with watching on the TV.

I finally got a horse racing channel, so I can watch that; it also has show jumping on it too. The last time the Olympics was in Los Angeles, the cross-country part of the eventing was not too far from me, but alas I didn't get the chance to go. The town I live in has almost as many horses as people I think. There's a large equestrian center here in town that trains for the eventing. Right now I'm reading a book about a horse named "Snowman". He was a plow-horse that was purchased for 80 dollars and then became a champion show jumper back in the 1950's. It's a pretty good read.

I would have loved to get Olympic tickets to see the 3 day eventing but will have to make do with watching on the TV. *raising hand* Me! ;D ;D Always loved equestrian sports. I was born and raised in the middle of german equestrian sports - Westphalia/ Münsterland, if that means anything to you. Here around almost everyone with the means breeds horses. It's kinda ingrained into our mindset. The village I grew up in had it's own race track (just for training and breeding). I spent many, many hours there when I was a kid. Not doing it myself, just helping around and watching. Learned riding at the farm of the father of a semi-popular german JumpRider myself. Went to many of the local events of the horse-clubs, auctions, some of the more popular events like the "warendorfer hengstparade" and of course the CHIO Aachen. I would love to go to London as well, but I guess it shouldn't been. Will watch it in TV for sure. Not just ThreeDay-event, but Jumping as well.

I'm pretty crazy about watching horses if our Alex and Scott are riding them. Hehehe! Sorry, I just had to throw that in there.

I enjoy watching the equestrian jumping in the Olympics - they don't show much of it - but I always have the same experience: I think, "What a wonderful horse, and isn't he doing well!" and then he hits a rail or he's a few seconds slow and it's sad - and that goes on for a while and I realize I don't care about the competition, it's just to see the pretty horsies and I don't want them to feel bad about themselves.

Hey glad there are some horse/equestrian lovers out there. I also live in an area where horses are a very common sight, the field opposite my house often has polo ponies in so I always go and say hello when I am walking the dog. I do ride but just for fun. That book sounds great Booklover, who is it written by? Wow Twassbrake you competed, I think I would get way to nervous. Margarine I am with you I always feel bad for the horse if they hit a jump or something, they look so sad. Scarlarose I am definetely with you there!!!

Wow Twassbrake you competed, I think I would get way to nervous. What? No! I never competed, never ever. I learned riding there, after that I just helped taking care and train the horses. Competing in equestrian sports is not my thing. I'm more the just-for-fun-type of girl.

I like Murray too. He's my 2nd fave after Federer. Ivan Lendl is coaching him now! Hope it pays off for him.
